StudentsWestwood’s Student Ministry plays a critical role in nurturing students in grades 6-12 to experience a dynamic love relationship with Jesus Christ. We accept students where they are—we’re motivated to reach out to students with the same eagerness God has in reaching out to us—no strings attached! Our professional and volunteer staff model the journey of faith and life in Christ and encourage the students to journey further in their own relationships with God, understanding that each student is in a unique place. Purpose StatementThe purpose of Westwood Community Church is to honor God by enjoying Him through reaching people with the love of Jesus Christ.

Vision StatementWe demonstrate God’s love in creative and compelling ways that lead people to know God, worship Him authentically, grow spiritually, serve joyfully and connect relationally. We are a community with open hands, receiving from God all He wants to give, believing He wants to give us a lot. And with open hands we give it away, believing we cannot out-give God.

ValuesOur purpose and vision exist because:

We love God with all that we are, have and do.

We love all people because all people matter to God.

Worship ServicesWestwood services are dynamic and inspiring. As we express our worship to God, the music is celebratory though the style is varied. At our morning services (8:30, 9:45 and 11:05) you’ll experience a blend of updated traditional hymns, along with the songs of today.

At our 5:00 Saturday and Sunday evening ELEMENTS services, the environment is relaxed and the music is a blend of soulful songs that are both relevant and reverent. All our services feature thought-provoking messages that present biblical truth that you can apply to your life.

In a survey of Westwood attenders, the number one felt need was to learn how to pray. Prayer is one of the most valuable assets we have as God’s people. D.L. Moody said, “Every great movement of God can be traced to a kneeling figure.” But kneeling in prayer sometimes is hard, boring or seemingly non-effective. Sometimes we wonder where is the movement of God when we pray?

God wants us to seek Him in prayer and to experience His movement in our lives. Ultimately prayer works because we are connecting to the God who holds the power and the answers.

This fall, through a 10-week message series, prayer events and experiences, we will take away some of the mystery that keeps us from praying and put some of the joy back into it! As you participate, you will grow in your understanding and practice of prayer.

So learn, so experience, so pray!
