The VMS range of Lightweight Colour Light Signals employs an innovative low profile design
which does not require any external hoods. The compact integrated signal allows all 3 signal
colours to be displayed through a single 280mm diameter aspect.
There are 3 standard configurations: 110Vac current proved, 110Vac volt free contact proved, and
24Vdc volt free contact proved.

PLJI Position Light Junction Indicator
The VMS lightweight Position Light Junction Indicator uses an array of 3 x 15 high intensity
white LEDs to produce a clear solid bar of light. Its modular construction allows any combination
of aspects to be built from standard parts. An aluminium body and low profile design minimises
the weight of these large signals.

The VMS Banner Repeater Signal is a lightweight low profile signal designed for new installations
or to replace existing low-reliability types such as fibre-optics. The compact integrated signal
weighs only 15Kg and is offered in two versions: a 2-state white with horizontal and diagonal
aspects, and a 3-state with white horizontal, white diagonal, and green diagonal aspects.
The signal is available with either a MIL5105 connector wired to T00036 or for maintenance
replacement with a Westinghouse connector.

VMS LED miniature route indicators incorporate a full matrix of LEDs to allow a large number of
different aspects to be displayed, including letters A-Z, numbers 0-9 and PRI aspects positions
1-6. The Miniature Aspect Route Indicator can be configured to display any combination of these
aspects in up to 3 characters. Up to 6 such combinations of aspects can be configured in each
signal.

The following table provides the technical data for a level crossing system which will
automatically activate an LED road sign to warn approaching drivers that there is a queue of
vehicles on the far side of the crossing.
This system uses inductive loops to detect stationary vehicles, when a queue is detected a
wireless data link is used to activate the sign to warn approaching drivers of the hazard. This
system is powered using a combination of solar and wind. It is also capable of sending out voice
messages to a mobile phone to alert maintenance staff to any faults or low power states.

Support structures
The VMS lightweight support system comprises a common plinth to which posts of varying
lengths and configurations can be attached. Instructions on how to install the support system
and information about tools to be used is available on request.
PlinthsThe plinth weighs 70kg and can by lifted by a minimum of two people using the side cleats as
lifting points. M24 nuts used to secure the plinth to the foundation are NOT supplied and will
need to be independently procured. The grade and material of these fixings will need to be
appropriate to the studs provided by the foundation.

PostsThe post is made of aluminium and is supplied to the required length. The bolts to mount the
post to the plinth are provided with the plinth and nothing else is required.
The normal method of delivery is to provide the posts with all signals and cables pre-installed.

The lightweight adjustable bracket is designed to make VMS
lightweight LED signals backwardly compatible with existing
signal structures. This bracket is designed to mount onto a
standard signal base as defined in NR-SIG-10062. The slotted
holes in the base allow the signal to be sighted horizontally

Support structures
The lightweight non-adjustable bracket is designed to make VMS
lightweight LED signals backwardly compatible with existing signal
structures. The main application for this bracket is ground mount
signals. This bracket is designed to mount onto either a signal
base as defined in BRS-SM 65/10, or a ground mount post with a
mounting arrangement as defined in BRS-SM 75. The slotted holes
in the base allow the signal to be sighted horizontally and there
is no vertical adjustment. For ground mount signals the vertical
adjustment is normally built into the post mounting plate.
