Vol. 25 No. 46– November 18, 2015 FROM TIM… I LOVED OUR ‘PRAYER SEASON’ – I hope we all grew spiritually from our focus on prayer over the last 6 weeks. I loved the 40 days of prayer journal articles, and I loved the 24-hour prayer vig- il, and I loved our Praying for Memphis Sunday. Let’s make prayer an even bigger part of our lives, and let’s pray with more faith than we ever have before! And let’s keep praying for Memphis and for our outreach. We know our city has its strug- gles, but whether you enjoy living in this area or not, let’s try to develop a godly love for our com- munity and see our life location as a God-given ministry. My prayer is that we will keep finding more ways to show God’s love in the Memphis area! HERE COMES THANKSGIVING – Next week officially begins the “holiday season” with Thanks- giving, which happens to be not only a holiday but also a wonderful biblical theme. A couple plans to share as the holiday approaches: This coming Sunday morning, November 22 nd , we will have our annual worship focused on thanksgiving. (We’ve done it at different times, but this year it will be on Sunday morning again.) In our lesson time, three of our men will share devotional thoughts on something they are thankful are. It is always a meaningful time of worship, and I hope you can be with us. Next week, our midweek assembly will be moved to Tuesday night, November 24 th (we will not meet on Wednesday). The Wednesday before Thanksgiving is always the biggest travel day of the year, so each year we move our midweek services to Tuesday, allowing us to get together as a church family before many of us scatter out of town. It will be a regular midweek assembly with our devotional and midweek Bible classes. We hope you can join us before we all begin our Thanksgiving plans. Sunday morning we will begin another week together with God’s people – let’s make it a great day of worship and encouragement! “Operation Turkey” Great Oaks is starting a new program entitled "Operation Turkey” as an effort to show love and support to preachers and missionary families during the holiday season. This year we will be concentrating on the countries of Peru, Panama, and Costa Rica. We will have a display set up of about 30 preachers / missionaries. We will have about 10 families from each country. You, as a family or group of friends, will take one of the families off of the display. You can put the name on your fridge, Christmas tree, etc. and pray specifically for that family for the weeks leading up to Christmas. Then, when the time comes, you will send in $50 for that specific family so that they can buy a turkey (with all the extra trimmings) for their family to help them celebrate the holidays! You will also include a picture of your family/ group to send to them so they will know who has been praying for them.

FROM TIM…

I LOVED OUR ‘PRAYER SEASON’ – I hope we all grew spiritually from our focus on prayer over the last 6 weeks. I loved the 40 days of prayer journal articles, and I loved the 24-hour prayer vig-il, and I loved our Praying for Memphis Sunday. Let’s make prayer an even bigger part of our lives, and let’s pray with more faith than we ever have before!

And let’s keep praying for Memphis and for our outreach. We know our city has its strug-gles, but whether you enjoy living in this area or not, let’s try to develop a godly love for our com-munity and see our life location as a God-given ministry. My prayer is that we will keep finding more ways to show God’s love in the Memphis area!

HERE COMES THANKSGIVING – Next week officially begins the “holiday season” with Thanks-giving, which happens to be not only a holiday but also a wonderful biblical theme. A couple plans to share as the holiday approaches:

This coming Sunday morning, November 22nd, we will have our annual worship focused on thanksgiving. (We’ve done it at different times, but this year it will be on Sunday morning again.) In our lesson time, three of our men will share devotional thoughts on something they are thankful are. It is always a meaningful time of worship, and I hope you can be with us.

Next week, our midweek assembly will be moved to Tuesday night, November 24th (we

will not meet on Wednesday).

Sunday morning we will begin another week together with God’s people – let’s make it a

great day of worship and encouragement!

“Operation Turkey” Great Oaks is starting a new program entitled "Operation Turkey” as an effort to show

love and support to preachers and missionary families during the holiday season. This

year we will be concentrating on the countries of Peru, Panama, and Costa Rica.

We will have a display set up of about 30 preachers / missionaries.

We will have about 10 families from each country.

You, as a family or group of friends, will

take one of the families off of the display. You can put the name

on your fridge, Christmas tree, etc. and pray specifically for that

family for the weeks leading up to Christmas.

Then, when the time comes, you will send in $50 for that specific

family so that they can buy a turkey (with all the extra trimmings)

for their family to help them celebrate the holidays! You will also

include a picture of your family/ group to send to them so they

will know who has been praying for them.

Registration will be here soon. If you plan on staying at the Opryland hotel with us we need your hotel forms by November 29th. They are located on the L2L table in the breezeway. Please place them in the mailbox next to the table. If we do not receive your form we will not be able to get you a room for convention.

The hotel fees have been broken down into 3 payments to help make it easier for everyone. You don't have to fol-low this payment schedule if it doesn't work for you. We are flexible with that but we would like to have some-thing turned in before the November 29th deadline for the forms. However like the years past if anyone needs help or can't have anything before the deadline please let Nathan Hubbard know. Thank you!
