Q.I A) Read the following passage and answer the questions given below: (10)

Lal Bahadur Shastri, became the Prime Minister of India, in 1964. But when he was an

infant, he just escaped being a cowherd all his life.

It is said that when he was only three month old, Lal Bahadur was carried by his mother to

the banks of the Ganga. There was a big crowd of pilgrims gathered there and Ramdulari

Devi, little Lal Bahadurs mother, was pushed and jostled. As she fell to the ground the little

baby slipped out of her arms.

By a stroke of good luck the infant fell into a basket that belonged to a cowherd. The

cowherd was greatly surprised when he saw a little baby in his basket. He had no child of his

own, so he thought that this was a gift from the Mother Ganga. He took the boy home and

there was much happiness and rejoicing in his little hut that evening.
