fancy; imagination sleep (and)

memory

(They are) right knowledge, wrong knowledge, fancy, sleep, and memory.

Here again, on a cursory examination, the five-fold classification may appear

rather odd but a deeper study will show that it is perfectly scientific. If we analyse our

mental life, as far as its content is concerned, we shall find it to consist of a great

variety and number of images, but a closer study of these images will show that they

can all be classified under the five broad sub-heads enumerated in this Sutra. Before

we deal with each of these separately in-the subsequent five Sutras let us try to

understand the underlying system of classification in a general way.

Pramana and Viparyaya comprise all those images which are formed by some

Page 4: Volume: 1 Issue 6 August Month E Magazine - The World …theworldunited.org/twuya/emag/august-2014.pdf · Patanjali Yoga Sutra 6 ... Dhyan and bhakti are the major means to attain

kind of direct contact through the sense organs with the outer world of objects.

Vikalpa and Smrti comprise all those images or modifications of the mind which are

produced without any kind of direct contact with the outer world. They are the result

of the independent activity of the lower mind using the sensuous perceptions which

have been gathered before and stored in the mind. In the case of Smrti or memory

these sensuous perceptions are reproduced in the mind faithfully, i.e. in the form and

order in which they were obtained through the sense-organs previously. In the case

of Vikalpa or imagination they are reproduced in any form and order from the

sensuous material present in the mind. The imagination can combine these

sensuous perceptions in any form or order, congruous or incongruous but the power

of combining the sensuous perceptions is under the control of the will. In the dream

state the will has no control over these combinations and they appear before

consciousness in haphazard, fantastic and frequently absurd combinations

influenced to a certain extent by the desires present in the sub-conscious mind. The

higher Self with its will and reason has, as it were, with drawn beyond the threshold

of consciousness, leaving the lower mind partly entangled with the brain deprived of

the rationalizing influence of reason and the controlling in-fluence of will. When even

this remnant of the lower mind also withdraws beyond the threshold of brain

consciousness we have dreamless sleep or Nidra. In this state there are no mental

images in the brain. The mind continues to be active on its own plane but its images

are not reflected on the screen of the physical brain.

Now, let the student examine his mental activity in the light of what has been

said above. Let him take any modification of the lower concrete mind which works

with names and forms and see whether he cannot put it under one or the other of

these five groups. He will find to his surprise that all modifications of the lower mind

can be classed under one or the other of these subheads and therefore the system

of classification is quite rational. It is true that many modifications on analysis will be

found to be complex and come under two or more groups but the various ingredients

will all be found to fit under one or another of the five groups. That is why the Vrttis

are called Pancatayyah, five-fold.

Page 5: Volume: 1 Issue 6 August Month E Magazine - The World …theworldunited.org/twuya/emag/august-2014.pdf · Patanjali Yoga Sutra 6 ... Dhyan and bhakti are the major means to attain

It may be asked why only the modifications of the lower concrete mind have

been taken into account in this classification of the Citta-Vrttis. Citta comprises all the

levels of the mind, the lowest of which is called the lower Manas functioning through

the Manomaya Kosa and dealing with concrete mental images with names and

forms.

The answer to this question is obvious. The ordinary man whose consciousness is

confined to the lower mind can conceive of only these concrete images which are

derived from perceptions through the physical sense-organs. The Citta-Vrttis

corresponding to the higher levels of the mind though more definite and vivid and

capable of being expressed indirectly through the lower mind are beyond his

comprehension and can be perceived on their own planes in the state of Samadhi

when consciousness transcends the lower mind. Yoga starts with the control and

suppression of the lowest kind of Citta-Vrttis with which the Sadhaka is familiar and

which he can understand. No useful purpose could be served by dealing with the

Citta-Vrttis corresponding with the higher levels of the mind even if these Citta-Vrttis

were amenable to ordinary classification. The Sadhaka has to wait till he learns the

technique of Samadhi.

