Message from Chairman
Dr. N. R. ALAMELU
Esteemed Members,
Greetings,
I feel very happy that the student branches in all the institutions are becoming more active and
dynamic. The number of proposals requesting for the technical and financial support of IEEE for
conducting National and International conferences are also on the increase. IEEE as an
international professional body would be very happy to support all such focused initiatives.
However I only would like to submit the request to the organizers of such conferences to be quite
sure about the quality of the papers in terms of the originality of the contents. This I am writing
with a heavy heart that we do come across a few occasional instances of plagiarism.
I would request all the organizers to meticulously scrutinize to ensure quality of the papers
accepted and presented in such conferences to have technical conferences in its true spirit. This
intern will definitely improve the research culture with all the stakeholders and IEEE as a
professional body will always strive towards excellence in all these activities.
I congratulate the organizers of such conferences and request good number of members to attend
these conferences as delegates and as authors for better learning and exposure.
BEST WISHES
Your Affectionate Office Bearer

I am happy to write editorial for the October issue. I have received some complaints about the
publication of activities. The probelm with the publication of activities is the limited space.
The file contains photographs and it occupies more memory. Some branches are sending
activities conducted from the beginning of the year. It is very difficult to include all the activities
in a single issue. However I taking all efforts to publish all the actvities reported. I have
decided to publish the activities conducted in the month of the issue. If the activities are
reported after the current month, the activities will be published depending on the space
available. I request all the members to report the actibity conduced within the month of
conduction. Any complaint regarding the publication will be entertained and the individual reply
will be given to the sender within a reasonale time. This month issue is divided into two parts
and published.

BERECHNUNG
Berechnung 2014 is an event where the analytical skills of the students are tested. This event
contains two rounds. The first round contains the general aptitude section where the quantitative
skills are tested and the second round is the general group discussion where abstract topics were
given. The first round contained only 10 questions without any options and there were seven
different set of question paper. The main aim of this round is that the students should know the
methods to solve the questions. The questions were from competitive exams like GRE, GMAT,
CAT and also some from the placement papers of different companies. The students were given
20 minutes to solve the questions and it’s made compulsory to all students. The Berchnung event
finally tested the analytical skills and also the communication skills along with the synergic
effect drawing a conclusion for a topic. The main objective of the event is to make teach students
about the techniques to solve the questions and help them to crack the competitive exams and
also help them in placement recruitment process.
