THE MOUNTAINEERS LAST TIME OUT (9/29/12)EOU FALLS TO COLLEGE OF IDAHOCaldwell, Idaho - The East-ern Oregon Volleyball team lost a tough match Friday night against The College of Idaho 1-3. The Mountaineers (12-5, 6-3 Cascade Collegiate Con-ference) won the first set 25-21 but couldn’t pull out another victory after that. EOU was led by Taylor Stewart and Casey Loper who both had 12 kills. Rebecca Haight was close behind with 11. Jessica Perron lead in assists with 24 on the night, and Karly stack added 21. Kaityln Duncan had a game high 26 digs followed by Stewart with 13. The first set saw ten early ties before EOU pulled away. The Mountaineers went up by four off of a service ace from Duncan and held on for the rest of the set. In the second set the War-riors got off to a great start and took a 5-2 early lead. EOU would come back and tie the game up at 11-11. The Warriors would even-tually be too much and only allow EOU five more points for the rest of the game. The third set, C of I began with a 5-1 lead. Alisha Crane’s kill put an end to the surge and the Moun-taineers would eventually pull within one 10-9. The

game stayed close through-out the set. Haight put the Mountaineers within one 23-24 late in the set but, C of I would score on the next play to end the game In the final set, the Yotes took another early lead and never looked back. The Mountaineers closed the gap 14-16, off a kill by Crane, but wouldn’t come any closer than that as the Yotes would go on to win 25-20. Jessica Peacock lead the Yotes in kills with a game high 15. Sierra Porter had a game high 48 assists while Janel Porter had 21 digs.EOU will travel to Caldwell, Idaho for a meet-ing with Coyotes in an I-84 battle. The College of Idaho improved to 11-4 overall and 8-0 in conference with a four-set win against Con-cordia. Live video and stats will be available on EOUs-ports.com.
