Pastor’s Pen

Br. John Guerra - Associate Pastor

I hope you enjoyed the movie as much as I did. Remember, God’s Not Dead! In fact He is very much at work. Last Sunday we talked about changing our attitude putting a focus on seeing God at work. Take a few minutes in your Growth Groups over the next few weeks to talk about where you saw God at work. Remember, it does not have to be earth shaking to be God at work. Let’s all catch God at work and join Him there.

We are moving closer to our first goal in the “Moving

Towards More Ministry”” bus goal. Let’s knock out

goal one by the end of April. That means gathering

around $30,000. I know this is a big goal, but we have

an even bigger God. What are you giving to finish the

first part of this goal?

Pastor Grant Bowles - Senior Pastor

Goal: $7,000 Total: $6,189

family, he obeyed and left his country (Gen 12:1-4), was circumcised (17:10, 26), conceived Isaac in his old age (21:1-3), and sent his son Ishmael away (21:9-14). By the time he was asked to offer Isaac as a sacrifice, he already knew that his God would always be faithful to His promises. Previous experiences had taught Him to trust in the Lord. In the same way, each small step of obedience strengthens our faith in God. So that when He challenges us with a more difficult assignment, a firm foundation of assurance enables us to trust and obey Him. Great acts of faith grow from our past interactions with the Lord. If you’re having trouble trusting God for something big, maybe it’s because you’ve ignored the “small” and “less significant” promptings of the Holy Spirit. All of the Lord’s commands are important and He promises to reward every act of obedience, regardless of size. Great faith begins with a little step of commitment, not just involvement. Are you a committed church member or just involved? It all starts with faith. Where is our faith? What are we trusting in; our efforts, abilities, hard work, intelligence, personality, looks, family? Anything less than trusting in Almighty God will not save us, strengthen our relationships, or give us peace in this messed up world. Without faith, we may be involved, but we will never be a committed church member.

Small Steps “The Kamikaze pilot who was able to fly 50 missions was involved, but not committed.” Lou Holtz “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” Most of us would like to be like Abraham, with faith that trusts God for anything or gets them through anything. But, it doesn’t just happen, that’s not the way God operates. Faith increases as a result of our obedience in little things. We’re amazed at Abraham’s willingness to offer up Isaac when the Lord commanded.

But we see a history of smaller steps of faith, no he was not perfect, but along with some of his missteps and lack of faith, we can see his smaller steps of submission that prepared the way for this epic test? Abraham obeyed God throughout his life. When the Lord gave him the command, he left his home and his
