Lower Glenelg National Park -General Situated in the far south-west of Victoria along the Glenelg River estuary Access from the north off the Princes Highway [A1], from the south off the Portland-Nelson Rd [C192] Site description The Glenelg estuary flows through limestone, providing a spectacular 50 m high gorge, ideal for flat water canoeing. Being at the edge of eastern moist and western dry plant life, there is a wide range of flora and, consequentially, fauna. There are 6 camping sites on the northern bank and 4 on the southern. Although a site may be seen across the river, relocation can involve considerable detours (via Dartmoor &/or Nelson).

Most sites are small, so all must be pre-booked through the Nelson Visitor Information Centre at Nelson (08) 8738 4171 VicRoads 87 A2 Hema 38 G2

Activities

Warnings Some access tracks, especially on the north bank, are sandy - tricky if very wet or dry - check Contact Parks Vic Nelson (08) 8738 4171 CFA District S. West Ref 106
