We have recived a lot of e-mails with questions about detailed tutorialconcerning volume effect for Vray renderer. In this article, Myqel andPendzel show you how to use it. You will find here 2 parts, first forstandard rendering job and second for postproduction in Photoshop.
1. RENDERING
And here is our first test render.
Now lets increase Caustic subdivs to 1500.

Lets open START SCENE. Remember, when you will be creating scenelike this by yourselves - your volume light must have Shadows set onShadows Map.
Here you can see volume sets for Direct01 light. To add or create yourown volume effect - in Atmosphere section click on Add... button, inVolume Light Parameters click on Pick Light and choose appropriate light.
In our scene we have got light and metal ball - light will be reflect fromball and disperse on the walls making caustic effect. So here you can seesets Caustics in our renderer.
Now we decrease Caustic subdivs parameter to 500 - this will speed ourpreview renders up.
And light Multiplier to 10.
Well, as you can see it is brighter.
Now lets turn Indirect illumination (GI) on. This time I will use Lightcache as a GI engine in Secondary bounce - its subdivs lets set on 100.

In G-Buffor/Color mapping section let set Type as Intenisty exponentialand Bright multiplier to 3.

Hi, I getting the error when I load the file provided by the author: Missing DLLs: FileName:vrender60.dlr Class: VRayMtl SuperClass 0xC00 FileName: vrender60.dlr Class: VRay Adv 1.46.12superClass:0xF00 Any ideas?? how to get those DLlS or something?

Hi, PENdzel & Myqel, nice tutorial, many thanks coz it's very useful to me. however i have a question justlike the other...how can we pass about postpro in photoshop n all the production only done in max, is itpossible?, i'm sorry, maybe this is silly question but i/m curious, guys.can we or not? b'coz i wanna try tomaximize the truly potential of Vray n minimal help from photoshop... many thanks guys

Hi, The tutorial is very much informative , however I have a problem that when ever I try to render thescene it never reach the final image it stops after calculating GI and the pre passes, thus all I get at theend is a pixilated image why is that ? plz if u can help me figure what is wrong contact me [email protected]

Hi, the tutorial is nice, lot of work is done for it, but is for still image. whats about animation? can wefake it in the same way with Combustion or AfterFX? maybe switching to scanline and render elements/atmolsferics? A petition with prays: Vray engine needs to integrate the volume effects, manage them orcreate their own. thanx a lot.
