earth beneath or in the waters below.

You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous

God…”

The LORD said to Moses, “Come up to me on the mountain and stay here, and I will give you

the tablets of stone, with the law and commands I have written for their instruction.”

Then Moses set out with Joshua his aide, and Moses went up on the mountain of God. He said

to the elders, “Wait here for us until we come back to you. Aaron and Hur are with you, and anyone involved in a dispute can go to them.”

“As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don’t know what has happened to

him.”

Aaron answered them, “Take off the gold earnings that your wives, your sons and your

daughters are wearing, and bring them to me.”

So all the people took off their earrings and brought them to Aaron. He took what they

handed him and made it into an idol cast in the shape of a calf, fashioning it with a tool.

Exodus 32:3

Then they said, “These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.”

Then the LORD said to Moses, “Leave this place, you and the people you brought up out

of Egypt,

and go up to the land I promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob…

… Go up to the land flowing with milk and honey.

But I will not go with you, because you are a stiff-necked people and I might destroy you on

the way.”

Then, Moses said to him, “If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from

here.

How will anyone know that you are pleased with me and with your people unless you go

with us?

What else will distinguish me and your people from all the other people on the face of this

earth?

And the LORD said to Moses, “I will do the very thing you have asked…”

Exodus 33

… because I am pleased with you and know you by name.”

Then, Moses said, “Now show me your glory.”

Exodus 33

Then have them make a

sanctuary for me, and I will dwell among

them.

Exodus 25:8

Then have them make a

And the people continued to bring freewill

So all the skilled craftsman who were doing all

the work on the sanctuary left their work and said to Moses,

“The people are bringing more

than enough for doing the work

the LORD commanded to

be done.”

“The people are bringing more

than enough for doing the work

the LORD commanded to

be done.”

Then Moses gave an order and they sent

this word throughout the camp: “No man or woman is…

… to make anything else as an offering for the sanctuary.”

And so the people were

restrained from

bringing more, because what they had was

more than enough to do all

the work.
