    Be Thankful

Bible Reading for January: The Book of Luke

good courage, and he shall strengthenthine heart: wait, I say, on theLORD. Waiting on the Lord may beunbearable sometimes; especially intimes when you need an urgentmiracle or response from God. How-ever, the risk of not waiting on God

could be costly in the end.Robert Dean Steel once said

that true fruitfulness in life happenswhen you stay connected to God. Re-member that God has great things instore for his children. He will take youto higher heights if you open up and

allow him in. God is aware of yourneeds, but his timing of blessings isnot always the same as ours. So, be of good courage, wait on the Lord, andstay connected to him at all times.

    ~ Chika N. Akugha

Are there times when you arefeeling down, in despair, and heavyhearted? Have you felt like giving upthinking things will not improve forthe better? Have you been waiting onGod, but feel like he is not respondingto your needs?

Whatever your situation, know that the Lord is more than ableto supply your needs according to hisriches in glory by Christ Jesus(Philippians 4:19). Likewise, Psalm27:14 says Wait on the Lord; be of

    Be of Good Courage

Be of good courage, and heshall strengthen your heart,

all ye that hope in the LORD PSALM 31: 24 (KJV)

And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of thosethings which were told her from the

    Lord.

    Women of Impact with theBenyeogors

It is with great pleasure thatI welcome each of you to the year2013, and to our Women of Impact(WOI) January edition. God has gra-ciously seen us through 2012 success-fully in our Women of Impact minis-try. We give glory to God for Hisabounding faithfulness and mercies.

With reflections, WOI will besix months this January. During thepast year, we have had joint fellow-ships with one another unto the Lord.We celebrated our end of year fellow-ship, and graced one another with giftexchanges. The bond of fellowship, oneness, sisterly love dwells amongthe WOI in Mercy Hall. I am excitedfor what God has in store for WOI thisyear. He is surely taking us to HigherHeights in the WOI ministry. Just toreiterate what we stand for so youunderstand the impact we are man-dated to make as WOI.

In the WOI ministry,we are raised to raise, we arelifted to be lifters, we areblessed to be channels of

blessing to all. This is the WOI goal state-

ment. To raise, lift, and bless othersrequires absolute commitment anddedication to fulfill all that we are

ordained to be and dofrom God. In essence,

as we journeythrough 2013, wemake our declarationto further the gospelthrough fellowship, stewardship, and ser-vice.

On that note, its possible some of you have made newyears resolutions, setgoals, or mapped outdifferent plans for therest of the year.Maybe, you have not decided on whatgoals to set, or what areas of changeyou need to focus on this year.

All the same, one must have avision and concrete goals to have asuccessful and impactful life. Bear inmind that above every goal you setforth for this year, the foremost goal Iknow for sure is the bibles mandatethat we seek first the kingdom of Godand His righteousness. The reward

thereof for accomplishing this goal isthat every other things will be addedunto you (Matthew 6:33).

Take time to commit yourgoals and your ways unto the Lord, so

He can take charge over allthat you have planned.

Step forward and berest assured that you can doall things through Christwho strengthens you(Philippians 4:13) when yourelease yourself and yourgoals unto God.

This year, WOI willstep forward in a new dimen-sion to enrich lives startingfrom Mercy Hall to the gloryof God. Brethren, God wantsto accomplish a lot in ourlives. Therefore, we must

step forward and move forward ingrace with absolute totality.

It is my prayer that Godsgracious favor will uplift you to higherheights as you open your respectivebarns to collect the various miraclesthat will be showered on you as youstep forward to live an impactful life.

    God bless you richly.

Foundation for a Glorious Year 2013The Worlds tallest building as at today is the Burj Khalifa

opened in Dubai in January 4, 2010. Burj Khalifa stands at a staggering

2,717 ft tall (more than half a mile high.)

While most attention focuses on its height, perhaps more important is what

    lies buried beneath the building.

Without a solid foundation, the Worlds tallest building would

become the worlds longest pile of rubble. No wonder it took a whole year

just to build the foundation of Burj Khalifa. So is it with great lives. What

people see, what people marvel about are the great heights to which some

people seem to soar, yet supporting any truly great life is a solid founda-

tion. A heralded career is built on foundational principles like dependabil-

ity, dedication, commitment and hard work. A celebrated sixtieth wedding

anniversary results from deep love and selflessness. Successful retirement

depends on years of responsible money management. Foundation matters in

everything in life. Start right, continue right and you will finish right in

Jesus name.Foundation is the basis or groundwork of anything you want to

do or you are doing. It is the natural or prepared ground or base on which

structures rests. The foundation determines the stability of the superstruc-

ture. If the foundation is weak, what you put on it will naturally crumble no

matter how fanciful, great or adorable it is. Psalms 11:3 says if the founda-

tion be destroyed what can the righteous do. Foundation is tied to prepara-

tion as it prepares the structure for what will come upon it. Outstanding

performance in the future is a product of qualitative preparation today.

Effective preparation (foundation) will result in unusual manifestation.

God will bless you and take you to the height He has ordained

for you in year 2013 as you work on these foundations for a glorious year

    2013.

    Foundation of salvation :

Another name for salvation is new birth or to be born again. John 3:3

Jesus answered and said unto him, verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a

man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. John 3:7 Marvel

not that I said unto thee, ye must be born again Friend, are you born

again? Dont deceive yourself! Be born again; make a conscious decision to

follow Jesus today and you will never regret you did.

    Foundations of righteousness :

Righteousness means to be in right standing with God. You must know

God, understand his ways, know His expectations for yo ur life and obey him

in all areas of life. Philippians 2:12 Therefore, my beloved, as ye have always

obeyed, not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence, work out your

own salvation with fear and trembling.

