SUPPORT AND RESEARCH? The Center for Community Support and Research (CCSR) at Wichita State University has served Kansas for more than 29
years. Our interdisciplinary staff works closely with nonprofit organizations, state and local government, community
coalitions, support groups, faith-based organizations and individuals to provide leadership and organizational
development, community-based consultation, research and evaluation, and projects with the Mental Health Initiative.
CCSR is the current Sponsoring Organization for AmeriCorps VISTAs in Wichita, KS.

Educational Wichita State University has 123 degree programs, 70 undergraduate degree programs in more than 200 areas of study, 41 master’s degree programs, 12 doctoral degree programs, and more than 20 graduate certificate programs. Wichita Area Technical College has over 75 programs of study. Wichita Technical Institute offers programs in Computer Technology, Heating, Air, and Refrigeration Technology, Pharmacy Technician, and more. Future Employment Wichita is home to Spirit Aerosystems. Engineering, finance, legal services, and manufacturing are just a few of the career options Wesley Medical Center, Via Christi Health, GraceMed, ComCare, the Cancer Center of Kansas, Mental Health America, and Rainbows United are some of the local health services with thousands on staff. Entertainment Century II Performing Arts Center and INTRUST Bank Arena have hosted entertainment shows. The Music Theater of Wichita has produced Broadway Shows. The Warren Movie Theaters in Wichita offers a full restaurant with refreshments brought to moviegoers by pressing a red button. Interactive Activities The Exploration Place is Wichita’s science center that inspires learning about the natural world. The Sedgwick County Zoo hosts year round programs. Botanica Wichita offers eight gardens. Rock River Rapids is an exciting aquatic park. Other centers include Greater Wichita YMCA, Roller City, Great Plains Nature Center, Starlit Drive-In, Museum of World Treasures, and the Lake Afton Observatory.
Mid-American All-Indian Center The Mid-America All-Indian Center hosts classes on creating Native American art, weekly Community Nights, and many seasonal powwows like the annual American Indian Festival held every summer that brings native tribes from across the country. Museums, Libraries and Local Events The Wichita Art museum is the second largest art museum in the state of Kansas with over 7,000 pieces. The Old Cow Town Museum transports visitors to the 1870s. Wichita has ten local libraries across the city, including the Maya Angelou Northeast branch that hosts African Heritage events and an annual Kwanzaa party.
