Area 2 President

Hello Area 2 members
and advisors! My
name is Anna Pischer
and I am your 2012-
2013 Area 2 Presi-
dent. I am a junior at
Henry M. Jackson
High School. In my
role as your Area 2
President, I would
like to increase the
communication and
networking between
members of Area 2. In
doing so, I will make
four newsletters over
the course of this year
to promote Area 2
events such as the
Minute-to-Win it night
and Chapter Officer
meetings. I will also
continue the Area 2
Spirit Award! When I
am not busy with
DECA, I like spending
my time running cross
country or hurdles and
spending time with
family and friends!
Always feel free to
contact me anytime
via Facebook and/or
e-mail. I cannot wait
to see everything
this year has to
bring! Keep on the
look out for the next
newsletter coming
out in November!

September 2012
Area 2 Spirit Award This 2012-2013 year, go for the gold in
Spirit! Do you think your chapter has what it
takes to be the most spirited chapter in all of
Area 2? Starting on September 18th, 2012,
the Area 2 Spirit Award point will start being
calculated. Look at the diagram below for how
points will be given to each chapter.
The purpose of the Spirit Award is to
encourage chapter involvement in Area 2
events. If your chapter is announced the win-
ner of the Spirit Award this January at the
Area 2 Development Conference, your chap-
ter will receive a huge trophy with your chap-
ter’s name engraved on the trophy itself! If you
have any questions, please ask Anna!

Ronald McDonald House For the past 5 years, Washington
DECA has proudly supported the Ronald
McDonald House Charities. The RMHC
strives to provide a “home-away-from-
home” for little to no cost to families of sick
children. Even though the families are
asked to pay $25 a night, they will never
be turned away if the family cannot pay.
This is where Washington DECA can help.
Every year a monetary goal of how much
to raise is set by the Washington DECA
State Officers, and this 2012-2013, Team
Ascend has made a goal of $25,000! Area
2, we need your help! Volunteer at a local
Ronald McDonald House, involve a drive
within your chapter, and contribute in Mira-
cle Minutes at WRLC, Area, and SCDC to
make Washington’s DECA goal!
MDA (Muscular Dystrophy Association)
National DECA has a charita-
ble partnership with MDA, the Muscu-
lar Dystrophy Association. This non-
profit organization is dedicated to cur-
ing muscle diseases. This spring, your
Washington DECA State Officer team
will participate in a 5k run at ICDC to
raise funds for MDA. Follow National
DECA President, Morgan Thompson’s
blog on deca.org to learn more about
how DECA is helping MDA.
Chapter Visitations Kick off your 2012-2013 DECA year by inviting Anna Pischer, your Area 2 President, to your
DECA chapter! Whether it be during the school day, after school at a chapter meeting, or a fun activity
your chapter is putting on, invite Anna! This is one of the best ways to earn Spirit Award points towards
your chapter! By having Anna visit your DECA chapter, you will receive 75 Spirit Award points!
Here is how to schedule a visitation:
1) Contact your advisor about having Anna visit
2) Contact Anna via Facebook or e-mail
3) Find a date that works for both your chapter and Anna
4) Earn 75 Spirit Award points for your DECA Chapter
