Client Services Volunteers are needed to work directly with clients in-person and on the phone. Computer knowledge and the ability to work in a fast-paced area are required for this position. Monday 9:00 am-12:00 noon and 1:00pm - 4:30pm Monday evenings 3:00 pm- 6:00 pm Food Pantry - Volunteer drivers are needed to pick up food items at area grocery store. Volunteers need to have own transportation. Drivers are needed Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 8am-finished (approximately 1 ½ hours) - Volunteers are needed to assist in the Pantry with receiving food donations, sorting and stocking food items, and preparing food boxes that are distributed daily. Position includes lots of walking, standing, and some lifting. Boys and Girls Country was established in 1971 as a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit charitable Home. Their mission is to change the lives of children from families in crisis by loving and nurturing them in a Christian environment, raising them to become self-sustaining and contributing adults.

Maintenance “Handy man” - plumbing, electrical, sheet rock repair, tile/carpet installation and repair, auto mechanics, ranching, and grounds keeping, group painting projects (cottage exteriors, barns, fences, etc.), 4-H experience (showing animals, photography, sewing, gardening, etc.) Landscape projects - maintain flowerbeds, horse program, assist Equestrian Coordinator with working horses, cleaning barn, etc.

The need for community involvement to ensure the success of CFISD students is clear, and there are many ways for community members to become involved in district schools. Volunteers provide increasingly technical expertise in areas such as computer and science labs, career day programs, fundraising, newsletters, public relations, clerical and instructional support. The expertise of volunteers directly supports the curriculum delivered to students.
Mentors Mentors are needed to work with at-risk students at all grade levels. Often, 30-minute to one-hour sessions once per week make an invaluable difference in the improvement in attitude, behavior and academics. Individuals trained as mentors share unique experiences and talents that make a difference in the lives of children.
Tutors Tutors who work one-on-one with a student or in small groups are needed in the areas of reading, writing composition and mathematics. Tutors must be willing to work with students as assigned and collaborate with the students’ teachers to develop strategies for academic success.
Presenters/Assistants Presenters/assistants serve as classroom speakers, technology assistants in computer labs, nursing assistants during yearly vision and hearing screenings (training is provided), and Junior Achievement & Exchange City facilitators at all grade levels. In addition, volunteers are needed to assist with the Galveston Bay Science Ambassador Program and facilitate presentations and tours at the Science Resource Center.
Business Partnerships Enable businesses to provide incentives and/or rewards to students and/or staff. Contributions are made in a variety of ways, including the adoption of a school or class; funding special district programs and providing employees to serve as mentors, tutors, presenters, etc.
Bus Buddies Bus Buddies is a partnership between the Cy-Fair volunteer community and the school district to provide assistance during the first week of school to elementary students to help them get off the bus at the correct location. The program

requires one "Bus Buddy" per elementary bus the first three days of school. The approximate time commitment is from 2:45 p.m. - 4:45 p.m.
Speaker’s Directory Speakers provide extracurricular information to support the teacher and enhance the material presented in the classroom, through a speaker’s bureau. Presentations will be coordinated directly with the teacher desiring your help and will normally be a 45 to 50 minute class period long.
Bilingual Tutors Bilingual tutors are needed for third grade reading and math.

Cypress Assistance Ministries is a 501(c)(3), non-profit that empowers families to improve their quality of life through a variety of life enhancing services including an assistance office, food pantry, job program and resale shop.
The Cellar Volunteers are needed to help sort, clean, hang and tag community donations.
Food Pantry The food pantry needs help stocking shelves, packing groceries and picking up donations of bread and other food from grocery stores and restaurants.
Special Delivery Program The Special Delivery program, serving seniors and the disabled, relies on
volunteer drivers to deliver groceries and check in with clients once a month.
Assistance Office Volunteers are needed to provide office support, including making follow up calls for Operation Jobs, contacting local merchants about job openings and taking care of miscellaneous promotional activities when needed. Especially needed are bilingual volunteers.
Angel's Attic Resale Shop Volunteers are needed to help merchandise and straighten the store, hang clothes, assist customers, work at the front counter and cashier.
Home Repairs This service for senior citizens depends completely on adult community volunteers with appropriate expertise. CAM has a list of seniors who need projects done around their home. Activities include painting, cleaning, and basic carpentry.

