• VC-58, TBM Avenger Aircraft Squadron aboard the CVE-65 Wake Island, part of Task Group 22.6

• Combat aerial and ship photographer and mapping; documented the ship, missions, and personnel, as well as ran the onboard photo lab

• Navy Unit Commendation (3 Stars), American Campaign Medal, Asiatic/Pacific Campaign Medal (3 Stars), WWII Victory Medal, Philippine Presidential Unit Citation, Philippine Liberation Medal; Presented an award for his photographs of Iwo Jima and Okinawa at MacDill AFB in 2019

• Photographed the battles of Iwo Jima, Okinawa, and the Solomon Islands from a specially modified TBM Avenger. During the battle of Okinawa, he was the only person to photograph the Kamikaze attack on the carrier Benjamin Franklin – all his cameras, film, and equipment were confiscated when he arrived back aboard the Wake Island

• After filming the Kamikaze attach on the Wake Island at Iwo Jima, his aircraft flew to find the Kamikaze base

• The first person to photograph the first US jet aircraft
