Principal's Desk:

The newsletter in its fifth volume, second issue continues to replicate fervent

efforts of the faculty, students and the varied activities of the institute. The institute

has visionary leadership of Hon. Ravindraji Mane (Chairman of PSPS) who is

outstanding source of stimulus for our mission of skilled as well as lucid

development of the students. All the disciplines of the institute are imparting add-

on courses to the students in order to upgrade and meet the requirements of

industry. The institute is in constant endeavor of amplifying placements of the

students and establishing all-inclusive Alumni association. We are committed to

prepare our students as such professionals who are capable to cope up with the

challenges in the industrial life. We also extend value added workshops for our

students to make them good human beings with ethical characteristics and social

One Day Seminar on “Supply Chain Management & its industrial implementations”

The department organized One Day Seminar on “Supply Chain stManagement & its industrial implementations” on 1 October, 2015.

The seminar was held at MMS seminar hall. Mr. Amol Lovalekar was the

Resource Person for the Seminar. He has 15 years of industrial

experience and has expertise in the field of SCM and logistics. He has

worked for renowned organizations like Tata Motors, TVS MotoCorp, DHL,

Colgate-Palmolive etc. At present, he is working as Factory Manager,

Hindustan Unilever Ltd. at Lote MIDC plant. Prof. R. V. Dandage

coordinated the seminar. Dr. M. M. Bhagwat (Principal), Prof. Salvi (HOD

MMS) and Prof. Bhandari (HOD Mech) were present during the seminar.

The workshop was attended by 35 students of BE Mechanical who has

opted for Supply Chain Management as elective subject. The students of

second year MMS were also present for the seminar.

One Day Seminar on “Industrial Automation”

The department organised One Day Seminar on “Industrial thAutomation”on 6 August, 2015. The seminar was held at class room No.

15. Mr. Suhas Gadekar was the Resource Person for the Seminar. He has

15 years of industrial experience and has expertise in the field of Industrial

Automation. At present, he is working as Head of Mechanical Department,

Prolific Systems & Technologies Pvt. Ltd. Pune. Prof. R. V. Dandage and

Prof. S. B. Khandekar coordinated the seminar. The workshop was

attended by students of TE and BE Mechanical.(Mr. Suhas Gadekar

Inauguration of Renewable Energy Club

Under the guidance and motivation from Prof. S. R. Bhandari (HOD Mech.

Engg.); Renewable Energy Club (REC) was inaugurated on the

auspicious occasion of Institute's foundation day which is eventually thbirthday of Shri. Ravindraji Mane (Chairman of PSPS) on 17 August 2015.

Prof. A. R. Suware has been deputed as Coordinator of the REC. Shri.

Ravindraji Mane, Mrs. Nehaji Mane (Executive Chairperson), Shri. Dilip

Jadhav (Joint Secretary), Trustees, Principal expressed support for the

SE Students' Induction and Inauguration of MESA

SE students' induction and Inauguration of MESA committee for the academic year 2015-16 was organized on th27 August 2015 in RMCET's seminar hall. Dr. M. M. Bhagwat (Principal), Prof. S. R. Bhandari (HOD), Prof. R.

V. Dandage (MESA coordinator), and Mr. Akshay Sawant (MESA President) addressed the students about

different opportunities, roles and responsibilities in Mechanical Engineering field. The rank holders of SE, TE

and BE (A. Y. 2014-2015) were felicitated.

Industrial Visit

An industrial visit was arranged for SE Mechanical students for the subject PP – I. A total of 40 students

participated in the visit. Even though the IV is not mentioned in the syllabus; the department and faculty

members organized the visit in order to enhance the subject knowledge of the students. They visited thMicrometal Pvt. Ltd. and Mahalakshmi Ispat both at Kolhapur on 13 September 2015.

Meeting of Departmental Advisory Board

thThe meeting of departmental advisory board was held on 05 December

2015. Various aspects related to industry institute interaction, industrial

projects, soft skills development, modern technology courses, campus

recruitment and increasing overall employability of students were

discussed in the meeting. The advisory board members appreciated all

staff members for their dedication and enthusiasm towards progress of

Celebration of Engineer's day]

thThe department organized AQUAJUNKYARD competition on 15

September, 2015 to celebrate the Engineer's day in the memory of Sir M.

Visvesvaraya. The competition was held at the main administrative

building of RMCET. The competition was inaugurated by Dr. M. M.

Bhagwat (Principal, RMCET) in the presence of Prof. S. R. Bhandari

(HOD, Mech. Engg.) and Prof. R. V. Dandage (MESA Coordinator). Prof.