Brings people of diverse faith together for dialogue, collaboration and service. IM works with 10 communities of faith, including Bahá'i, Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Jain, Jewish, Muslim, Sikh, Unitarian Universalist and Zoroastrian. Together they provide the foundation upon which IM provides direct service, builds collaborative partnerships to serve seniors and refugees, and channels the faith community's preparedness and response to disaster.
Meals on Wheels Provides weekday lunch to more than 3,600 seniors and home-delivered breakfast and weekend meals to approximately 400 of our most at risk clients; we also provide pet food to about 250 clients who do not have the capacity to feed their pet companions. IM also distributes a box of shelf-stable groceries to more than 1,750 seniors each month. Deliver monthly grocery boxes for the Food for Seniors Program Visit with a homebound senior once a week in the Friendly Visitor Program. Refugee Assistance Welcomes more than 400 refugees each year under the auspices of national agencies who partner with the United States Department of State. Refugees include people who are fleeing persecution and oppression and have been given legal status to relocate to the United States. IM has particular expertise in resettling refugees from all over the world, helping these people with initial aspects of integration in the Houston community. IM provides housing, food, English as a second language; job placement and training; services to youth through HISD and other impactful programs; health assessments and processing and much more. IM is responsible to help our refugees become self-sufficient within five to six months. IM is recognized as one of the best refugee organizations in the US. IM services refugees from many countries. Currently the need for our services is from refugees from Iraq and Myanmar (Burma).

YMCA has established five categories of volunteers: Program volunteers - Help to lead programs as an instructor or coach aide. Support volunteers - Work in the office, front desk, or around the grounds. Fundraising volunteers - Raise funds through our campaigns (annual, capital,

Children’s Clinic - [email protected] - 281-885-4630 Volunteers assist with medical records retrieval, filing, confidential document analysis, and patient eligibility verification using the internet, computer data entry, and/or document filing and shredding. Bilingual skills are needed.
Development/Business Office - 281-885-4585 Office assistance includes follow-up phone calls, making appointments by phone, filing, addressing envelopes/ postcards, etc. A fill-in lobby receptionist is needed occasionally for phones and giving directions and information to clients. Newspaper/church bulletin scrapbooking is also available.
Family Violence Center - [email protected] - 281-885-4673 Primarily females who act as peer advocates for clients and/or receive hotline telephone calls. Volunteers commit to working one day per week. Training is provided.
Fifty Plus Senior Center - [email protected] - 281-885-4601 Volunteers staff the front reception desk and drive the NAM bus to pick up clients

for M-W-F bingo. Volunteers who have experience with crafts can assist with the Helping Hands project. Senior Wheels needs volunteer drivers to transport seniors to doctor's appointments, pharmacies and errands, weekdays and sometimes on weekends.
Food Pantry - 281-885-4589 Pantry volunteers participate in picking up food donations, sorting items, stocking
shelves and/or assembling grocery sacks for clients. There are two shifts available daily: 9:30 a.m. - noon and noon - 3:30 p.m., Monday - Friday.
Interfaith Hospitality Network/Families in Transition - 281-885-4567 Volunteers provide companionship, supervision, and mentoring for families in
transition. Volunteers may also act as an office assistant, special outings/events coordinator and/or tutor for children and adults.
Information Technology - IT - 281-885-4598 Data base entry volunteers for various NAM departments. Volunteers with some
hardware/software experience are needed to assist with repair and maintenance of workstations, laptops, and printers.
Meals on Wheels - 281-885-4622 Drivers are needed to deliver hot lunches on weekdays from NAM at 15555
Kuykendahl, or Prince of Peace Catholic Community at Highway 249 and Perry Road. Drivers are also needed on Saturdays to deliver frozen meals or groceries from the NAM location. Substitute drivers are always needed! Two hours per month is the minimum time requirement, although volunteers may drive as often as they like.
Rotary Learning Center/Workshop Development Program - 281-885-4616 The RLC/WDP needs adult tutors for basic literacy, ESL (English as a second language), math, and computer skills. The RLC is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and Wednesday: 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday and 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Friday.
Resale Shops - 281-897-8952 The NAM Resale Shop and Donation Center at Jones Road and Fallbrook needs volunteers to assist on the sales floor cleaning, straightening, sizing, and merchandizing items for sale. Volunteer hours are 8:30 a.m. - 6 p.m. Monday - Thursday and 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
Shelter and Energy Assistance - 281-885-4531 Volunteers in the SEA office may help with filing, copying, computer data entry, supply room organization, or other duties as needed. Volunteers are needed especially from March - August to complete applications for elderly and/or disabled clients. Mandatory training for this effort is offered in February.

