Dear Church Family, We have all missed worship-ing together and seeing each other over these last two and a half months. It is safe to say that none of us have ever experi-enced anything like this coronavirus lockdown in our lifetimes and I hope we are seeing the proverbial “light at the end of the tunnel.” So many of you have expressed appreciation for the online worship and I join you in saying, “Thank You” to those who worked hard in getting it up and running. Over the last few weeks the Staff Parish Relations Committee has met virtually and then continued to have various forms of com-munication to plan for a safe return to “in-person” worship. We know that things will look and feel a little different for a while and so we are sharing some information to help you better antici-pate expectations of worship as we resume. Beginning June 7th, we will resume in-person worship for both 8:45 & 11:00 services. However, we will not be having Sunday School or the Link. Reviewing the guidelines from the CDC and the State of North Carolina we can safely reopen wor-ship in the sanctuary at the approved ratios. However, as you know, our Sunday School classroom space does not allow for so-cial distancing requirements. Further, according to the same guidelines we cannot have events where food and drink are of-fered. In the future, as restrictions are lifted we will be able to re-sume various activities, but for now, we will phase ministries back in when we can. What you can expect when attending worship:
• The online YouTube service option will continue. The 8:45
Reopening of “In-Person Worship”
Page 2
service will be livestreamed weekly and once it is completed it can be viewed at any time. For the 11:00 service to be livestreamed we will need volunteers to step up, be trained and be available weekly.
• Beginning June 7th, both 8:45 & 11:00 services will resume for in-person worship with adjusted seating.
• There will NOT be Wee Worship or Nursery during this early phase.
• There will be one entrance into the sanctuary, via the front of the church/narthex where screenings will take place outside (in the porch/portico area), before entering the building. Should anyone register a temperature of 100.4 or higher they will be asked to refrain from attending and encouraged to watch from home and to take care of themselves.
• People will exit via side doors near the chancel area, which will allow for one-way flow of traffic.
• There will NOT be printed bulletins, as we cannot pass out items, however the 11:00 order of service can be accessed via the church website at www.coldspringsumc.org and you can view it on your device during the service or print it out at home and bring it with you.
• If you feel most comfortable wearing a mask please bring one with you. Should you forget we will have extra masks in the nar-thex upon entering the building. We know some will feel most comfortable wearing a mask while others will not.
• Hand sanitizer will also be in the narthex for people to use, but you may feel more comfortable bringing your own small travel bottle of sanitizer.
• There will NOT be passing of the offering plates. Instead, an of-fering plate will be sitting on a stand just inside the sanctuary en-try doors and people can drop an offering in that plate as they en-ter. If they prefer to drop an offering into the plate as they exit, plates will be on a stand near each exit door.
• Every other pew will be roped/marked off so people can be ap-propriately spaced. (We apologize in advance if “your pew” hap-pens to be one that is closed off.)
• People will need to be spaced out according to the CDC guide-
Page 3
lines of six feet, however immediate family members may sit closer together like normal.
• In an attempt to keep the building as free of germs as possible the mailboxes will be covered and not in use…again, we cannot pass out paper items which would include mail or pieces of paper.
• We also ask that people not roam into all areas of the building, but rather enter in the front/narthex, stay in the sanctuary for wor-ship, and then exit via the side doors near the chancel area. Re-stroom use is to be used on a minimum basis.
• Should anyone have a fever or not feel well please refrain from attending.
• Should you have a compromised immune system or have other health conditions that make you more prone to illness please re-frain from attending.
• Should you feel uncomfortable being around people because of the potential of getting ill please refrain from attending.
We know people vary in age, health and circumstance so some peo-ple will be ready to return to in-person worship while others are not quite ready. We understand! Also, each of you know your situation better than anyone else so we trust you do what makes the most sense for your own health and safety. We simply ask that those who decide to attend in-person worship please abide by the guidelines listed above and also be aware of others around them for their health and safety as well as your own. Should you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the church office at (704) 782-1811 or email Pastor Tony at [email protected]. Best Regards, Tony Bell, Pastor Relle Moore, Administrative Council Chair Lynne Georgevich, Staff Parish Relations Chair Larry Craven, Trustees Chair

M.Y. Heart's ministry is col-lecting supplies to make blessing bags for the home-less. These items include such things as pocket Bibles,
travel shampoos, conditioners, soap, and other necessities. A green bin is located under the mailboxes in the hallway behind the sanctuary and in the narthex. A list of other items are lo-cated on the flyer at these collection bins. If you have ques-tions about this new outreach, email Julie Love at [email protected]. Our current needs with spring on it’s way will be: white undershirts, deodorant, sunscreen, chap stick, ball caps, etc.
