MANAGER’S REPORT Nancy Zingheim

We have 3 new leaseholders, Edwin & Jolene Northup Lot 638, Ed & Theresa Thompson Lot 219 and Mary & Robert Trott Lot 622. Cecil & Wanda Oppie have traded lots and now reside on Lot #609, and Butch and Barbara Sword have moved to Lot #113.

Currently 20 leaseholders have terminated their membership with the park and have given up their lots. We

currently have a wait list of 65 people and have turned three lots in the last 2 weeks, so it is slow going.

When Phyllis emailed me that it was time for my report for Coho Tales I decided to think about it over the

weekend before I forwarded this for printing so here is the report from Switzerland (aka the office which is neutral territory).

By the time Coho Tales is published I will have been in my position as Business Park Man-

ager for almost a year. It has been a very tumultuous year for myself and the park. I would first like to personally thank the current board of directors for their support I have been given this past year. Given the task they had ahead of them, they have done their job well. I do not expect everyone to agree with me on that statement. Looking back on the Corporate Books that I inherited in August of last year, I realized that without intervention this park did not have a sustainable future. It now does despite the up hill battle that was fought and won.

Your park will survive and thrive now as the new board takes over. I realize as we get older (as I will be 60 in

a few months), people do not like change. But my friends, (and yes I do consider the residents of this park as friends) we all have to accept the changes, forget what happened in the past, and move on to hopefully will be another year of learning, growing and changing. If we all work together instead of against each other I be-lieve this can be accomplished. I am looking forward to working with the New Board of Directors as they carry forth with their ideas and changes. I am currently working with our CPA Katie to ensure that the Corporation stays on an even keel, and business is conducted correctly and legally to ensure sustainability.

I have enjoyed working at Evergreen Coho and will continue to do so for as long as you will have me.

The Following Leaseholders have turned in their lots.

A note from the President

This will be my last message as President of the Board. We have three

good people running for the Board this year and I am sure we will be

able to elect a well-qualified new President for the 2014-2015 year.

The past year has been a real challenge and I am grateful to the other

Board members who have given me a lot of support (and sometimes

propped me up). I hope I can offer the same support to the new board officers as was given to me. I

look forward to a productive new year and am optimistic that as a team we can strengthen and im-

prove our park better than ever.

I would like to thank all of our Leaseholders, old and new, for the service they have given in volunteer-

ing for all the jobs required to keep our park running.

Keep looking forward. Thank you.

Jim Spaulding, President

The Evergreen Coho SKP Coho Week Committee is very busy with final preparations

for our celebration week.

We hope everyone will join us starting Friday, August 1st at 12:30 to sign-up for our

various volunteer committees. At 1:30pm our Second Annual Candidate’s Forum

begins where you can ask our board of director candidates questions of interest to

you. The week continues with the Board of Director’s Breakfast, the Ladies Tea and a surprise, the Bake

and Brown Bag Sales, Arts and Crafts Show, Margarita Party with Herm’s homemade salsa, the Internation-

al Cook-Off, an evening of Country Western Music with the Travelers, our membership dinner and of

course, our ‘Welcome’ to the new board members and leaseholders.

SEE the “Have Fun for a Good Cause” Schedule later in the newsletter for exact times and dates so you

won’t miss anything.

ROAD COMMITTEE

RAVE

This past week the "Road Crew" was filling cracks on the 600 row on a hot morning, when all of a sudden a new leaseholder, Robert Trott, appeared with bottles of cold water for each of us. Just what we needed, for sure! Later that same day, Mary Trott

stepped forward to take on the task of red-lining and proof-reading the proposed Amended Articles of Incorpo-ration so that they would be much easier for all to read and evaluate. Fine examples of the SKP philosophy of caring and shar-ing. Thanks to you both! --Dwight Williamson

Another year another dollar! We just completed our sale yesterday and our proceeds so far this year are $700.97. We have a few items we will attempt to sell on line and there are a number of sellers that haven’t had a chance to bring in their 10% to add to our totals. The 18th was a private “in the park sale” and the 19th we invited the public in to shop.

There were more than 23 people selling items on their lots and a number in the clubhouse. A number of peo-ple “complained” they spent more than they made so there were a lot of good deals to be gotten.

A big THANK YOU to the people who made generous donations and to those who contributed by their 10% donations.

All of the money collected will go toward the clubhouse kitchen.

