Our purpose at Trinity is to connect people to Jesus, joyfully sharing God's love with them. That’s what we mean by “Connecting.” It’s not a program or an event; it’s a way of living! One of the ways we measure how we are at “connecting,” is on the number of baptisms or professions of faith. However there are some other measures that inform a more complete understanding in seeing how effective we are in sharing the love of God: Number of first-time guests each Sunday: quantifying the number of first-time. Source of new guests: asking how they heard about Trinity, were they invited by a member or did they drive by. Percentage of new guests who return: no church gets 100% of first-time guests to return but tracking the percentage who come a second time gives insight. Membership distribution: of the people who join Trinity in a year, we measure the distribution between children, teens and adults. Out of the adults, we measure the distribution between new Christians, those who have not been active for a couple of years and transferred members. Consequently, the two new cards we have, “the Commitment Card and the Connect Card,” are two important tools that help us determine the effectiveness of Trinity. Please know that these enhancements will help expedite the process for measurement. We hope that they will be useful and helpful to you. The Connect Card is for the member and/or guest who would like to know more about Trinity in order to get connected. This brochure includes general information about Trinity, The City, Worship Service times, opportunities to serve and opportunities to be served.

The Commitment Card replaces the Attendance Card. The changes made were to permit the same card for all worship services that would quickly identify which worship community one attended. Some other changes include: Identifying First Time Guest, Updating Information, Type of Prayer Request, Stephen Ministry connection and suggestions for improvements. For those of you that have been faithful in filling out the previous Attendance Card with your communion participation, it is no longer needed for you to mark it. Faithful participation at the Sacrament remains very important; however, it has been determined that the simplest way we can measure spiritual health is attendance.

Changes have been made to the Offering Envelope. The General Fund, to which our tithes are given, is listed first followed by other funds for special gifts.

The apostle Paul reminds us in Hebrews 10:25, "Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another."

The Trinity Lutheran School Endowment Fund is a permanent fund dedicated to the sustaining support of our own Trinity Lutheran School. Each year, the fund distributes a portion of the interest on investments back to the school. Through God’s generosity

through His people, the 2011 distribution was $20,000. God is truly good.

Trinity Adult Studies for MayDaily Victory, Daily Joy • Dana Stoerkel • Room 206 • Sunday • 9:30 a.m. (04/1 - 06/24)

Daily prayer and Bible study are our strongest weapons against the battles of temptation, trials and discouragement. This study guides participants to strengthen their use of God’s tools of prayer and His Word.

Every Husband a Hero • Pastor Leeland • Mary Martha Fellowship Hall • Sunday • 9:30 a.m. (04/15 - 05/06)This class for men only looks at the biblical basis for being a strong husband. The group will also make breakfast together. Come hungry!

Faith Discovery • Pastor Dorn • Room 123 • Sunday • 9:30 a.m. (04/15 - 06/03)Faith Discovery is an experience where you can ask questions about God and learn about who He is. This class is part of our Discipleship Process at Trinity and may lead to membership.

Peter: Learning to Be Like Jesus • Jim Cleary • Room 211 • Sunday • 9:30 a.m. (03/18 - 06/10)Peter – he demanded that Christ wash his head as well as his feet; he wanted to build three temples; he swore he’d never betray Jesus, and then he did just that three times in the same night; he fell asleep while Jesus prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane. Even with a track record like this, Peter was part of Christ’s most inner circle. He followed Christ like we do, and sometimes, like Peter we struggle with doubts and fail. Still we are loved and forgiven. Simon Peter was a follower like us. He wanted to be like Jesus, but he struggled with doubts, and at times he failed. This study on the life of Peter will show us how God used Peter to advance His Kingdom. He uses us too.

