“Retailers have so many ways to interact with customers and drive them in store.”
SweatyBetty “The way people style up their gym kit has never been so important, fashion and fitness have never been so interlinked, you now see people wearing active wear pieces as part of their everyday wardrobe. There’s been a huge shift in women’s active wear.”
TedBaker “Customers are looking to make meaningful purchases, they want to try new things and experiences and they are engaging more and more with brands.”
BouxAvenue“Customer expectation is much higher than ever before, and this gives brands the opportunity to provide incredible shopping experiences.”
ThomasSabo “Customers are better researched than ever as they use online and physical stores to make their ultimate decisions. Retailers have so many ways to interact with consumers and drive them in store that the future remains exciting.”
GroupeNoctis“Online shopping now plays a major part in French consumers’ shopping habits, but we think that Les Terrasses du Port is a perfect reflection of the multitude of brands and products that can be found online.”

“Our boutiques are becoming much more than just ‘shops’ in the traditional sense.”
BouxAvenue“The retail industry will continue to evolve by bridging online and offline shopping. We truly believe that we have one customer who shops on all channels and we will always strive to deliver our products to customers wherever they are and whenever they choose them.”
ThomasSabo“The continued rise of technology will play a major part in retail over the next five years, and we are looking at all forms of technologies to meld the worlds of digital and physical retailing. In the next five years you will probably know who is in your store, and what they were looking at online before they came in – you could almost have the pieces ready for them to try on!”
SweatyBetty“Our boutiques are becoming much more than just ‘shops’ in the traditional sense, we see our stores more as a ‘fitness hub’. We offer free in-store classes and information about the best local studios; we have become a fitness hub in our local communities.”

Costa’s Carbon Neutral Eco-Pod Wrekin Retail Park, Telford
Hammerson worked collaboratively with Costa Coffee to design Costa’s 1,600 sq ft Carbon Neutral Eco-Pod which opened in April 2015 in Wrekin Park, Telford. The new concept coffee shop is the first of its kind in the UK and has achieved the highest provisional Energy Performance Certificate rating of A+.
Jim Slater, Managing Director of Costa UK and Ireland, said: “Through a successful partnership with Hammerson, we have developed an outstanding new type of test bed building design which really does have the potential to make a massive difference if rolled out more widely.”
At Hammerson, sustainability underpins everything that we do. Our sustainability vision is to create retail destinations that deliver positive impacts economically, socially and environmentally. Positive Places is our strategy for making that happen. For 2015 and beyond, a set of new commitments, each with their own key targets, have been developed:
To Challenge and Innovate Challenging the status quo and trialling new approaches and solutions to support the transition to a more sustainable business model.
To Serve and InvestDelivering social value to the communities we serve, measured in jobs, skills, civic pride and investment.
To Protect and EnhanceProtecting and enhancing our natural environment by minimising resource consumption and delivering restorative projects.
To Partner and CollaborateTaking a stakeholder led approach to create collaborative projects and evolve from client to partner.
To Upskill and InspireInvesting in our people, as well as recognising and rewarding those that deliver change with sustainability related objectives.

Parc Tawe Retail Park is an edge-of-city-centre scheme in Swansea. The scheme extends to 22,600 sq m and incorporates 5,500 sq m of leisure use, including a cinema. A comprehensive refurbishment will be undertaken in Q4 2015 to introduce new restaurants and improve the links with the city centre.
Located north of Gloucester City Centre, St Oswald’s is the dominant retail park in its catchment. Comprising 20,000 sq m of predominantly bulky goods retail and leisure space over two terraces, the retail park includes 1,100 sq m of restaurants and 990 parking spaces.
Ravenhead Retail Park was acquired by Hammerson in March 2007. The scheme is a high specification, modern retail park which was developed in several phases from 2000 to 2006. It has an Open A1/bulky goods planning consent. Tenants include B&Q, Next, Boots and Argos.
The Orchard Centre provides the main retail offer for Didcot, 14 miles south of Oxford. Part open mall, part retail park, it is anchored by a Sainsbury’s food store. The adjacent site is allocated for retail-led, mixed-use redevelopment. Hammerson has been appointed by South Oxfordshire District Council to progress the scheme and an application for 25 new retail and leisure units has been approved.
