HP Reverb VR Headsets - Setting Up HP VR Reverb Headsets withWindows Mixed Reality (Windows 10)
This document is for HP Reverb and Reverb Pro Edition Virtual Reality Headsets, and PCs with Windows 10.
Set up and begin using your head mounted display (HMD) devices.
To troubleshoot issues with Windows Mixed Reality setup, go to Microsoft webpage Troubleshooting Windows Mixed Reality (in English).
Before connecting the headset and installing Windows Mixed Reality, gather the required supplies and make sure your computer is compatible and up todate.
1. Sign in to an administrator user account, and then make sure your computer is connected to the internet.
2. Use Windows Update and HP Support Assistant to check for and install any available driver updates.
3. Confirm your computer meets the minimum requirements to use Windows Mixed Reality.
Graphics: DX12 capable graphics. NVIDIA GTX 1080, NVIDIA Quadro P5200, AMD Radeon Pro WX 8200 (update or later) equivalent or better.
Processor: Intel Core i7 or Intel Xeon E3-1240 v5 equivalent or better.
Memory: 16 GB RAM or more.
Video out: DisplayPort 1.3 USB ports: 1x USB 3.0.
Operating system: Windows 10 October 2018 Update (version 1809) or later. To find your Windows 10 version, search for and open About.
NOTE: You can also go to Microsoft Mixed Reality: Minimum PC hardware guidelines (in English) for a list of requirements.

4. Make sure your computer is compatible with Windows Mixed Reality. From the Microsoft Store, download and run the Windows Mixed Reality PC Checkapp. After the app completes a review of the computer's hardware, drivers, and operating system, one of the following messages display:
You're good to go: The computer is compatible and each compatible hardware component displays a green checkmark.
Supports some features: The computer might be compatible and the components with a yellow triangle might not work as expected.
Can't run mixed reality: The computer is not compatible and components that do not meet the minimum requirements are indicated with a red 'X.'
5. Gather the devices you need.
Adapters: You might need adapters for Bluetooth, USB 3.0, or Mini DisplayPort 1.3 ports.
NOTE: Make sure any display adapter supports 4K resolution and any USB adapter supports USB 3.0 or higher. For more
information about recommended adapters, go to Microsoft Mixed Reality: Recommended adapters (in English).
Input devices: You can use Mixed Reality Motion Controllers, an Xbox controller, or a mouse and keyboard.
Connect the headset to your computer, and then open Windows Mixed Reality.
1. Attach the headset connector to the single port on the split headset cable.
2. Connect the headset to a USB 3.0 port on your computer. If you do not have enough open USB ports on your computer, use an AC-powered external USB
3.0 hub. For more information, go to Microsoft Mixed Reality: Recommended adapters (in English).
NOTE: If you are using a Bluetooth adapter, do not connect the USB connector next to the Bluetooth adapter because radio
interference might affect Bluetooth performance.
3. Connect the cable to the Mini DisplayPort on your computer.
If your headset is not recognized or does not function when connected using an adapter, dongle, or hub, connect the headset directly tothe computer, tablet, or other device.
NOTE: If you use an adapter, make sure any display adapter supports 4K resolution and any USB adapter supports USB 3.0 or higher.

The headset driver installs and the Mixed Reality Portal (MRP) opens on your computer.
4. On the Mixed Reality Portal Welcome window, click Get started to download Windows Mixed Reality. If the MRP does not open, use Device Manager toconfirm that the driver installed, and then open the MRP from the Start menu.
5. When the download completes, accept the license terms and agreements.
The installer checks the computer to make sure it is compatible with Windows Mixed Reality.
6. When the You're good to go message displays, click Next.

If the message does not display, resolve any issues found in the compatibility check.
Green checkmark: Your computer meets compatibility requirements for that item.
Yellow triangle: Your computer has an issue with that item. You might need to troubleshoot or upgrade your computer to resolve the issue.
Red X: Your computer does not meet the requirements for that item. You might need to troubleshoot or upgrade your computer to resolve the issue.
Choose an option below to set up your motion controllers.
Windows Mixed Reality motion controllers: Press and hold the Windows button on each controller for approximately 2 seconds to turn on the controllers.The controllers are pre-paired with the headset via Bluetooth.
Xbox controller or mouse and keyboard: Click Use a gamepad or mouse instead, and then click Next.
The motion controllers are now ready to use. Continue to the next step.
Clear a large, open space, and then set up (trace) the boundary for using the VR headset.
NOTE: If you want to use Windows Mixed Reality while seated or standing in front of your computer only, select Set me up for seated
and standing, and then skip to the next step. Some apps and games might not work as intended.
1. Clear a large, open space that measures at least 1.5 m x 2 m (5 ft x 7 ft) and is free of obstacles or hazards. Make sure to clear the space above you, aswell.
2. Select Set me up for all experiences (recommended), stand in front of your computer, and then hold the headset in front of you at waist level.
3. Point the headset toward your computer, and then select Center.
The headset centers.
4. Hold the headset in front of you at waist level, point the headset at your computer, and then click Trace.
5. Walk around the perimeter of the cleared space while pointing the headset at your computer.
6. After tracing the boundary, click Accept.
If the boundary is not accepted or you want to retrace it, click Start over, and then repeat the steps.
You can choose to use keyboard dictation, Cortana, or speech commands while using Windows Mixed Reality.
If you want to use speech commands: Click Use Speech, and then follow the on-screen instructions to set up speech commands.

If you do not want to use speech commands: Click Maybe later.
After you trace the boundary and accept or decline speech commands, the Mixed Reality Portal begins the final installation of necessary components. Thiscan take several minutes. After the installation completes, a Welcome screen displays. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the setup from within theMixed Reality Portal. The setup is complete when the virtual Cliff House environment displays.
To enter mixed reality later, put on the headset while it is connected to your computer. You can also open the Mixed Reality Portal app from the Start menu.To manually route input and audio to the headset, press the Windows + Y keys.
