We love to celebrate! And on Tuesday, October 18th, we’ll host our biggest celebration of the year -- The Watertown Area Chamber of Commerce's Annual Celebration and Dessert Auction!

During this gathering, we not only celebrate our members, but we also recognize our hard-working board of directors and bestow honors on individuals and businesses who have made a difference in the Watertown area during the past year. We're thankful for a fantastic year led by our Board Chairman Tim Sheehan and look forward to his presentations. If you’ve attended this event previously, you are likely looking forward to seeing the creative (and downright delicious) dessert displays. You'll want to arrive early so you can take the time to appreciate the details in the presentations that each business or organization has put together. In many cases, the planning began just moments after last year's desserts were auctioned off!

Another highlight of the evening will be awarding certificates to the 2016 Leadership Watertown graduates. As our honored guests, this evening brings recognition for a year of learning more about area businesses and the community.

While the 101st Anniversary Celebration and Desert Auction serves as a showcase for the many areas already mentioned, we also look forward to the coming year -- and toward all the things we can do to better serve our members.

Our Chamber membership is comprised of a diverse group of businesses and organizations. Some have been members for decades, while others have just recently joined. We encourage you to take the time to get to know each other better. There's no doubt we can learn a great deal from one another as we work toward a common goal of making Watertown an even better place to live, work and play.

If you’d like to become more directly involved in the Chamber, you can be certain we have many opportunities for you. With a variety of events happening throughout the year (Watertown Winter Farm Show, St. Patrick’s Celebration and Cookin’ on Kampeska, to name a few), we would love to put your talents to good use.

We're humbled to be part of an organization that has served the Watertown community and surrounding area for more than 100 years. As we now enter our 102nd year, the Chamber would love to hear your ideas. Let’s work together to make this coming year our best one yet!

Reds, Whites, Brews & BluesDowntown businesses played host to some fun-loving folks and groups of friends during Reds, Whites, Brews & Blues on September 15! Participants walked from business to business to experience a variety of the latest in the world of wine and craft beers.

Live music by Neon Gypsy Acoustic was moved inside the Watertown Brewing Company as the threat of rain moved in earlier in the day. Fortunately, the precipitation stayed away…and participants ended up with a terrific evening.

Thanks to our Downtown business hosts, our amazing volunteers and to everyone who participated in Reds, Whites, Brews & Blues! Upper left: Flatland X-treme hosted Dempseys Brewery, Restaurant & Pub during the event.

WatertownHall of Fame

Banquet isNovember 10

The 2016 Watertown Hall of Fame banquet will be held

Thursday, November 10, beginning at 11:30 a.m. at the Watertown Event

Center.

Support your community and recognize the class of 2016 inductees: Ernie Edwards, Joy Nelson and Lew

Raderschadt. Tickets are $30 per person and can be purchased at the Watertown Area Chamber of Commerce or by calling (605) 886-5814.

Ernie Edwards spent many decades as a teacher, coach, principal and superintendent in Watertown. Few local residents have shaped as many lives in as many areas of the community. Edwards is a retired Brigadier General for the S.D. Army National Guard. Proving time and again his commitment and dedication to improving the community’s future, his time in the Guard ran concurrently with his 39 years as an educator in the state of South Dakota.

The ranch near Lake Kampeska that bears her name is perhaps the most visible of Joy Nelson’s contributions to Watertown, but the beautiful facility is one small example of her commitment to the community. A Realtor by trade, Nelson is deeply involved in the community and has served on a number of boards. She was also named as one of the 2016 inductees into the S.D. Hall of Fame.

Lew Raderschadt’s philosophy was “the difference between work and play is a mental attitude.” He lived that philosophy. His hands-on approach to business and life was appreciated by everyone who knew him. Radershadt was big behind the scenes contributor to many causes and organizations. Raderschadt died July 28, 2016.

All proceeds from the 2016 Watertown Hall of Fame banquet will be used to defray the cost of the luncheon and plaques presented to the inductees; any remaining funds will be used for scholarships in honor of the inductees.
