Volunteer News November 2016
CONNECTIONS Upcoming classes:
Special Needs of Veterans at End of Life November 16 (CE) 12:00 – 2:00 pm One out of every four dying Americans is a veteran. Veterans often carry experiences from their service that present unique challenges, and unfortunately, many of them may not know about or have access to hospice and palliative care. In an effort to address these concerns and respond to the needs of veterans, the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization partnered with the Department of Veterans Affairs in 2010 to create a program called We Honor Veterans (WHV). Learn more about WHV and how we serve this special population.

Care Notes and Mailings for Transitions GriefCare
Each month we send out Care Notes to our bereaved families
and we need volunteers to help prepare these mailings. It
involves sorting papers, stuffing envelopes, etc. Interested
volunteers should contact Annie McCall at
[email protected] or 919-719-7199.
Schedule: 2-3 hours, once a month (usually the 2nd Monday of
the month around 9 am) and as needed for special mailings.
Fall is particularly busy for this activity so lots of new
participants are needed!
