first meeting of the year will I be September 14 at Schraffts. Mrs. ,William D. Bennett; Town Historian, will speak on "Historic Homes in the Bethlehem Area." Social Hour at 6:30, dinner at 7 o'clock.

New Service President Lester W. Herzog,

Jr., announced today that "On September 12th National Commercial Bank and Trust Company will introduce Bancardchek, a new and unique bank service combining the advantages of credit cards, travelers' checks and preferred loan privileges." This new service. exclusive with National Commercial Bank in northeastern New York, will be I

introduced simultaneously by a network of commercial banks across the nation.

Mr. Herzog stated that Bancardchek will provide the customer with "instant cash or credit on a nation-wide basis and, in the customer's community, the service will promote business for local merchants_" He said that Bancardcheks will be readily acceptable everywhere because they have the same guarantee as cashier's or certified checks when presented with the Bancardchek identification card; that merchants, restaurants, hotels, and other businesses are particularly receptive to the service as they will receive the full amount, unlike ordinary credit card plans.

The customer will receive an identification card and $500 or more in Bancardcheks, each worth up to $25, $50 or $100, to be used with a regular account. Canceled Bancardcheks will be sent to the customer with, and itemized on, the monthly checking account statement. When· ever the customer draws a sum greater than the checking account balance, National Commercial Bank will automatically establish a loan for the amount borrowed at the-bank rate and include this on the statement record. As loan advances are repaid in monthly instalments, this money will become available

According to Mr. Herzog, the Bancardchek service will simplify the keeping of expense records of corporate and small businesses and professional people. For companies whose executives and salesmen use Bancardchek the need to tie up capital in expense account advances will be eliminated.

BANCARDCHEK WELCOME signs will be supplied by National Commercial Bank to busi, nesses throughout northeastern New York State.

do pennies make a difference in your food bill? You bet they do.

And we should know.

We built our business by saving pennies

for generations of folks like you.

For instance, take our policy on multiple-priced items.

If an item is priced 3 for 251, the price for one is obviously 91,

But what h~ppens if you want two?

Do you pay 2 times 91 or 18/?

Not atA&P.

We sell it at 2 for 17/.

That's the fair way- the A&P way.

Yes, in the food business ...

in food budgeting, pennies make a difference.

We watch them for you and for us.

Is this a good reason for shopping A&P? It's one of many.

,--18th century architecture for the needs of 20th century living.

Seven basic designs are offered in the community-oneand two-story colonial Cape Cod, garrison, gambrel, salt hox farm house.

All houses feature wrought iron door latches, pegged wide plank flooring, flagstone entrances, huge fireplaces and rubbed wood cabinetry.

Homes are priced from $35,000 to $50,000. Residents will have exclusive use of a swimming pool in the community as well as a spacious 9-hole golf course.

Designed for growing families, the homes are enhanced by two-car garages and all electric kitchens.

The homes are customized for individual families, offering six cabinet styles alone, in a choice of three woods and nine hand rubbed finishes.

Untouched areas are graced with natural growth of pine, oak and birch trees, while wood roofed mailboxes stained to match the homes and street signs swinging from the wooden posts fit in with the natural motif in the community.

Most homes are stained, not painted, to Williamsburg hues, offering a double blessing since less maintenance is required.

Financing is available to prospective buyers for the nine home and 13 lots still available in the community.

Your brother's picture was received at our office during the time of year that an avalanche of pictures hits us from colleges all over this country. To keep the pictures in order and use. them all in the order they are received is an almost impossible job.