Wanda Oppie and my “save the day” hard working hus-band Cecil

SAFETY COMMITTEE RAVE

Recently, we experienced a serious electrical fault (short) and mentioned it to a fellow SKP here in the park. He has electrical expertise and immediately responded with his tool box and testing equipment. He determined the likely cause rather quickly, but he had to test all the junction boxes in the rig which took almost four hours, crawling around in the “basement” of our motorhome and tight-ening all the connections as he went. His persistence paid off as he found the problem was in a hidden, after-market addition to our circuitry. When he opened the plate that was hiding the problem, there was sparking and blackened insulting wire covers. We were just likely moments away from a disaster that could have not only destroyed our RV, but may have killed us as well. We are thankful that Chuck Palumbo had saved our bacon and have the utmost respect for and thankfulness to have such a caring and capable friend and neighbor!! -- Dwight and Donna Williamson

CLUBHOUSE & SOCIAL COMMITTEE

KITCHEN REMODEL PROJECT

After our Q&A session with Eric Schwartz of Olympic Restaurant Equipment, and Mina Kwansa of Jefferson County Public Health, I had some additional questions that needed clarification. You will see Mina Kwansa’s response to my questions, below.

It seems, by her email, that the full, commercial kitchen is in question. Is it neces-sary? As you can see, as long as we are serving only SKP members, the permit is not necessary, and we can go back to the days when we all can do everything and any-thing in our clubhouse kitchen, but now, definitely more aware of safe and healthy food handling proce-dures.

So, in closing, these facts and data speak for themselves. Now it is up to the membership to vote at the Annual Membership Meeting.

Dick Koeb

Kitchen Remodel Project Leader

=========================================================================

MEMBERS REFERS TO ALL CURRENT SKP MEMBERS NOT JUST LEASEHOLDERS

1.If the members do not approve the kitchen remodel project at our Annual Membership Meeting what options will we have to be able to use our

kitchen after our temporary permit expires in September? Answer:

The kitchen can be used after the temporary food service permit expires. Food service in the kitchen will be limited to events for members only.

This means events such as Fund Raisers, Ice cream socials, Thursday meals for volunteers, Thanksgiv-ing, and Christmas meals must be limited to members only.

Family and friends (general public) cannot be invited to any events where food is served. A food ser-vice permit is required to prepare and serve food to the public (non-members).

My understanding is the organization is required to invite the general public to Bingo. This means food service permit is required if you decide to resume the weekly Bingo.

2.) Will our members be able to use all of the kitchen to prepare private dinners for family and friends?

Answer:

The kitchen can be used to prepare food but as stated repeatedly during the meeting, when non-members (general public – friends and family etc) are invited for food service at the facility, food ser-vice permit is required.

3.) Will our members be able to use the kitchen for heating pot luck dishes in the oven, keeping food cold in the refrigerator, washing dishes after a potluck event?

Answer:

Yes, the kitchen can be used and must be used for pot luck whenever possible – either for cooking or washing of dishes etc.

The kitchen can be used to prepare food but as stated repeatedly during the meeting, when non-members (members of the general public) are

invited for food service at the facility, food service permit is required.

4.) Would an individual member be able to go into the kitchen a make a big batch of Christmas cookies?

Answer:

Yes, an individual member can use the kitchen to make a batch of Christmas cookies.

Please note: the requirement for permit comes in if non-members (public) are invited to participate in the food service.

5.) Would we be able to make and serve a Thanksgiving dinner if the only attendees are SKP members?

Answer:

Food service restricted to members only at Thanksgiving, Christmas etc can be prepared in the kitchen and served at the facility.

If members decide to invite friends and family – non-members (general public) then permit is required.

Please note: If the organization decides to resume events Bingo or invite non-members (family and friends etc) to Thanksgiving Dinner, Christmas Dinner, Ice Cream Socials etc, you must apply for an annual food service permit.

I hope this answers all your questions.

Thanks,

Robert and Mary Trott, lot #622, both originally from Maine, have two children and seven grandchildren. Robert served in the Air Force as a heavy equipment operator, later working for the city of Rowlett, Texas. Along the way he also became a licensed auc-tioneer. Mary worked as assistant to the CEO of Labcorp, a leading provider of medical tests. They have RVed together since before they were married, going from tents to their current Mobile Estates 5th wheel. They began full-time RVing after retirement, a year and a half ago, heading for southern Texas; to an RV rally in Shipshewana, Indiana; to Maine for a home state visit; and then to Washington. They plan an Arizona trip starting this October. They have work-camped several places, including as our park’s weed control volun-

teers, and they have both remained active on our Landscape Committee. Robert is an avid lake fishermen and Mary loves reading “just about anything.” As good will ambassadors, they have already encouraged five RVing friends to sign up for our waiting list!

