From the President…

Thinking about the upcoming National Elections sent me down memory lane.

I remember the excitement felt by everyone at the Election Watching Party held at the Tin Melon, March 2006. As all present had a wonderful time and the smile of victory was on everyone’s face; I thought, “What a wonderful night!” I was honored to be present at such a fun evening. What a great group of Parker County Republicans!

On the other spectrum is that memory of November 8, 2006 Elections, as we all watched the Democrats declare victory over the Republican Party nationally. Every news channel reported the devastating news of Congressional Seats being overturned….and then the final blow, Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House!

I asked myself this question, “What can BLRWW do to make a difference?”

I came back over and over to the same answer, “ONLY YOU”. Only “you” can make the difference. Only “you” can choose. Only “you” can insure victory in the 2008 elections, by recommitting to the following:

1. Supporting and promoting the principles of the Republican Party nationally and locally.

2. Being active in your BLRWW club, building up membership and increasing awareness of the issues.

3. Supporting your Republican Candidates monetarily and with volunteer hours.

The Victory Party 2008 is up to “YOU”….The choice is yours, the time is NOW!

Mirko Ruggeri To Speak About Terrorism Threats In The USA

This month’s guest speaker is Mirko Ruggeri a former Italian police officer. He will be speaking to us about the real terrorism threats to the United States and some of his life experiences that makes this a very real subject. Mirko worked for the Italian police force from 1988 to 2000 working with the riot squad, street crimes unit, dignitary protection, undercover detective and as patrol chief. He had over 800 convicted arrests while keeping his record clean. In 2000, Mirko was a part of the team that led to the freeing of the victims that were kidnapped for ransom in Columbia. From there, Mirko went to work for Pfizer Pharmaceutical in Rome in 2002 through 2005 where he was their Security Advisor. Ruggeri moved to the United States in 2006 and landed in Austin, Texas. He was the Security Manager for Horseshoe Bay Resort and a private investigator for the Blackstone Group. Mirko moved to Weatherford in 2007 and started a company with Tommy Taylor. Texas Tactical is a one stop shop for all law enforcement personnel to

complete, train and improve all of their self defense skills. Mirko has recently developed programs for women as well. Mirko graduated from Ivanoe Bonomi in Mantova, Italy in 1987 with a degree in accounting and foreign language. Ruggeri is fluent in English, Italian, and Spanish. He holds numerous licenses and carries the title of an executive protection specialist. He has worked for George Clooney, Dennis Hooper and Nastassja Kinski. Don’t miss this very informative program given by a very interesting man. The meeting will be Thursday, August 16 th at 11:30a.m. at the Goodnight Loving Restaurant. Make your reservations now by calling Donna Couch at 8175969146.

I hope you all enjoyed our buffet luncheon last month. This month our lunch buffet will be chicken lasagna with salad. Since our luncheon hosts are not open for business during our meeting, they make only enough food for our group, and that is based on the number of reservations I receive. PLEASE be sure to make your reservation by Tuesday, August 14 so that the restaurant has enough time to prepare for us. You may leave me a message at 8175969146 or email me at [email protected]. Remember lunch is $10 per person. If you make a reservation and cannot attend, please plan to pay for your missed lunch at our next meeting.

A reservation made is a reservation paid!

Campaign News Let's take a look at the candidate This month a quick review of Representative Tom Tancredo, RColorado.

Before he became a candidate for president, Tom Tancredo was telling Americans that the U.S. should threaten to bomb Mecca if Islamic terrorists successfully detonate a nuclear device in America.

In July of 2005, he said on Fox News, "If this (terror attack) happens, and if, in fact, we can prove that it was perpetrated by some fundamentalist Islamic 'Islamofacist' is really what we should call them then you might think about this as a threat, the retaliation on their holy sites."

"We are talking about a situation where our very lives are at stake, not just the live of the United States, but of Western civilization," he insisted.

A week later, Tancredo told WFLA Florida radio host Pat Campbell, “You know, there are things that you could threaten to do before (a terror attack) happens.."

The Colorado Republican then explained, "What if you said something like: If this happens in the United States and we determine that it is the result of extremist, fundamental Muslims you know, you could take out their holy sites."

Asked if he was talking about bombing Mecca, Tancredo replied, "Yeah." And the congressman and presidential candidate is not backing down from these comments.....

Next month we will take a look at another .

On another note: Please remember to turn in your volunteer hours to me at our meeting on Thursday. We want every one to be included. Thanks for your faithfulness.

Phil King’s Clay Day We Need YOUR Help

Ms. Markum:

I'm writing to see if your organization would be able to send 10 or so volunteers for Rep. King's Clay Day event again this year. The women who helped out last year did a fantastic job and ensured that registration went smoothly!!!! Lunch and beverages will be provided.

We have moved the event to late September this year to try to combat some of the heat it will be Wed, Sept. 26. The event will once again be at the Texas Star Ranch same place as last year. We would probably need volunteers to arrive around 9:30 am to aid with registration, or if some need to come in later or leave early this is fine.

Thanks so much,

Where did the summer go? It’s true that time flies when you are having a good time. Our meetings and programs have been fun, informative, and entertaining. Now I need for us to get busy for our gala in September. Ladies, we need to get busy with our silent auction donations. Please contact myself or Sue Melton if you need help in getting your items picked up. You may also bring your items to the next luncheon.
