UNSW VPN AnyConnect Setup Guide

Windows 7 (32/64 bit)

Pre-Requisites For automatic download and installation of the Cisco AnyConnect client, the latest version of Java needs to be installed on your Operating System. To check or download the latest version of Java, visit the site below and follow the download links: www.java.com Downloading the AnyConnect Client for the first time 1. Open up your Internet browser and enter the address below in your address bar: https://vpn.unsw.edu.au 2. Enter your zID and zPass in the Username and Password fields and click the Login button.

3. You will see the UNSW IT Acceptable Use Policy displayed. Read the policy and click the Continue button if you agree to the terms:

4. ActiveX settings might block the installation. If you see the following warning asking if you want to install the Client, click on the Install button:

5. Windows will ask if you want to Install the program, click Yes:

6. Depending on which browser you are using, you may see the following warning. Click on the Allow button:

7. The installer will automatically install the client and try to connect to the VPN. You will see the following appear in your browser showing that the installation was successful:

8. You will then be automatically connected to the VPN. If you have been successful you will see Connection Established in the browser window:

You can also verify your connection by opening your icon taskbar in the bottom right menu bar and looking for the Cisco Anyconnect client icon shown below:

You can also double click the AnyConnect icon to look at the connection status:

Disconnecting from the VPN To disconnect from the VPN, double click the AnyConnect icon in the bottom right menu bar and click on the Disconnect button:

Reconnecting to the Cisco AnyConnect VPN Once you have installed the software successfully, you will no longer need to run the installation process again as the client will already be installed on your machine. 1. From the Start menu select All Programs 2. Click the Cisco folder, then select the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client 3. Click the Cicso AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client Program to open it. 4. The following pop up will appear with the VPN address already entered, click Connect:

5. Enter your UNSW zID and zPass and click OK:

Troubleshooting installations Java may prompt you to run the application. If you see the following pop up from Java click Run:

If your browser does not automatically install the software you will be shown the following screen with a download link to run a manual installation. Click on the link, save the file and then run the program once it has downloaded.