Shepherding a Child's Heart • Lori Roesel and Linda Banes • Room 214 • Sunday • 9:30 a.m. (03/11 - 06/24) All parents want to guide their children to understand themselves and the world they live in and to live in healthy, positive relationships with one another. To do this effectively, parents must do more than just tell kids what to do. Through open communication, self-disclosure and intentionally living out their own values, parents can truly shepherd their children's hearts. From the author: "The central focus of parenting is the gospel. You need to direct not simply the behavior of your children but the attitudes of their hearts."

The Book of Acts • Dave Weinhold • Room 205 • Sunday • 9:30 a.m. (ends 05/27)The 205 Class continues their study of the Book of Acts. As the church spread from Jerusalem to Rome, it was clear that its development was truly the manifestation of Jesus Christ in the lives of the apostles, and so the church continues to spread the Good News today. The Book of Acts records the first-century progress of God’s mission to reach everyone everywhere – even in downtown Houston - with the promise of forgiveness and everlasting life in Christ, and it compels us to continue that mission today.

Twisting the Truth • Phyllis Brockermeyer • Room 232 • Sunday • 9:30 a.m. (04/15 - 06/17)Some lies are little and white, but some are big enough to ruin our relationships, our professional lives, even our eternities. Twisting the Truth is a study that examines four highly destructive lies about authority, pain, sex and sin. We’ll see how to exchange these lies for the eternal truth of God’s love and forgiveness.

We Three Kings • Bill Fischer • Chapel • Sunday • 9:30 a.m. (ongoing)King David is crowned! The Chapel Class continues their study of Saul, David, and Solomon – three of the strongest kings in all history. God’s love and forgiveness for them are His gifts to us as well. To find out more about these incredible Old Testament kings, join the Chapel Class.

Tuesday Morning Women’s Bible Study • Suzanne Kurth • Room 205 • 10:00 a.m. (ends 05/22) The Tuesday Morning Women’s Bible Study group will finish the year with a short study rich in Scripture. If you’ve never been in a Bible study, or if you’d just like to try out a new Bible study, this is a great time.

Bible Breakfast - The Sermon on the Mount • Suzanne Kurth • Wednesday • 8:00 a.m. • Room 232 (03/21 - 05/16)What would it have been like to sit on the hillside and listen to Christ tell you that you’re blessed if you are poor in spirit, grieving, meek? The Sermon on the Mount is one of the greatest sermons ever preached. It describes in startling imagery what human life and humankind look like when they come under the gracious rule of God and when we seek His Kingdom first.

Faithful Families • Natalia Junkans • Wednesday • 5:30 p.m. • Room 232 (04/11 - 05/16)One of the greatest desires we have as parents is to raise children who are faithful to the Father, but how do we do that in our demanding, secular world? Come join with other moms and dads who also want to raise godly young men and women as we continue a study of Faithful Families. This group strives to be encouraging and to hold each other – as well as our kids - close in prayer.

Faith Discovery • Pastor Lytle • Room 124 • Wednesday • 6:30 p.m. (04/18 - 06/06)Faith Discovery is an experience where you can ask questions about God and learn about who He is. This class is part of our Discipleship Process at Trinity and may lead to membership.

Wednesday Women’s Study - The Gospel of Mark • Mary Oliver • Room 205 • 6:30 p.m. (04/11 - 05/16) The Gospel of Mark, the earliest gospel, describes the character of Jesus as a Servant of God. This gospel begins with the baptism and the life of Jesus in Galilee, continues through the transfiguration, follows Jesus and His disciples from Galilee to Jerusalem, concluding with His entry into that holy city (chapter 11); the final section is the story of Jesus' passion -- apocalyptic and addresses the end of time; the final chapter contains the resurrection.

Sonrise Bible Study - Pastor Black • Room 121 • Thursday • 6:30 a.m. (ongoing)There’s no better way to start a day than with time in the Word with fellow Christians. The Sonrise group meets to study God’s Word closely and deeply. Each week this group studies the Scripture from the lectionary for the following Sunday.

Hebrews, chapter 4 tells us: 14 Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
