Questa canzone è autobiografica Si era agli inizi del 1900 ed Eduardo Nicolardi , che aveva poco più di 20 anni, si innamorò della bellissima Annarosa, figlia di un ricco commerciante di cavalli. Ma era un povero poeta squattrinato e la ragazza fu data in sposa ad un vecchio e ricco cliente del padre. La disperazione del giovane poeta una volta tanto durò poco: Annarosa si trovò infatti presto vedova e ricca; il sogno d’amore divenne realtà ed a noi è rimasta una delle più belle canzoni di tutti i tempi!

This is an autobiographic song. It was the beginning of 1900 and Edoardo Nicolardi, who was just over twenty, fell in love with the very beautiful Annarosa, daughter of a rich horse-dealer. But he was a poor poet without a penny and the girl was married to an old and rich customer of her father’s. The young poet’s despair, though, didn’t last long; Annarosa in fact became soon a rich widow. Their love dream became true and we are left wirh one of the most beautiful songs of all times!