G. S. Jagushte evaluated the performance of various teams. The

competition received huge response from all students. 49 teams from all

branches of RMCET participated in the competition. Vivek Kushwaha &

Omkar Arekar won first prize. Yatin Jadhav & Kishor Kedari won second

prize. The prize for best design was given to Pritesh Mangle and Amruta

Dali.

Celebration of Gurupournima

stThe department celebrated Gurupournima on 31 July, 2015. The

ceremony was held at the old CAD/CAM lab of RMCET. The students of

BE Mechanical organized the ceremony. All teaching staff members of

Mechanical Engineering department were felicitated. Student

representatives expressed their feelings and gratitude towards all tutors in

their life. Prof. S. R. Bhandari (HOD Mech. Engg.) expressed his views on

the relationship of Guru and Shishya and appealed the students to imbibe

the lifelong learning ability for successful life.

Other activities of the department

Autotrendz Timeline

On the occasion of Engineers' Day, Automobile Engineering Students'

Association started a wall magazine entitled “Autotrendz Timeline”. It was

inaugurated by Prof. N. S. Dhole (HOD Auto. Engg.). Students of

Automobile Engg. Department enthusiastically participated in the event. A

documentary of Sir M. Visvesvaraya built up confidence among the

students. The program was chaired by Dr. M. M. Bhagwat (Principal) and

Prof. N. S. Dhole and it was coordinated by Prof. R. D. Rajopadhye.(Faculty and Students)

Celebration of Teachers' Day

thStudents of Automobile Engineering Department celebrated Teachers' Day on 05 September 2015. First two

lectures were conducted by the students to show respect to their teachers. In the evening a program was

conducted for the students. A documentary of Dr. Radhakrishnan was shown and few students delivered

speeches on the occasion.

Industrial Visits

tFinal Year Automobile Students visited HMT Ltd. Hyderabad on 09

September 2015. A total of 42 students and 2 faculty members

participated in the tour. Prof. N. S. Dhole and Prof. S. D. Rawoo

coordinated the study tour.

Second year Automobile students visited Mahalaxmi Ispat Pvt. Ltd.thGokul Shirgaon on 13 September 2015. A total of 35 students and 1

faculty participated in the tour. Prof. Rahul Powar coordinated the tour.

Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering

Workshops/Conferences/Seminars conducted/organized

A workshop on “Microcontroller, Embedded C and Robotics”

The department conducted 5 Days workshop on “Microcontroller, th thEmbedded C and Robotics” during 24 – 28 September 2015. The

workshop covered various topics like Microcontroller based on LED,

LCD, SEVEN Segment assembly & c-programming, robotics based

on same Motor like Stepper, Servo, DC-Motor. The events were

conducted at Communication LAB. The program was arranged by

ELITE committee. TE EXTC students enthusiastically participated in the

workshop. Prof. P. D. Waikar welcomed the students and briefed the

schedule. Mr. Rajesh Ragase Shared his knowledge and expertise

with the students on the subject of Microcontrollers based on

assembly, C Programming and Robotics.

A workshop on “Microcontroller, Embedded C and Robotics”

The department organized a Seminar on “Industrial Automation using

PLC SCADA”. The Seminar was organized at Seminar Hall of RMCET thon 06 August 2015. The program was arranged by ELITE committee.

Faculty members, ELITE committee members and students of BE and TE

EXTC were present for the Seminar. Prof. A. P. Joshi (Event In-charge)

welcomed the Resource persons, teachers and students, and briefed

the schedule to be followed. Mr. Vivek Sardal shared the idea behind the

Automation and scope of automation through the presentation. Prof. A. P.

Joshi offered the vote of thanks.

Other activities of the department

Celebration of Engineer's Day

The department celebrated Engineer's Day in the memory of Sir M V. The function was followed by

various technical and non-technical events like Robo-Race, Calci-War, Circuit Mounting. The events thwere conducted at class room no.1, 2, 3 and ED hall of RMCET on 15 September 2015. The program was

arranged by ELITE committee. Faculty members, ELITE committee members were present for the function.

Mr. Akshay Bavkar (event co-ordinator) of ELITE welcomed the students and briefed the schedule to be

followed. Mr. Owais Parkar & Mr. Pratik Pawar anchored the Robo-Race event. Mr. Shankar Chavan and

Mr. Abhishekh Shigwan coordinated the event. Ms. Surabhi Pillai and Ms. Rutuja Jadhav coordinated

the Calci-War event. Ms. Sindhuja Dubey coordinated the event of Circuit Mounting. Winners of all the

events were honored and bestowed with prizes.