Ed and Teresa Thompson, lot #219, have covered nearly three million miles on the road. Teresa grew up on Air Force bases in several states and in Japan. She worked in banking, enjoying RVs for family sporting events and skiing. Ed grew up in Lovell, Wyo-ming, 80 miles west of Yellowstone Park. After serving in the Na-tional Guard he moved to Montana and received his commercial driver’s license. A few years later they met when he taught clas-ses for CDL drivers in Tacoma, WA where Teresa was a student. They married and decided to drive as a team. After a year, Teresa said to Ed, “I’m still having fun” so they continued living and working as team drivers for 14 years, covering every contiguous state and 4 Canadian provinces. They provided transportation for both specific projects and specialized in transporting loads on tight schedules. After their millions of career miles, whisking past many sights, they look forward to leisurely RVing. Teresa enjoys researching genealogy, and Ed has already joined our Lot Management Committee.

Welcome New Leaseholders (continued)

Ron and Judy Planck, lot #545, have been coming to Evergreen Coho SKP Park for five summers. When they first met, Ron intro-duced Judy to skiing and golfing but it was Judy, in about 1995, who first suggested “trying out” RVing. They both loved it! They began full-timing 10 years ago and the first few years they made sweeping trips across the country, visiting relatives all along the east coast. For several years they have spent winters in Cocopah RV and Golf Resort near Mesa, Arizona, where Ron designed ex-tensive landscaping along the entry and fairways. In his career days, Ron served in the Air Force and later as a contract Adminis-trator for Advanced Development Projects. Ron volunteered to fill in the rest of this fiscal year as our Lawn Committee Chair. His other hobby besides landscaping is genealogy. Judy enjoys all

kinds of games, crocheting, pickle ball and reading. They both like golf and would love to meet other cou-ples who like golf as well.

Eugene (Gene) and Diane Verraes, lot #224, are both Washing-ton natives who have recently had their custom park model placed on their lot. Their six children and five grandchildren also live in Washington. They have lived in this area since 1980, most recently on 10 acres near Port Townsend and visited Evergreen Coho SKP Park often to visit friends who live here, falling in love with our park. Gene retired from Puget Power as a power line-man and an equipment operator. Diane was from Cle Elum and retired from Boeing. They have enjoyed some travels in a truck and camper and a motorhome and now spend their winters in a park in Yuma. Gene’s hobbies have been boating and fishing; he now prefers fishing from a lounge chair on the bank! Diane loves growing flowers. They both like cooking and they trade off baking and barbecues.

Marjorie (Margie) Norris grew up in Orlando, Florida and lives in a park in Sun City in her Toyota Dolphin for the winters. She sees her daughter and grandson in Ohio as she travels across the country. She just moved out of her 36’ Bounder (it’s up for sale!) when she bought Pat and Nancy Patnode’s park model on lot #544. She hopes to find a Dolphin to travel around our area too. Margie retired 20 years ago after 30 years as a first grade teacher. Friends told her she’d be bored retiring so young, but she says she hasn’t been bored for even one day. No wonder; she loves tennis, pickle ball, and kayaking in rivers and springs. Her next adventure? Along with four in her camping club, they plan a back-to-back cruise, with the first cruise through the Pana-ma Canal, then a train trip on Amtrak up north, and a cruise to Alaska!

GOODBYE TO RACHEL

cial Chairperson is leaving the park. On Saturday,

July 17, 2014 many current and former leasehold-

ers gathered in the Clubhouse to say goodbye to

Rachel as she moves out of the park. She will still

4th of July Celebration

It was the hope of the 4th of July Picnic Committee to celebrate our nation’s birthday with nice weather, good food and our friends. I don’t believe anyone was disappointed.

George Hilke scurried around and cleaned the gazebo area from stem to stern, including the bar-b-ques. Jim Spaulding actually ground and painted our horseshoes. Bill and Joan Croft stood on their feet all day to embellish us with root beer floats. Diane Roulier dressed up in a red bra, shorts and striped blue and white stockings – ooh, la, la!

As you can see our parade leader is conferring with our sound maker and a parade supporter, Aaron Spaulding, to provide a very successful parade. Picture by Diane Roulier The cakewalk was something to behold! Once everyone discovered any cakes won would be shared at dinner, there was a waiting line to join the fun. AND, finally the food. Absolute no one had any excuse to leave din-ner hungry. The meats appeared to be standard hamburgers but

Picture by Karen Spaulding there was nothing routine about the salads. I truly believe every salad known to man was represented at the table. Our day ended with Ed Bonham performing a sign-along for those that didn’t go home and take a nap! Thank you Ed.

Aaron Spaulding won first place in the Poker Walk, George Hilke won the 50/50 raffle and donated his win-nings back to the kitchen and the Crofts donated the funds from the root beer floats, after expenses, to the kitchen. In all $250.00 was donated to the kitchen fund. Happy Birthday U.S.A.!