Spiritual Truth and Experiences

Almost all religions or sects or scriptures have mentioned only one God or

Supreme soul. Almost all sages, incarnations or seers of every religion have

talked and pointed toward infinite, formless ultimate truth. But common man,

instead of walking on the path shown by different sages, has assumed the

path itself as the destination. This false notion led to the creation of so many

religions and sects. Some converted into Hindus, some into Christians, some

became Muslims etc. But Rare have the lust to find the ultimate truth and true

knowledge. Only those who dare, start the journey against all odds. Rest all

get stuck due to their old values and past conditionings.

That supreme Truth is referred by different names- the truth, Paramatma,

God, Supreme Soul, Self and Mother nature etc. All refer to the one who is

the creation and the creator itself. There are many ways to reach the ultimate

truth. Dhyan and bhakti are the major means to attain them. I have walked

both the paths and have attained the truth through them. There are more than

100 methods of practicing for to reach the meditative state. Seeker can

choose any one of them according to his body and mind setup. One must do

meditation at least for one hour daily for 90 days and if the method does not

work for him only then he should change to next method.

All the methods of meditation are means of awakening the inactive kundalini

Shakti. Kundalini starts vibrating automatically in presence of an enlightened

Guru, so its best to meditate in presence of a true guru. But doing it alone or in

a group also works and eventually one reaches there. Once you start on the

sadhna path, mother nature showers all its compassion and takes care of you

in proportion of your dedication.

When the Kundalini crosses all chakra of body and unites with universe, the

state of chaitanya or awaken-ness is attained. When one starts meditation,

there are many divine experiences that start happening, which give the sense

of attainment of ultimate truth. Many deluded seekers stop their journey in

Page 7: Volume: 1 Issue 6 August Month E Magazine - The World …theworldunited.org/twuya/emag/august-2014.pdf · Patanjali Yoga Sutra 6 ... Dhyan and bhakti are the major means to attain

illusion that they have reached and end up boasting themselves and

preaching to masses.

In spiritual journey seeker experiences and sees Gurus, Angels, Deities, Sun

or Light according to ones perception and culture. Some of these experiences

are created by self-imagination and mind power, sometimes they are real. In

fact, to keep the faith of seeker on the sadhna path, the Supreme soul itself

show things according to mind setup and perception of seeker just to keep up

the motivation. But still the seeker has to be very alert to not to get identified

by those pseudo experiences/darshan of Gods and Goddesses, it is very

tempting phenomenon, and those who stop there on their sadhna path are

stuck there forever. I don't say that Deities don't exist, at mind level everything

exists , but at no-mind level, there is nothing left. Even one‟s self submerges

in the supreme.

So everything is there but still it's not! And that is other topic to talk about.

Enlightenment or awakening is a state when one realizes that atma is not the

body, that atma is different from physical body. Some sadhaks have even

reported that they have seen their soul, on this I ask them if they can see their

own soul, then who was seeing it? Is it soul watching its own soul ? No, you

cannot see your soul because you yourself are a soul. You can only know

yourself, the soul can only be realized through knowledge and that stage is

called enlightenment or awakening. To be continued

Pranapat, Shaktipat, Shivapat – The essence of Kriya Yoga

Pranapat, Shaktipat, Shivapat – The essence of Kriya Yoga

We are almost hypnotized by modern Medical science to think that we are physical

body. But the fact is every human being is a seven body system. From gross to

subtler to subtlest the sequence of these seven bodies is as follows: Physical –

Etheric – Astral – Mental – Causal – Cosmic – Nirvanic. All these seven bodies are

interwoven and it forms various ellipsoids around physical body which can be seen

by a clairvoyant person and can also be photographed by modern Kirlian cameras.

The second body which is touching the physical body is called Etheric body which is

made of Prana hence it is also known as Pranamaya Kosha or Pranic Body. When

we touch upon this body, we get the experience of Prana Shakti. This experience is

known as Pranapat. Some simple Kriya exercises when done properly can

immediately induce this experience in a very simple manner. Pranapat experience

has many advantages such as healing of physical body, removal of stress,

depression, anxiety etc.

