It is with a sad and heavy heart that as noted on the front page, Paul Davis has passed away after a two

year battle with cancer.

Many of you knew Paul as a strong man, and he didn’t let on to pretty much anyone outside of his family what he was going through. He didn’t want anyone to treat him any differently. Paul, along with John Young (who too passed a couple years ago), were the two reps that I first met when I joined this industry here in Central Florida almost 18 years ago. Both of these men were stellar individuals that had knowledge specific to the industry like no others. Paul, you will be sincerely

missed.

In this month’s meeting, we welcome Vince Scriboni, who has been involved in all aspects of the plumbing industry for approximately 40 years. Vince will speak on A historical look at roof & wall penetrations, as well as the ICC-500-2014 Rules for Safe Shelter Construction, the 2015 IECC Rules & Regulations for the new energy codes as it pertains to penetrations is also discussed.

CEUs will be available for this meeting.

Thank you to Melissa for hosting our annual chapter’s Christmas party. It was held at the piano bar, Howl at the Moon, down on I-drive. We had about 30 individuals there to celebrate, have a drink or two, and sing along to a song. It was an enjoyable evening, and I hope you also enjoyed yourselves. Melissa also put together a slide show with pictures over the last year, so many of us were on ‘the big screen’ smiling or making some oth-er weird face at the camera, posing with their clay shoot team, and other memories from the year. Again, thank

you to Melissa for organizing another great event.

As a reminder, Friday February 7th is our annual clay shoot. Many teams have signed up, but I believe there is still just a little bit more room. It will again be held at

BlackJack Sporting Clays in Sumterville, with a start at 9 am, with breakfast before. Please be onsite by 8.30 for registration so we can get underway right at 9 am. Lunch, award, and adult beverages will follow the event. This has been a favorite event of many member for sev-eral years, and this year will not disappoint! Please con-tact Chris Farr for last minute registration and sponsor-ship information. Bring your cash and credit cards as

two brand new shotguns will be raffled off.

We will have our annual technical class at the end of spring and beginning of summer time frame. The topic is likely to be on hot water systems. More information

will be forthcoming.

If you have any pictures you would like to share as a ‘lesson learned’ or ‘I can’t believe they installed it this way’ please send them on and Rob will include them. Also if you have any ideas for meetings, please give

you suggestions to Chase.

We will see you all at our next meeting at Il Pescatore

on January 28th.

More from Pittsburgh ASPE Technical Symposium There really were some really great speakers at the Symposium. There were five separate tracks and so many different tracks it was hard to decide which one to attend. By attending any of the ASPE events whether it is a local chapter meeting event or National Convention or Symposium, you are always……”Investing in Your-self”. I can’t think of a better investment than in your professional growth. One of the workshops I attended was titled “Project Management Basics for Success”. Project management is the application of knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to project activities to meet the project requirements. There were a ton of slides in this presentation, below are a few bullet points from the presentation. If anyone is interested in the PowerPoint slides, shoot me an email or text and I’ll be glad to send you a copy. Proposals and Budgets -Gather as much info as possible

Hello fellow plumbing design professionals. Hope you had a great holiday season and are prepare for a prosperous new year!. Education Last spring, we had a great Education Workshop on Medical Gas. Those who attended the class really en-joyed the interaction of the class which started out with an instruction to the medical gas standards in NFPA 99, some common practices before breaking into groups to design a small medical gas system. We believe an in-teractive workshop offers the right amount of infor-mation to benefit the entry level apprentice designer as well as the seasoned professional. This year, we are working to put together a similar workshop in the spring. Just like last year, it will be held on a Saturday in the spring, breakfast and lunch will be available and ASPE CEUs will be provided. Further details will be made available soon. Don’t forget to check out the ASPE Connect Forum where you get to participate in a number of topics being discussed via this new ASPE medium. The forums offer a way to stay in touch with others in the communi-ty and see the questions, and answers, the community has to offer. Maybe you can find the answer to some-thing you need help within your designs. Check it out.

See you at our next meeting!
