YIOP ANNOUNCEMENTS Women's speaker Series on Sun., June 24, at 10:00AM, will feature Jamie
Clearfield Kresch speaking about "Adventures in Dunking: A Mikvah Travelogue”. Susie Kresch is sponsoring this event in loving memory of Molly & Ben Kresch, parents of Ed & grandparents of Jamie & Tzvi, and in loving memory of Susie’s father, Pinky Salomon.
Ritual Committee meeting will take place on Sun., June 24, at 8PM, at YIOP. Everyone is invited to attend.
On Sun., July 1 (the Fast of the 17th of Tammuz), we will be showing two
videos. The first film will be shown at 6PM, entitled ”The Forgotten Refugees.” The Forgotten Refugees is a documentary about the mass exodus of Jews from Arab countries and Iran in the 20th century. The Forgotten Refugees explores the history and destruction of Middle Eastern and North African Jewish communities, some of which had existed for over 2,500 years.
The second film will be shown at 7PM, entitled “One Day In September.”
In 1972, athletes from around the globe gathered in Munich, Germany for the Olympic Games. However, the Olympic spirit of brotherhood and peaceful competition was shattered when eight Palestinian terrorists invaded the athletes' quarters to take the Israeli team hostage, resulting in the violent deaths of eleven athletes. In One Day in September, director Kevin Macdonald mixes newsreel coverage of the tragedy with interviews of witnesses and participants (including Jamil Al Gashey, the only surviving member of the extremist terrorist group, Black September, who were responsible for the killings), as they discuss what happened, and how a dangerous situation turned tragic and deadly.
If you would like to participate in the Tisha B’Av readings (Eicha or Kinot,) please contact Mark Berkman at (248) 721-6698, or email him at [email protected]
In connection with the upcoming mechitza reconfiguration, we want to make sure that anyone who paid $1,000.00 for a dedicated High Holiday seat and what seat is affected, has priority to select a new seat. So, if you paid for a dedicated High Holiday seat, please contact the office by phone 248 967-3655 or e-mail [email protected], so that we can ensure that you're on our list.