When we develop our awareness of breath we can see that most of the time, one of

the nostrils is dominant and the other one is slightly blocked. Left nostril is known as

Ida naadi or Chandra naadi while right nostril is known as Pingala naadi or Surya

naadi. Breathing through left nostril creates coolness in the body while breathing

through right nostril creates heat in the body. When both these nostrils are perfectly

balanced, it opens the middle path known as Shushumna naadi. When the Kundalini

Shakti rises from Muladhara Chakra, it pierces other five chakras (Swadhistan –

Manipura – Anahata – Vishuddhi – Agya) and opens the Sahashrara chakra. This

Page 9: Volume: 1 Issue 6 August Month E Magazine - The World …theworldunited.org/twuya/emag/august-2014.pdf · Patanjali Yoga Sutra 6 ... Dhyan and bhakti are the major means to attain

free flowing experience of Kundalini Shakti is known as Shaktipat. Such Shaktipat

experience helps to balance various hormonal secretions from endocrine glands

which help to create holistic health. It also cleanses various subtle bodies and

prepares a seeker for higher journey on the path to enlightenment. When we do the

practices of super conscious meditations in the presence of an enlightened Master,

Shaktipat happens on its own accord.

When our subtle bodies are cleansed and the awareness grows further with deeper

meditation, awareness expands on its own accord. This is thoughtless state of

consciousness with expanded awareness. This is Shivapat. This is enlightenment.

This is also the “Guru –Kripa”. This is a “Stateless state” in which Guru resides and

by being with a Guru, a disciple who is ready for the higher journey gets a glimpse of

it. For a disciple, it becomes Satori experience that motivates him to walk the path

with greater confidence. Shivapat experience just happens by being with a Master!

13 chapters of Tripura Rahasya repeatedly hammer home the same point,

emphasizing the presence of the Master for such an inductive or synchronistic

experience!

Q: What is the difference between Shaktipat and Shivapat?

Prem Nirmal: Shaktipat is “Energy Transfer” from Master to Disciple. At lower level it

is Pranapat. It elevates your Prana-Shakti and you gain health. At times, few

Shaktipat Masters open the chakras with Shaktipat but the real Shaktipat awakens

the Kundalini and it is rare! Masters who can handle Kundalini awakening of

individuals are rare and those who can do such experiments at mass level are

rarest!!

Shivapat is NOT “Energy Transfer”. Shivapat is all about Master sharing his own

Enlightenment with the disciples by instantly raising them to newer dimension of

awakening. Shivapat experience will take you to higher levels of Awareness and will

help you to walk your own path in true sense. Through Shivapat experiences when

Master shares his Enlightenment, disciple gets it as Satori experience! Satory

experience is a glimpse of enlightenment. It becomes permanent when you listen to

words of the Master and remain in the higher understanding which is your own! All of

you who have attended Aura workshop have seen the magical effects of Shivapat.

How instantly it elevates your awareness and the effect is you actually start “seeing”

with two eyes! In genuine spirituality there is no component of imagination. All those

Page 10: Volume: 1 Issue 6 August Month E Magazine - The World …theworldunited.org/twuya/emag/august-2014.pdf · Patanjali Yoga Sutra 6 ... Dhyan and bhakti are the major means to attain

who focus on “Third Eye” they are not seeing, they are hallucinating! When Kundalini

rises up to third eye; one starts hallucinating. It‟s only when the wisdom eye opens,

hallucinations stop! This is proven scientifically and also statistically. And the most

important point here is – unless your awareness grows, you will never be able to

differentiate between what is real and what is hallucination. Most seekers today are

caught-up in “Mind Games” because they do not have right methodology of

“Awareness Development”. Path to liberation is not through the hallucinations of third

eye; it is through awareness development with understanding.

All those who are running after “Experiences” let us have right understanding of this

very experience. The very nature of “Experience” is such that it cannot last forever!

