EVALUATING PERFORMANCE IN EACH STAGE ON THE DESIGN CYCLE

InvestigationOn the investigation stage I could be better in explaining my aim for my second stereotype. From the weaknesses I had from the last project I should have been explain what I could done better to make clear what I could change for the this project

DesignIn designing the improved model of the sofa I have made clear changes in several part of it. First of all, I have made the sofa to suit in the second function which is for storage. Secondly, it was designed so they could split itself into two. This was going to be useful in order to space saving or suiting the moment for the usage of the sofa. and also I have made it in the google sketch. It would be better if i didn't deleted the google sketch-up so I could add and improve more clearly from the last project. In addition I should a clear explanation about the cost of the product because this is also a very important aspect in making the sofa so it would match with the budget and also to decide which material are going to be use.

Plan I have clearly drawn each step on the planning stage plus its information of what we should do. All was written in easy and sophisticated language which make it easy to understand and I am sure that other people could do it.

Create In creating the product, I have followed my plan and the gantt chart so it was done on time and personally I feel satisfied in the result of the product. I have made a decent looks for a wacky sofa which also have the function that will suit the client’s needs. I could have done better in carving the sofa for next time, to make it looks even better and both side of the sofa ( right and left curve) should be in the same proportion.

EvaluateAccording to my opinion, the evaluation stage was very useful because from it I could see my strength and weaknesses from each stage. The reflection process has abled me to see my strength, weaknesses and also the quality of my work. What I could have done better is to state my weaknesses and always attaching the possible solution to correcting the mistake.


TESTING : MEETING SPECIFICATION

FUNCTION Could people seat on it? ✔Da’Throne is right and fit for 6 people. # will seat on the right side and the other 3

will seat on the left.

SIZE Did the size stay inside the dimensions xI adjust the dimension into the plywood that I got once beginning to create the

product.

MATERIALS Was it a good material? ✔I would like to use velour fabric, since I

couldn’t find it I got a back up to paint the cushion. With it, I could show the cushion

and also the color design.

SAFETY Does it have sharp edges? ✔I have used the sander properly in all sides

of the sofa. All of them have smooth surface, so it would be safe to be use.

foam and paint so it wouldn’t be too expensive

ENVIRONMENT Is it green? ✔All the materials that I used are easy to

recycle which are not damaging the environment.


SUCCESSFUL POINT OF PRODUCT

+ Second function According to my opinion what I did well in the product was on shown the second function and improvement from the last project . Using the first project stereotype I could show the difference and improvement I made.

+ ColorSeeing from the last project, I think that the color was too bright. However, I changed the color from light gold into more darker color, it almost looks like bronze. For me, I like it better because the sofa looks more fancy and the color are still matching with the fabric for the cushion.

+ Product Presentation & EffectivenessIn addition I was also doing well in the designing, finishing and presentation of my work, From my sofa I have shown the effectiveness of my product which could be seen from the shape and for the storage


LEAST SUCCESSFUL POINT

- CushionI didn’t know in the first place that after painted the cushion, it became slightly harder than how it supposed to be. It wasn’t the way I wanted because the cushion should represented the client that it would be a soft and an uncomfortable sofa to seat on.

- Unsymettrical CurveThrough out the process in cutting the outline of the sofa, I always found the difficulties to make both side evenly the same looks and in the same size. However, I assume that my product looks good but still the size are not precisely right


MODIFICATION/IMPROVEMENT

From the last project which was done before, I became more effective in doing each step. For example, I didn’t forget to use the duck tape when painting different parts of my sofa. With this I could save up more time and also it tidy. It is affecting the looks of my product and I think I had improved in it. For the shape of the sofa itself it has became smoother than the first stereo type, looks better and more balance between two sides.

IMPACT TO SOCIETY

For the society, everybody in school could be blend in easier . It is both usable and suitable for those who want to relax themselves in school . Parents, students, and teacher could use the sofa with relaxing themselves during lunch, break or recess. It is also able students to gather around and chilling with this sofa, Da’Throne is the perfect sofa for seating, studying and chilling in the school


IMPACT TO ENVIRONMENT

In a small scale of production, in term of natural recourses : my sofa wouldn’t be a negative effect to the environment. Even if the sofa has big size , it couldn’t increase the level of global warning; it is used for personal usage and single production . Although, if is no longer wanted, the sofa could be easy to be recycled because it is wood which make them easy to cut . We could use another usable parts from the sofa and develop it into more usable products.
