Research

Date: Start time:Weather & cloud cover:

Temperature:

Try using tally marks: IIIII

End time:Time of day:

Here is how you can answer it scientifically (Procedure):To what extent do Turkey Vultures and Black Vultures live in my neighborhood? Here is a question we invite you to research:

Get your journal and a pencil (or your electronic device).➢Pick a spot with a good view of the sky. If you can’t go outside find a window with a clear view of the sky.

if you can’t go outside find a window with a clear view of the sky.

Be sure to not count the same vulture twice.➢

Record the weather including the temperature.➢➢ At the same time each day (if you plan to do it for more than one day) look up and

count vultures for ten minutes. Don’t see any? Don’t worry. Zero is important data.Record your data in this journal (Later we will ask you to share your data with NorthBay on the website).

Analysis

These graphs show the average amount of Black Vultures and Turkey Vultures we counted per lesson during April and May from the years of 2006 to 2018. For example, if you counted all the Turkey Vultures you observed during one lesson in April 2007 you would expect to see 8.3 turkey vultures, but if you did the same thing again in April 2018, you would only see 3.3 Turkey Vultures on average.