Hence do not hang on to your old experiences. What you are hanging on is only the

“memory” of that experience and not the real experience! In fact, hanging on to the

memory of an experience becomes hurdle to have further experiences! Consider all

experiences as passing phase! All experiences belong to the “Experiencer”! And who

is the experiencer? Ego is the experiencer! When you have no more experiences,

that is the real experience (Anubhuti)! No experience is sustainable. Only

Understanding is sustainable. Learning the scriptures is necessary to develop the

understanding. Only those who have systematic learning approach and do

appropriate Sadhana grow on the spiritual path. This way you develop your

“Experiential Understanding”.

Master‟s presence is a blessing of life. In the presence of the Master, the growth is

fastest. First thirteen chapters of “Tripura Rahasya” consistently convey this

message! Gurudev Dattatreya helps the disciple Parshuram on the path to

enlightenment in his own presence! Parshuram is considered as Vishnu‟s Avatar. If a

Vishnu‟s avatar needs a live Guru, what about you and me? Other Vishnu‟s avatars

Rama had his Guru in Vashishta Rishi. Krishna had Sandipani Rishi as his Guru.

I have tremendous Gratitude for my Master Sri Dada Gavand in whose presence the

light of awareness – Enlightenment – happened. Sri Ranjit Maharaj who taught me to

fly in “Vihangam Marga‟ (The Way of a Bird). At present I am learning the secrets of

“Pashupat Shaivism” at the lotus feet of an Immortal Yogi and you all know him very

well. Learning in the presence of a live Guru – what a blessing of life!!!

All my friends who are seriously interested in learning – here are few insightful

landmarks from my own life.

1) The first level of understanding happened to me by learning Bhagvad Geeta and

Vedanta (various Upanishads) from Swami Chinmayananda. This is the

understanding of 25 elements. This phase helped me to become a sincere seeker –

a mumukshu.

2) Next level of understanding happened by being with a very unorthodox Master Sri

Dada Gavand. He helped me to be more attentive and the light of awareness grew

leading to enlightenment.

3) Third level of Understanding happened by being with Sri Ranjit Maharaj. He

taught to fly in Vihangam Marg – A way of a bird.

4) Next level of Understanding happened through Shivapat experience given by Sri

Lakshamanjoo Maharaj in astral dimension and 36 elements of Kashmir Shaivism

were revealed and further higher Understanding happened that completed the jigsaw

puzzle of my understanding!

5) Now the next level of higher learning of secrets of immortality is happening by

learning Pashupat Shaivism with 46 elements. The journey continues…

Healing Self

„ by ShriSatishji

Is healing cure or a relief? We have never understood healing. We think that healing

is something, which we can give to others, but actually healing is to participate in

balancing our universal system, which we have destroyed through our thoughts and

actions. Healing is what self does to another self.

There are two minds, the one you know as personal mind and the other is spiritual

mind, which is universal mind too. Personal mind is small „i‟ and spiritual mind is big

„I‟. Personal mind does not know its real „I‟, that ignorance is called ego or

selfishness or individuality. Big „I‟ is consciousness, God, Love, Atman, Bhagwan

and many more names given to it. Once you connect to your bigger „I‟ your individual

„i‟ is dissolved. You merge in nature and act as nature (which is your real

„Swabhava‟) in complete co-ordination with universe and each atom and sub atom of

universe. You are healed in complete sense. You become Aware of your „Aatmic-

Self‟, of what you are. You start living as complete existence of self. You are the

Universe and you will express yourself as love to whole humanity.

In Awareness you become more sensitive to life. Your mind (small „i‟) is merged with

universal mind (big „I‟) and once this big „I‟ operates through you, you become most

powerful person, that union of minds is called „YOGA‟ = Union. You happen to

participate in the process of creativity and that is the process of healing. Your desires

and desires of nature becomes same. You act in complete tandem with everything

and everyone. And to begin with the process, Mantras are the password to excess

your own energy field. It is sound vibration to attract the vibration in the same

Page 13: Volume: 1 Issue 6 August Month E Magazine - The World …theworldunited.org/twuya/emag/august-2014.pdf · Patanjali Yoga Sutra 6 ... Dhyan and bhakti are the major means to attain

http://www.theworldunited.org/twuya/index.html Page 13

frequency. The higher you go towards divinity it becomes more and more subtle and

than no sound…. You simply merge into silence, Mantras are from your small „i‟ and

silence is of the big „I‟.