Being righteous is a command by God Almighty 1Peter 1:15 but as He who hath

called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of living.

There are several benefits of righteousness, some of which are:

Deliverance from death Proverbs 11:4 ; Divine Protection Proverbs.

    11:5 ; Answered prayers Psalms 34:15 ; Prosperity Psalms 37:29 ;

Peace of mind Psalms 37:37 ; Gladness Psalms 64:10 ; He shall flourish

    Psalms 72:7 ; Psalms 92: 12 ; Rejoicing Proverbs 18:10.

Foundation of the fear of the Lord This is the dread of offending God

consider who He is and all He has done for you. This mindset restrains

you from thinking or doing evil because of the consciousness of divine

presence. The fear of the Lord is being hypersensitive to divine presence.

Proverbs 8:13 The fear of the L ORD is to hate evil; pride and arrogance

and the evil way and the forward mouth do I hate. Proverbs 16:6 By

mercy and truth iniquity is purged, and by the fear of the L ORD men

depart from evil. The fear of the Lord is a commandment with a prom-

ise. Deuteronomy 6:24 And the LORD commanded us to do all these

statutes, to fear the L ORD our God, for our good always, that He might

preserve us alive, as it is at this day.

Benefits of the Fear of God:

Long life : Deuteronomy 6:2 , Proverbs 10:27 ; Serving God with rejoicing

Psalms 2:11 ; Secrets of the Lord will be with you. Psalms 25:14 ; Eyes of God will be with you . Psalms.35:18 ; Angels will always encamp around you to

bring you deliverance .Psalms 34:7; No want in your life .Psalms 34:9 ; His

salvation will be near you .Psalms 85:9

    The Foundation of Prayer:

Jeremiah 33:3 - Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great

and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

1Chronicles 4:9 And Jabez was more honorable than his brethren: and hismother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow.

1Chronicles 4:10 And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou

wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand

might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it maynot grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested. 1Thessa-

    lonians 5:1 7 - Pray without ceasing. Luke 18:1 - And He spoke a

parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray and not to

    faint.

    Foundation of gratitude:

1Thessalonians 5:18 In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in

Christ Jesus concerning you. You must have a grateful heart to have a

blissful life. One great way to measure your gratitude to God is how you

allow His blessings upon your life to strengthen your commitment to

Him. How much you allow Gods blessings upon your life to move you

to love and serve Him better.

    Foundation of Mercy:

Matthew 5:7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. Mercy is

compassionate or kindly forbearance shown towards an offender. It is com-

passion, pity, or benevolence. Mercy is the act of kindness, compassion or

    favor.

Foundation of Humility : ( Humility is the opposite of pride.)

What is pride? A high or inordinate opinion of ones own dignity,

importance, merit or superiority whether as cherished in the mind or as dis-

played in bearing, conduct e.t.c. Pride is having too high an opinion of ones

self, accomplishments or acquisitions. Pride means being full of ones self and

when you are full of yourself, you will be empty of God. James 4:10- Humbleyourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up. 1Peter 5:5 Like-

wise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject

one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and

giveth grace to the humble. 1Peter 5:6 Humble yourselves therefore under the

mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

The bible says in Proverbs 6:16 These six things doth the LORD

hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: Proverbs 6:17 A proud look, a

lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood. The proud man puts Him-

self in the place of God and ascribes to Himself the glory due to God. Isa 2:11

Human pride will be brought down, and human arrogance will be humbled.

Only the LORD will be exalted on that day of judgment. You must humble

yourself as you get into this glorious 2013 because you need Gods grace

much more than ever before and the proud cannot enjoy grace. James 4:6

But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but

giveth grace unto the humble. 1Corinthians 4:7 For who maketh thee to differ

from another? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou

didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadest not received it? If any

blessing of God moves you into pride, that blessing may not last, it may be

short lived, please repent of pride and humble yourself.

You must humble yourself as you get into this glorious 2013 be-

cause you need Gods grace much more than ever before and the proud cannotenjoy grace. James 4:6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God

resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. 1Corinthians 4:7 For

who maketh thee to differ from another? and what hast thou that thou didst

not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadest

not received it? If any blessing of God moves you into pride, that blessing

may not last, it may be short lived, please repent of pride and humble yourself.

    Foundation of Generosity:

Hebrews 13:2 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have

entertained angels unawares. In this year 2013, much more than ever before,

be generous to God. Pay your tithes, give offerings, support the work of God

with your resources, and remember that all you have is given to you by the

Lord. Be generous to your fellowmen, to widows, the fatherless, the poor, and

needy. Be generous to your parents (biological and spiritual).

Honor your parents and those God is using to nurture and feed you spiritu-

    ally.

In conclusion, be wise by being obedient to the Word of God , work

on these foundations, stand on these foundations and 2013 shall be a year

of years for you in Jesus name. Remember Proverbs 9:12 says : If thou be

wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but if thou scornest, thou alone shalt

bear it . Proverbs 9:12 You are the one who will profit if you have wisdom, and if you reject it, you are the one who will suffer. Proverbs 9:10 Fear of

the LORD is the foundation of wisdom. Knowledge of the Holy One results

    in good judgment.

Darlene was sitting on her grandfather's lap as he read her a bedtime story.

From time to time, she would take her eyes off the book and reach up to touch his wrinkled cheek.

She was alternately stroking her own cheek, then his again. Finally she spoke up, 'Grandpa, did God make you?'

'Yes, darling,' he answered, 'God made me a long time ago.'

'Oh,' Darlene paused, 'Grandpa, did God make me too?'

'Yes, indeed, poppet,' he said, 'God made you just a littlewhile ago.

Feeling their respective faces again, Darlene observed,'God's getting better at it, isn't he?'
