WACKER ACADEMY in North and Central America

WHERE EXPERTISE LIES AT YOUR FEETEach WACKER ACADEMY in North America has its own specialty. Allentown focuses on construction applications, while Dalton is specialized in VAE binders for carpets and Adrian is known for its training sessions on silicones and cyclodextrins. Mexico City is the main training institution for Central America and hence offers training primarily in Spanish.

Up and Away In Mexico, the WACKER ACADEMY is located in the Torre Murano next to the offices of Wacker Mexicana S.A., the technical center, and R&D laboratories for dispersible polymer powders and VAE dis-persions. The program includes polymer and silicone training.

VINNAPAS® vinyl acetate-ethylene (VAE) dispersions offer a variety of advantages over traditional latex in carpets: their price is more stable, they emit hardly any volatile organic com-pounds, provide greater flame-retardance, are easy to process – and are almost odorless.

WACKER ACADEMY in Europe

WHERE IT ALL BEGANThe first WACKER ACADEMY was established in Burghausen in 2007 and still offers a particularly wide-ranging program to this day. Moreover, the seminar rooms are located on the over 2-km2 grounds of our most important production site. That ensures a unique atmosphere. Just one year later, our second European WACKER ACADEMY was founded in Moscow.

Since 2014 the Burghausen WACKER ACADEMY has had its own training laboratory for silicone applications, just a few steps from its training room. This underscores our training portfolio’s emphasis on silicone topics, including basic seminars on silicone rubber, training on silicone-based building protection and application seminars on silicone-based textile- or personal-care products.

Silicone Resin Emulsion Paints WACKER developed silicone resin emul-sion paints (SREPs) at its laboratories in the 1960s. Our training programs demonstrate how SREP can cut renovation cycles by half.

Silicone rubber grades are truly multi-talented. WACKER ACADEMY offers more than just theoretical seminars here. Site tours provide insights into production and training at our rubber pilot plant shows how formulation differences can affect processability in the most commonly used machines.


Moscow The WACKER ACADEMY in Moscow dates back to 2008 and is located right next door to our Technical Center. Along with the Burghausen Technical Center, this ranks among the few laboratories worldwide that feature an “EOTA climatic chamber.” Construction materials are subjected to realis-tic aging processes and tested in time- lapse mode.

In the climatic chamber, facade test specimens are created at extremely low temperatures (-40 °C) for special tests.

SOMETHING TO BUILD ONTraditionally, the WACKER ACADEMY in Dubai specialized in construction, paint and coating topics. Today, it also covers several silicone segments such as personal care, insulator coating and concrete protection. “With our training program, we reach not only our customers, but also the customers of our customers, such as consultants and contractors,” says Mohammed Sanaobar, head of the WACKER ACADEMY in Dubai.