Buddha said “You are what you think”. Do you really know what do you think?

Human beings exist as conscious beings and that consciousness comes back to you

once you become aware of it. Awareness is to recognize THAT consciousness. Let

us understand the process to become aware. External Awareness is facts, data,

historic events, results and conclusions, restrictions and resources, Geographical

diagrams, sounds, visuals, etc. And internal Awareness is sensations, feelings,

emotions, impulses, thoughts, etc. What we call mind is simply collection of

information and all the food you ate got converted made this body. Soul is beyond

the mind and body, so you can say that both, body and mind is collection from

outside and only the soul is eternal.

Do you need to heal the soul? No!! it is only the body and its information that has got

some kind of a virus which needs healing. You need to process in differently. You

have to know that the way you handled your body and mind was not enough to

remove the virus, so a healer was needed.

Can a healer heal you? Again my answer is no. It is you who has to adapt a different

technique, which can help you to align yourself to universal self. A healer is simply a

medium or a guide to show you a path.

Our healing does not happen because of the way we think, in our thinking our small

„i‟ (ego) is only active, our big „I‟ is ignored. Our healer is our big „I‟. What you know

as small „i‟ is simply the information you have collected in growing, and you are dyed

in that information. You can only think what you know, in this knowing you pick up

things what you are comfortable with. This is conscious choice, and all your

sufferings are your conscious choice. This choice builds up your character, which is

known as „Sanskaras‟ (impressions of the past),you are building these„Sanskaras‟

every moment day after day.

Now… what you chose in your past, you hold on to that past as final result of your

being instead of learning. Holding on to this past you choose to suffer and you live as

a victim to that situation of the past. This kind of stress and discomfort you live with

Page 14: Volume: 1 Issue 6 August Month E Magazine - The World …theworldunited.org/twuya/emag/august-2014.pdf · Patanjali Yoga Sutra 6 ... Dhyan and bhakti are the major means to attain

Volume: 1 Issue 6 August Month E Magazine

http://www.theworldunited.org/twuya/index.html Page 14

and you look for a healer to cure your sufferings instead of dropping your past and

moving to new. Moving in new always, is a meditative way of living and that is a way

to heal your being in this physical world.

I will give you an example of what kind of life we are living, suppose we are travelling

in a train and we have some luggage in our hands. We board the train and keep

holding the luggage till we get down of the train and carry on with our journey. Now

the destination of you and your luggage was same, but still you did not bother to

drop it and traveled with that baggage in your hands. You get tired but still…. this is

how we carry our suffering too. We do not drop, we do not learn from it and we go to

the healers for solutions, when the solution to your sufferings was already with you.

What you needed was simply a good guide to take you within to heal yourself.

Another problem is that you fear disapprovals in life because you think that this is

what is going to happen always, but your success is always a step ahead. You

believe that happiness grows out of other people‟s approval, you spend most of your

time to keep others happy. That kind of happiness does not give you real happiness

but the opposite person will always control you and use you, thus you will get into

deeper sufferings. In your ignorance you help others get into greed and lust. You

play this approval act to keep yourself out of the blame. All the time your energy is

spent to create that un-blamable self. So to protect your identity you create endless

stories and explanations. You feel powerless if you do not give the explanations for

the situations. You do not see yourself as a part of the problem; but it is always

someone else.

Where the physical body is concerned, nature is the best healer. It is constantly

healing you through water, earth, sunlight (fire), air and space. But we somehow

abuse this by not being aware and by not supporting the natural system within and

outside. Law of nature is God‟s thought, which is the science of God. We do not heal

self because our arrogance inflates our ego and it overshadows our soul.

Healing self is going within and recognizing divinity within, which will not only heal

but you will be able to heal the universe also. This world will be a wonderful place if

each one of us learns to go within and it begins with you.

Is Brown Sugar better than white sugar for Diabetics?

The myth that sugar causes diabetes is commonly accepted by many people.