Workshop on “Ethical Hacking and Cyber Security”

Celebration of Engineer's Day

Under the banner of Association of Computer Engineering, Computer department organized a workshop on th th“Ethical Hacking and Cyber Security” on 08 & 09 August 2015 which was conducted by Geeks lab. 51

students enthusiastically participated in the workshop. The workshop was coordinated by Prof. V. N. Malvade.

Induction Programme

In order to welcome Second year students of Computer Engineering, ACE thorganized Induction Programme on 07 September 2015. Dr. M. M.

Bhagwat (Principal RMCET) shared thoughts on the occasion and

appealed for the excellence in the academic as well as co-curricular

activities. Prof. L. S. Naik (HOD Computer Engg.) also expressed views

about the vision and mission of the department and encouraged the

On the occasion of Engineer's day, ACE organized Poster Designing and

Speech Competition. In addition to that “Poster Exhibition” was also

arranged to display the posters designed in competition. The event

received a huge response from the staff as well as students of all

departments of RMCET.

Department of Information Technology

One Week Workshop on Core Java

A One Week workshop on “Core Java” was organized by the department th thduring 24 – 28 September 2015. Mr. Sanjay Degaonkar (Free lance

trainer) was the resource person for the workshop. Dr. M. M. Bhagwat

(Principal, RMCET) expressed views about the purpose of organizing the

workshop. Prof. M. Y. Gadkari (HOD IT) encouraged the students to

perceive benefits from the workshop. The students of IT Department

enthusiastically participated in the workshop.

Celebration of Engineer's Day

On the occasion of Engineer's Day, a technical event entitled th“PROTOCOL” was organized by the department on 15 September 2015.

It constituted of various events like LAN Gaming, Quiz, and Aptitude.

Students of various departments participated in all the events with vigor

and interest.

Marketing Activity

thThe department organized “Marketing Activity” on 11 September, 2015 at RMCET's Main Administrative

Building. The inauguration was done by Dr. M. M. Bhagwat (Principal, RMCET). The funds were collected for

the “Indian Association for The Blind”. Staff, students and visitors voluntarily contributed for this organization.

The motto of this activity was to get the practical knowledge related to concepts like Sales Development

Process, Products and Pricing Strategies, Advertising, Sales Management, etc.

The students of MMS I and II year participated in this activity. The students were grouped and each group

displayed products for sale. The stalls were organized by each group. The products sold during this activity

were: Mobile Accessories, Sandwiches, Chocolates, Pens, Lemon & Orange Juice, Corn Bhel. There was

heavy competition between all the groups. The giant profit makers were rewarded with trophies by Hon. Shri.

Ravindraji Mane (Chairman PSPS). Dr. M. M. Bhagwat (Principal), Prof. Mahavir Salvi (HOD MMS), all the staff

members Prof. Ajay Razdan, Prof. Siddharth Patil, Prof. Rohit Malagi, Prof. Harshala Dutondkar and all the

selected in L & T Infotech, Mumbai as Graduate Engineer Trainee with package of 3.00 Lakh/annum: Mr. Zilu

Rane (BE COMP), Mr. Abhay Gawade (BE COMP), Mr. Subhashchandra Joshi (BE COMP), Mr. Paul

Fernandes (BE IT)

thThe Persistent Pool Campus interview was scheduled at RMCET on 27 November 2015. 28 students were

shortlisted for the same form Kokan region engineering colleges. After Aptitude, Technical Round & HR

following student were selected in Persistent, Pune as Graduate Engineer Trainee with package of 3.5

Lakh/annum: Ms. Karishma Pednekar (BE IT), Mr. Akshay Kalmbate (BE COMP)

Persistent System Ltd. Pune Pool Campus Interviews @ RMCET

RMCET signed MOU with SEED Infotech, Pune for providing special training to all the students of RMCET from

SE, TE, BE & MMS. This program will help students to improve their knowledge in terms of Aptitude tests,

Communication and Interview techniques. It is scheduled in January 2016; wherein Institute will bear the

course fee of all the students.

Monster College Program

RMCET signed MOU with MONSTER COLLEGE PROGRAM for all the BE students with the objective of

widening placements in the industries. The program is scheduled in January 2016; wherein Institute will bear

the course fee of all the students.

Nature Club

A trekking tour to Panhala fort and Pawan khind was organized under

Nature Club of RMCET on 26 July 2015. Prof. M. S. Prabhavalkar

(Coordinator) and Prof. G. V. Burshe (Co-coordinator) along with 50

students from all branches participated in the tour.
