ISM-NJ’s September meeting, which takes place on September 10, 2014, at the Dolce Hotel in Basking Ridge, N.J., will consist
of two unusual (and interesting) topics. The Pre-Dinner Forum will be “Inside the Real World of Paranormal Investi-gating,” presented by Joanne Emmons and Pat Kibby of Paranormal Con-sulting. They will explain how polls show that anywhere from 35% to 48% of Americans believe in ghosts and hauntings. Whether you believe or not, what do you do if inexplicable things begin happening in your own home, to your own family? Perfectly sane and skeptical people find themselves asking this question more often than you might think. For many the answer is to call a team such as Paranormal Consulting & Investigating of New Jersey (PCINJ). Also on the agenda for Pre-Dinner Forum is New Member Orientation presented by Lori Ciculya, Membership Director, and Deborah Augustus, Vice President/Business Development. They
September Monthly Meeting to Feature Paranormal Investigating, History of Secret Service
will explain about member benefits and ISM-NJ programs. The dinner speaker will be Jack Shaughnessy, Vice President Corporate Security, Wyndham Worldwide. Mr. Shaughnessy was a Special Agent of the U.S. Secret Service and will speak on “The History of the U.S. Secret Service.” Come and join us for this fascinating evening. (See page 3 for speaker information.)

Executive Message
One of the biggest benefits of membership in ISM-NJ is the ability to
Network, the ability to share experiences, knowledge and best practices with other
Supply Chain professionals.
Robert J. Murphy, CPSM, President
Greetings! On behalf of your Board of Directors, Com-mittee members and volun-teers, I’d like to welcome
the membership of the ISM-NJ to the 2014-15 program year. I hope you have all had a chance to relax and recharge a little over the summer break before getting back to the daily grind of work and school (and the rush hour traffic that accompanies it). Over the summer, your board and various committees have been meeting to plan an interesting and educational series of program offerings and meeting topics to keep you informed of what’s hap-pening in the rapidly changing world of Supply Chain Management. We kick off the year with a Mem-bership Meeting on Wednesday, September 10th at a new location for us: The Dolce Hotel in Basking Ridge, across from Verizon’s HQ. We will have a New Member Orientation and a program discussing the history and functions of the Secret Service. (Spoiler Alert: They do a lot more than protect the President!) On September 9th we will begin our webinar series with a one-hour program on The Successful Supply Management Function. These webinars have become a staple of the ISM-NJ continuing education effort and all our members should seize the CEH opportunities afforded by them. These are also a great way to get your newer procurement employees involved in continuing education. We will also be offering an on-line CPSM Bridge Exam review on the 19th as well as an all-day program on the 19th at Verizon, Basking Ridge, entitled “Dissecting the Supply Chain - Understand the Founda-tion.” Whether you are looking for a refresher course for yourself or need to get training for new staff, this is a great foundational course. Just click on the Meetings tab on the http://www.ismnj.
org site. October will be just as busy with a Breakfast Meeting on the 9th at the Hotel Somerset on Davidson Ave., Somerset. There are also several full-day courses being offered toward the end of the month. Please see the website for details. Mid–month brings the 6th Annual
Women & Leadership Conference to be held at the Westin Newport in Jersey City. This year’s theme is “Holistic Wellness” and will focus the attendees on Leadership, Wellness and Unleash-ing the Power of Procurement. Please see the link on our website for more details, a list of speakers and topics and Early Bird signup opportunities. There is also still time to become a sponsor of this event so contact Kathy Perna if interested. Wow. That’s a lot and it is only the first two months! Look for more announcements from the Program Committee, Professional Development, the EPG group, Mentoring, Supplier Diversity and Sustainability. There is so much going on and so many dedicated and hard-working volunteers putting together courses and presentations to keep you informed and well ahead of the pack. Please reward their dedication with your support and attendance. One of the biggest benefits of membership in ISM-NJ is the ability to Network, the ability to share experienc-es, knowledge and best practices with other Supply Chain professionals. Your network is a valuable thing and needs to be developed and cultivated. Please take the time to share your talents with your network and you’ll be rewarded for your efforts. I look forward to see-ing you all on the 10th.

Joanne Emmons has been an engineer with AT&T for over 25 years and cur-rently works in AT&T Labs on Internet and Cellular Network Performance. By night she runs Paranormal Consulting & Investigations of New Jersey with her partner, Pat Kibby, helping people with hauntings. Joanne grew up in an actively haunted home in New Hope, Pennsylvania, which led to a life-long study of the paranormal. Her book, I Think My House is Haunted!, merges her passions for science, psychology, and the supernatural. She has been a guest on several radio programs, and her past and upcoming speaking engagements include conferences, a high school, and returning to the public library in her very haunted home town of New Hope.
Pat Kibby has been a supply chain and demand planner with Revlon for a total
Speaker Biographiesof 15 years, and has also worked as Di-rector of Operations in the pharmaceu-tical industry. Aside from her second career as a rock concert photographer, recently graduating Summa Cum Laude from college and being a mother and wife, she has a passion for learning more about different paranormal expe-riences and enjoys being able to help people understand what they are deal-ing with and resolving their troubles to a satisfactory conclusion. Pat has her own radio show, Famously Haunted, broadcasting via internet on www.liveparanormal.com and attends many conferences and lectures in support of both PCINJ and her radio show.
Jack Shaughnessy has served as Vice President of Corporate Security & Business Continuity Planning for Wyndham Worldwide for the past eight years. He oversees all matters of physi-
cal security for Wyndham. Previously he served as a Special Agent of the U. S. Secret Service in Minneapolis, Washington, D.C., New York City and Trenton, as well as on the Presidential detail at the White House. During that time, he served as Lead Advance Agent for domestic and international Presi-dential trips and developed detailed security plans for the President. Jack also devised and coordinated emer-gency operation, relocation/evacuation and crisis management plans for the President; frequently briefed the Na-tional Security Advisor’s senior staff on logistical and security issues relating to foreign travel; served as an undercover agent in international investigations; and led a Financial Institution Fraud Squad for New York City, as well as other high-profile assignments.