This is a complicated issue. Eating sugar has nothing to do with

developing type 1 diabetes. Type 1 is caused by genetics and other unknown

factors that trigger the disease.

One of the biggest risk factors for type 2 diabetes is being overweight, and a

diet high in calories from any source contributes to weight gain. However,

research has shown that drinking sugary drinks is linked to type 2 diabetes,

and it is recommended that people limit their intake of sugar-sweetened

beverages to help prevent diabetes.

In the past, people with diabetes were told to completely avoid sugar. Experts

thought that eating sugar would raise blood glucose levels very high.

Research around this issue has shown that while the type of carbohydrate can

affect how quickly blood glucose levels rise, the total amount of carbohydrate

you eat affects blood glucose levels more than the type.

Now experts agree that you can substitute small amounts of sugar for

other carbohydrate containing foods into your meal plan and still keep your

blood glucose levels on track.

People suffering from diabetes also gets tempted to eat Brown Sugar thinking

that brown sugar is healthier than white sugar. But there is virtually no

nutritional difference between brown and white sugar. In fact, brown sugar is

Page 16: Volume: 1 Issue 6 August Month E Magazine - The World …theworldunited.org/twuya/emag/august-2014.pdf · Patanjali Yoga Sutra 6 ... Dhyan and bhakti are the major means to attain

actually white granulated sugar with added molasses. Brown sugar does

contain extremely small amounts of minerals, but unless you eat a gigantic

portion of brown sugar every day, the mineral content difference between

brown sugar and white sugar is absolutely insignificant.

Remember that the idea that brown sugar is a healthier option than white

sugar is mostly due to clever marketing. Similarly, so-called “diet” sodas are

not “light” or “healthy” at all, since they are full of health-draining chemicals

like caffeine, artificial sweeteners, sodium, and phosphoric acid. Also, many

foods (fruits, honey, milk) already contain other types of sugars that are well

processed and used by your body. Be particularly careful with your sugar

intake if there is a history of diabetes in your family.

That doesn‟t mean you can eat all the sugar you may want. Most sweets

contain a large amount of carbohydrate in a very small serving. So you need

to be sure to have a small serving.

Saving sweets for a special occasion is the most healthful way to eat so you

focus your meal plan on the most nutrient dense foods such as vegetables,

beans, whole grains, fruit and non-fat dairy.

If you tend to overeat on sweets, don‟t buy them. Instead, plan to have dessert

only when you are away from home. Split the dessert with a friend to keep

yourself on track.

Atlantis and kundalini

The deeper you delve

into the truth of Atlantis, it becomes apparent that many aspects of the Atlantean

mythos must be literal, but others must be allegorical. For instance the idea of 1

island ruling over 7 sounds more metaphorical. There are several islands in the

Canaries and to say there are 7 major islands, 8, 9, 20 or just 1 is arbitrary. Perhaps

Atlantis, this one excellent place, had dominion over the seven chakras, energetic

islands in the oceans of our bodies.

“The Atlantis story was preserved at the Canary Islands perhaps in far greater detail

than even Plato‟s account before the imposition of Christianity, which affected

Guanche culture like blight. Perhaps the most revealing of all surviving material

connecting the Canary Islanders to Atlantis is found in the Tois Aethiopikes by

Marcellus. In 45 A.D., he recorded that „the inhabitants of the Atlantic island of

Poseidon preserve a tradition handed down to them by their ancestors of the

existence of an Atlantic island of immense size of not less than a thousand stadia

Page 18: Volume: 1 Issue 6 August Month E Magazine - The World …theworldunited.org/twuya/emag/august-2014.pdf · Patanjali Yoga Sutra 6 ... Dhyan and bhakti are the major means to attain

[about 115 miles], which had really existed in those seas, and which, during a long

period of time, governed all the islands of the Atlantic Ocean.‟ Pliny the Elder

seconded Marcellus, writing that the Guanches were in fact the direct descendants

of the disaster that sank Atlantis. Proclus reported that they still told the story of

Atlantis in his day, circa 410 A.D.” -Frank Joseph, “The Atlantis Encyclopedia” (130)

“Marcellus, in a work on the Ethiopians, speaks of seven

islands lying in the Atlantic Ocean - probably the Canaries - and the inhabitants of

these islands, he says, preserve the memory of a much greater island, Atlantis,

„which had for a long time exercised dominion over the smaller ones.‟" -Didot Müller,

"Fragmenta Historicorum Græcorum," vol. IV (443)

“The Maya have much in common with the Indians as well. As to the similarities

between the Mayan and Hindu religion and language, Hinduism Today says, „Chacla

in Mayan refers to force centers of the body similar to the chakras of Hinduism.

