The Vision of Children Foundation supports 23 researchers at 12 institutions worldwide. VOC helps fund vision research studies for over 25 associated genetic eye disorders. The Foundation has been acknowledged in numerous highly respected scientific publications. The scientific discoveries funded by VOC are crucial in pushing forward the science to eliminate vision disorders and create effective therapies.

VOC maintains a worldwide Family Network, providing information and support via constant communication, a bi-annual newsletter, and an informative website between the VOC team, families, health care

professionals, and teachers. This Family Network enables parents to contact families facing similar challenges in their geographic region to share experiences and offer each other support.

e d u C a T i o n a l a s s i s T a n C e VOC developed a computer monitor system to accommodate students and adults with low vision. This system works to alleviate the stress and strain that individuals with low vision face everyday when using computer technology. The Foundation has donated monitors to schools and individuals nationwide.

Our bi-annual World Symposium brings together vision researchers, ophthalmologists, and families to discuss the latest progress in vision research and to provide a great opportunity for communication and education.

h o p e i s i n s i g h T……The Vision of Children is moving closer to our ultimate goal of curing hereditary vision disorders. Human gene therapy trials have begun and with your help we can speed this progress forward.

Join the Family Network and belong to a growing community of people who care! VOC has multiple opportunities for individuals, families, and organizations to participate in our fundraising events.

More than 850,000 children in the United States suffer from vision impairment; a loss of vision that makes it hard or impossible to do daily tasks without specialized adaptations, and which cannot be corrected to a “normal” level.

These children face technological and socially-imposed obstacles that make it difficult to succeed in life.

Families often feel isolated and confused, and need support to face their day-to-day life.

Hereditary vision disorders such as ocular albinism, retinitis pigmentosa, and Ushers syndrome belong to a group of diseases that are under-represented and under-funded.

The Vision of Children Foundation (VOC) was established in 1991, when it was discovered that there was a need to fund research for hereditary childhood vision disorders. The Foundation is the only international non-profit foundation that funds genetic vision research and connects families all over the world.

The VOC is dedicated to the education of teachers and parents of visually impaired children. The Foundation creates valuable communication among families, health care professionals, and researchers.

The Vision of Children Foundation strives to enable thousands of children to have a clear image of the world around them.
