ORIENTATION AND EXCURSIONSSpend three days learning about this thriving metropolis through informational sessions about academic expectations, cultural activities and practical advice to start you off on the right foot. Begin the orientation by cruising the Singapore River on an iconic bumboat from Clarke Quay to the heart of the Financial District and Marina Bay Sands. From there you’ll explore the award-winning Gardens By the Bay including its famous Supertree Grove, before ending the evening atop Marina Bay Sands for amazing views of the city.Two other excursions - to the unique Kampong Glam neighborhood and journey back in time to explore Singapore’s historic trades - will take you even deeper into the heart of the city.

Throughout the semester our local staff arrange various activities designed to help immerse you in the local culture. These activities are included in your semester program. Previous activities have been a Chinatown tour and exploring a local island, Pulau Ubin.

ACCOMMODATIONStudents live in off-campus apartments within close walking distance to campus and easy access of public transport to take you all over the city. To promote further cultural exchange, our integrated housing policy ensures students share apartments with other visiting students at SMU. The apartment complex includes a pool, tennis court, on-site laundry, TV room, cafes and a small fitness room. Students will be responsible for their own meals and cooking. Utilities and internet are included.