Committees Community Development
B.E.S.T. Committee (Business & Education Standing Together) - Assists the Cy-Fair ISD in its programs relating to the community at large and serves as a liaison to the school district regarding the needs of the business community. Third Thursday, 8:00 am.
Community Growth - Identifies existing businesses within the chamber’s boundaries and determines business needs, coordinates discussions with business leaders in order to offer needed business retention assistance. They also work to develop a “pro-business” environment to attract new businesses to our area. Annually they sponsor an Economic Development Golf Tournament to showcase the Cy-Fair community. The committee also monitors infrastructure including electricity, gas, water, flood controls, and utilities in the Cy-Fair area. Fourth Friday, 8:00 am.
Community Safety - Allows the police, fire and EMS providers in our community an opportunity to communicate on a monthly basis with our major employers including our school district. First two months of every quarter on the last Wednesday of the month, 11:30 am., Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital, Professional Building 1.

Governmental Affairs - Develops positions on issues determined to be important to the community and the membership and acts as an advocate of those positions to the appropriate government and legislative offices. First Thursday, 9:15 am.
Mobility - Investigates current and future transportation issues and communicates those issues to the appropriate government offices in order to encourage and facilitate improvements of area transportation. This committee also provides an advocacy group representing the appropriate counties to promote the consideration of implementing passenger rail service along the existing Highway 290 railroad tracks currently owned and operated by Union Pacific. Service, in varying schedules, would be provided daily from downtown Houston to Cy-Fair and Hempstead/Prairie View and daily and/or weekly from downtown Houston to College Station. First Thursday, 8:00 am.
Membership Services Division
Ambassadors: serves as the outreach to the Chamber members by answering questions, assisting members and attending events. Second Thursday, 8:00 am.
BIG (Businesses in Growth) Committee - Assists owners of small businesses in the successful management of their companies by providing education and training through the BIG Academy. The committee also sponsors the monthly “Business in the Spotlight” at the general membership luncheon and recognizes successful businesses on an annual basis. Fourth Tuesday, 8:00 am.
Orientation - designs and implements a quarterly program for new and prospective Chamber members to inform them of the benefits of Chamber membership. Last Wednesday, Quarterly.
RAD (Referrals Are Dynamic) Network - composed of sales professionals, meets twice a month, on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 7:30 am. The members work to generate warm leads for the other members of the networking group.
Special Events
Chamber Herd - members of the Chamber Herd pool funds to support the Cy-Fair ISD FFA students. Animals are purchased at the annual auction in February and the meat is donated to local charities. No meetings, Attend FFA show first Saturday in February.
Sprint Presents Salute to Law Enforcement - This is an annual community event in the Cy-Fair area that brings 100 agencies together to meet the public. Benefits law enforcement scholarships. Second Tuesday, 3:30 pm.
Cy-Fair Ten Pin Challenge Bowling Tournament is in May and offers an

opportunity for our members to have a fun evening of networking and bowling. First & Third Monday, 9:30 am.
Miller Coors/Houston Distributing Monte Carlo Night - annual event is held in July and allows our members to have a fun evening of networking and gambling. Second and Fourth Friday, 9:30 am.
Business Exposition: annual event is held in September and allows our members to participate in a trade show that attracts over 600 visitors. Second Thursday, 9:30 am.
Mobility Forum Luncheon - annual luncheon is held in September and allows Cy-Fair residents and businesses to hear about current mobility issues in the Cy-Fair area. Unscheduled at this time.
Discover Cy-Fair Economic Development Golf Tournament - annual golf tournament is designed to attract brokers and developers to Cy-Fair with the goal of increasing interest in our area for commercial and industrial economic development. Second Wednesday, 8:00 am
