Operation CHRISTMAS ANGEL Hundreds of military families around the state face difficult times during the holiday season. When Wisconsin’s Patriot Guard Riders embarked on a new holiday mission last year, they didn’t quite know what to expect. We just thought if we could help 4 or 5 local families that would be wonderful. We ended up being able to reach almost 500 military families and veterans! With the help of veterans services groups, the

Patriot Guard has once again identified veterans or families of veterans in need for Christmas. Through the gifts we purchased, we were able to bring some hope, goodwill and Christmas cheer to these families! The gifts were purchased by businesses and individuals who stepped forward as Angels and helped fulfill the wish lists. The Villas at Apple Creek Men’s Club contributed to this endeavor. The Certificate of Appreciation plaque we received was for the large donation that they received from us. I hope we can continue this next year maybe beating this year’s amount. It is great cause with 100% of the collections going to the families. The plaque is displayed in our clubhouse.
Thank you,
Bill Eggleston & Mike Sele

VAC shares with CCC Once more the Villas at Apple Creek neighbors came through for the Community Clothes Closet. The sock collection at Christmas was a huge success. In 2014, we collected 170 Pairs-‐-‐-‐our total for 2015 was 230 pairs. What a fabulous increase. It represents the special caring of our neighbors. Many thanks from the "Closet" and from their clients. Sharing is definitely a "good thing", and, yes, we plan to donate socks again next year. We can watch for the sales all year long. Also, as we clean our closets-‐-‐-‐no matter the time of year-‐-‐-‐the "Closet" always welcomes clothes for folks of all ages, shoes, books, household items, and, of course, financial support. Once again, sincerest thanks and many blessings in 2016. Carol Christenson 364-‐9399
Houdini Discussion at Men’s Group
Tom Boldt grew up in Appleton and is the CEO of Boldt Construction Company. Boldt is the largest construction company in Wisconsin, and 17th largest in the Country. The Boldt family has facilitated many community improvements, including the Houdini Plaza, located in downtown Appleton. Tom has developed an interest in Harry Houdini and, last month came to the Apple Creek Men's Group to share some of his interest in Houdini. Tom brought some of his collection to the Men’s Group to examine, including shackles, posters and photos. It was an interesting insight into one of Appleton’s “home grown” celebrities.
Thanks to Jim Hakes for arranging this interesting talk on Houdini!
It’s February, so how are your 2016 resolutions going?
I didn’t make it to the gym today. That makes five years in a row.
Besides, if God had wanted me to touch my toes, He would’ve put them on my knees.
In fact, I decided to change calling the bathroom “The John” and renamed it “The Jim”. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.
This year, I joined a support group for procrastinators. We haven’t met yet!
I decided to not make plans for the day because the word “premeditated” gets thrown around in the courtroom.

The Republican Party was born in Ripon, Wisconsin. A lot of people do not know that the Republican Party was founded in Ripon, Wisconsin. It was founded at a meeting at the Little White Schoolhouse, which you can visit and is included on the Registered Historic Places list. The reason this party came into existence was for the express purpose to combat slavery.

Shirley and Mike Huss hosted a Packer's party for Deb and Tom Locy and Dennis and Diane Idhe in Green Valley, Arizona.
Dianne and I got dressed up for a Wisconsin Club dinner held here in Green Valley, Arizona. We will be back in Appleton Feb 18th. This is one of our sunsets in Green Valley. Today's temperature will reach 75, so sorry… since we know your temps. Stay warm!
Our favorite “beach”! Purgatory Mountain, Durango Colorado. This is our local ski resort. We ski here 2 -‐ 3 times per week. The area in front of the lodge is affectionately known as the beach. On a sunny day it is a great place to relax with your favorite beverage.
