The Adventure Begins Only A Few Steps From The Resorts Powder White Beach

where a lush drop-off stretches along several distinct dive sites. Lionfish, clownfish, rays, batfish, crocodile

fish, jawfish, ghost pipefish, waspfish, schooling jacks, turtles, mandarin fish, leaf fish and several species

of pygmy seahorse inhabit a reef resplendently abloom with life. The elusive blue-ringed octopus also

makes an occasional appearance. Brilliant soft corals, oversized gorgonians, vibrant sponges and delicate

tunicates in every hue create an intricately woven tapestry of color and texture. At night, the resorts famous

House Reef (page 9), one of the worlds best shore dives, explodes in a flurry of activity.

Pelagian provides a level of comfort rarely afforded to dive travelers. The spacious dive deck is replete with

hot water showers and after every dive our staff is standing by with fresh, warm towels and a beverage

of choice. Onboard cuisine is prepared to the same high standard as that of the resort, as our chefs take

turns between Pelagian and Wakatobi. The vessel is manned by an experienced, international crew and is

maintained to the highest standards at all times with your safety and comfort foremost. Two custom-made

18ft rigid hull inflatable (RIB) dive tenders used for all diving are equipped with dual outboards, tank racks

and secure stainless boarding ladders, making them easy to enter and exit.

Dive In Good Conscience. Recognizing the fragility and uniqueness of the marine environment and the

need for sustainable conservation, the founders of Wakatobi, in partnership with local leaders, developed

the Collaborative Reef Conservation Program. This program motivates the local population to realize the

value of their reefs, by generating income from tourism that is channeled directly into the local community,

providing a true economic alternative to fishing, and remunerating those who help protect and manage the

reefs. Through the persistent work and commitment of the resorts owners and staff, the local community,

and the cooperation of visiting divers, a substantial region of this community-based marine reserve is now

a protected sanctuary, whose reefs and marine life will remain healthy and vibrant for future generations
