Your Future is Key, So Stay Drug Free Since Red Ribbon Week once again falls during our short- ened week during parent/teacher confer- ences we will cele- brate a week later, Oct. 30th through Nov. 3rd. This year’s national theme is “Your Future is Key, so Stay Drug Free.” We are going to use this week to help showcase to students some different types of professions they can do when they grow up (with the help of a drug free lifestyle). The underlying theme is that there are better things to do in this world than doing drugs. We are going to kick off our Red Ribbon Week activities once again with our 4th annual staff vs. students kick ball game. Coach Long will be our guest speaker and he will bring along some OHS football players to try and help our students win this year’s kickball game and some OHS cheerleaders to cheer them on. Other guest speakers for the week will be Elizabeth Hoffman, news reporter from KRCG-TV 13, Mindi Katsov from Mid-America Acro and Tumbling team, Hunt Tainter, veteri- narian, and first responders from the local community. Our counselor, Ms. Jennings has several educational and fun activities planned for the students and with the help of OHS Ag students and teach- ers, we will start on the assembly of our “Only One You” landscape pro- ject.” The “Only One You” project is mod- eled after the book with the same name by Linda Kranz and is taken from Sharon Elementary in New- burgh, Indiana. Students will deco- rate rocks in art class that will be- come a part of the front landscaping at OES. This week is centered on stressing to our students that there is only one of them, so they should stay away from drugs so they can become whatever they choose to be and leave their own mark on our world — drug free. And as always, we’ll have our Red Ribbon Spirit Week!! Oct. 5th - (90s) - “Smells Like Eagles Spirit” -- ‘Hex Day’ -- go for the grunge look in baggy tshirts & flannel or wear your black & yellow to put a hex on the Sullivan Eagles Fri. Oct. 6th - Timeless Traditions” -- No matter what the year, orange & black is always in style! Wear yours and show your Dutchmen Pride!! bidders. There will be two sets available and the

winner will let us know how many they need (up

to 8). There will be a designated date-ONE DAY

Tyler SIS Student 360 app

The 4th annual Daddy/Daughter dance is on Satur-

day, Nov. 4th from 6pm to 8pm at OES. Ticket

sales will be from October 16th through October

30th and will be $5 for child and $5 for adult. Tick-

ets purchased after October 30th or the night of the

dance at the door will be $7 per child and $7 per

adult.

Please be sure to at least RSVP either way so we can

plan refreshments accordingly. Snacks and refresh-

ments will be provided and we will have a photo-

booth for $1.00 per picture. Dress can be nice or

casual, it’s up to you (well actually, your daughter;-)

Grandpas, Uncles, special

family friends can attend in

place of dad’s.

Proceeds from this event help

our PBS (Positive Behavior

Support) team with events and

activities for the students

throughout the school year.

will be going home with students soon. Each

student will bring home a personalized form

containing their own artwork. Orders and pay-

ment will be due on Oct. 9th and orders should

deliver around the first of November — perfect

timing to stock up on some great

holiday gifts featuring students’ very

own artwork. All proceeds benefit

the OES Art class!

Eclipse Day Make-up School will be in session on Dec. 21st.

We will dismiss at 1pm. **(PreK will not have classes on this day)**

Class Holiday Parties will be on Wed., Dec. 20th at 2pm

“Town Hall Meetings” with OES principal, Mr. Sher-

row are back. If you have any questions regarding

OES, Mr. Sherrow will be available on Monday, Oct.

9th at 5pm in the cafeteria for a question and answer

session. The P.A.T.T. meeting

will follow at 6pm.