K‟ultanlilni in Mayan refers to the power of God within man which is controlled by the

breath, similar in meaning to kundalini. Mayan chilambalam refers to a sacred space,

as does Tamil Chidambaram. Yok‟hah in Maya means „on top of truth,‟ similar to

yoga in Sanskrit.‟ The Maya also had the same goddess Maya, mother of the gods

and man, as in India. Furthermore, the legendary founder of the Maya was the god

Votan or Wotan, a name identical to the god of Teutonic tribes. There are many such

correspondences between the Old and New Worlds.” -Acharya S., “The Christ

Conspiracy” (276)

So the Mayan and Indian words - chakra, kundalini, and yoga - share identical

sounds and meaning. The word “Maya” means “Illusion” in both languages as well

and refers to our material existence, which both cultures believe to be illusory. They

believe, as all ancient cultures believed, that we are immaterial souls having a

physical experience. In Sanskrit, “Atl” means “to support or uphold” as Atlas was

said to hold the world on his shoulders. Alonso de Molina‟s 16th century dictionary of

the Nahuatl language, “Vocabulario En Lengua Mexicana y Castellana” says that

"The words Atlas and Atlantic have no satisfactory etymology in any language known

to Europe. They are not Greek, and cannot be referred to any known language of the

Old World. But in the Nahuatl language we find immediately the radical 'a', 'atl',

which signifies water, war, and the top of the head.” Why the top of the head? The

word “atl” is found in the names of most of their gods, and one of its meanings is “top

of the head.”

“The tree sacred to Atlas; its branches, like his arms, supported the heavens. The

oak‟s association with Atlas implies a primeval tree cult or pillar cult, a memory of it

surviving in Kritias, Plato‟s Atlantis account, when he described a ceremonial column

at the very midpoint of the Temple of Poseidon, itself located at the center of Atlantis.

The Atlanteans‟ oldest, most hallowed laws were inscribed on its exterior and

sacrificial bull‟s blood was shed over it by all 10 kings of Atlantis in that civilization‟s

premiere ritual.” -Frank Joseph, “The Atlantis Encyclopedia” (208)

Meditation

Meditation is not….

Meditation is not Prayer/Worship

Meditation is not Concentration…not Meditation requires Concentration

Meditation is not Contemplation

Meditation is not just a Method

Meditation is not „Doing‟

Meditation a state of being which comes with emptying oneself

Meditation is choice less awareness born out of the awakening of energy of

understanding

While there is no singular method which can be called as superior or ultimate, still

many meditation methods advocate the importance of Breath

Here is a way … Just Enjoy !!!

Sit Straight ( Sitting Straight makes the alignment of energy properly)

Nose and Navel should be in straight line

Close of your eyes with your hands on the lap

Watch the rise and fall of abdomen with each breath (abdomen raises with

every inhalation and goes within with every exhalation)

Keep the mind‟s eye in the lower abdomen

let the breath be smooth, soft, pause less/jerk less like the flow of oil

Allow the letting-go phenomenon happen

Let there be no expectation or craving for an experience

Slowly the meditative process starts blossoming

With continuous passive attention on breath, with a feeling of letting-go, slowly the

mind gets emptied and gets focussed on the inner eternal silence and the

consciousness slowly gets internalized. This internalized consciousness has to be

maintained throughout the day and night

The Mastery over breath is said to happen when the breath always happen in the

abdomen even during normal daily activities of life. When the breath patterns are

changed, mind also changes.
