Parashat HaShavuah with Rabbi Kulwin  Parashat HaShavuah, EVERY Saturday  morning , at 9:00 AM before Services   Wise Aging with Karen Frank, RN, TBA Congrega onal Nurse *Wednesdays, February 10 and 24 and March 9, from 1:00‐3:00 PM, in the Prinz Library  *This group is limited to 12 people and therefore we are only offering it to TBA members at this  me. Please call Karen Frank at 973.994.2290, ext. 252 or 862.485.9062 to register. We cannot take drop‐ins. "Old age is not for sissies" Be e Davis once said. For those of us in our 50s through 70s, this does not provide much inspira on. Is there another way we can approach "old age" that feels more of an opportunity than tragedy? Can we look at it as Rabbi Zalman Schacter‐Shlomi did, as a  me of genera vity, growing wisdom, and spiritual ripening? How do we view our own aging? Can we see it as an opportunity for enrichment, per‐sonal growth, and spiritual healing? Must we experience it as a decline or diminishment? And how can we be er live with inten on, presence, and gra tude? Wise Aging is a book and program designed by Linda Thal and Rabbi Rachel Cowan of the Ins tute for Jewish Spirituality. Karen Frank, TBAs own congrega onal nurse, is a trained facilitator in this program and is offering a group to TBA members at no cost.  

Monthly Lunch and Learn with Rabbi Faith Joy Dantowitz: The Book of Judges ─ Please Save Me (or Sin, Punishment and Rescue. Repeat) with Rabbi Faith Joy Dantowitz,  Thursday,  February 11, 11:30 AM.  In this monthly class, we will learn about the Judges who tried and failed to lead the people at this cri cal me in the history of the Jewish na on. As we explore their leadership strengths and weaknesses, we will 

also shed light on the book’s meaning for us today,   

Israel Through Film  with Rabbi Kulwin, Tuesday, February 16, 7:00 PM Late Summer Blues  (1987)  Summer, 1970   The War of A ri on.  High school friends head to the army, each with mixed feelings.  One a pacifist, one torn between pilot training and a music unit (with his girlfriend), a third cursing the diabetes that makes him ineligible for service, and so on.  Though an an ‐war polemic, Late Summer Blues focuses more on the personal than the poli cal. 

Blessings, Opportuni es and Challenges of Paren ng with Rabbi Faith Joy Dantowitz Becoming a parent is a blessing with great responsibility. Rabbi Faith Joy Dantowitz will lead the “Blessings, Opportuni es and Challenges of Paren ng,”  which includes three programs geared to parents of children from birth to preparing for college. Broken Idols: The Sha ered Sports Role Model and the Teaching of Judaism (for Parents and Kids), Wednesday, February 24, 7:00 PM The second program, “Broken Idols: The sha ered sports role model and the teaching of Judaism,” welcomes parents and children (recommended for parents and children in Grades 5‐8). to engage together in exploring the reali es of life through a Jewish lens. TBA member Brian Geltzeiler, an NBA writer/analyst who hosts a Sirius Satellite radio show, will help lead this program.  TBA Book Group with Rabbi Kulwin Thursday, February 18, 7:30 PM The Betrayers by David Bezmogis Based loosely on Natan Sharansky, Boruch Kotler is an aging Soviet dissident turned Israeli poli cian.  Black‐mailed a er vo ng against a key ini a ve of the prime minister, Kotler and his much younger lover, whose presence the blackmail revealed, flee to Crimea. This acclaimed explora on of the tension between principle and poli cs was named a Best Book of 2014 by both the Wall Street Journal and the New Yorker, was select‐ed an Editor's Choice by the New York Times Book Review, and won the Na onal Jewish Book Award.

Admission fees: Members and students $18   General admission: $25   Order  ckets online or send in a check to the temple.    Pianist and conductor Vladimir Feltsman is one of the most versa le and  constantly interes ng musicians of our  me. His vast repertoire encompasses music from the Baroque to 21st‐century composers. He has appeared with all the major American orchestras and on the most pres‐gious musical stages and fes vals worldwide. Born in Moscow in 1952, Mr. Feltsman debuted with the 

Moscow Philharmonic at age 11. In 1969, he entered the Moscow Tchaikovsky State Conservatory of Mu‐sic to study piano under the guidance of Professor Jacob Flier. He also studied conduc ng at both the Moscow and Leningrad (now St. Petersburg) Conservatories. In 1971, Mr. Feltsman won the Grand Prix at the Marguerite Long Interna onal Piano Compe on in Paris; extensive touring throughout the former Soviet Union, Europe and Japan followed this. A dedicated educator of young musicians, Mr. Feltsman holds the Dis nguished Chair of Professor of Piano at the State University of New York, New Paltz, and is a member of the piano faculty at the Mannes College of Music in New York City. He is the founder and Ar s c Director of the Interna onal Fes val‐Ins tute Piano Summer at New Paltz, a three‐week‐long,  intensive training program for advanced piano students that a racts major young talents from all over the world.
