Wake Electric Has Money To Return to Former MembersBecause Wake Electric is a

not-for-profi t utility, when we make money beyond our operating costs, we return that money to our members in the form of “capital credits.” Because the formula for distribution is based on prior years of operation, often customers who

are entitled to capital credits have moved and it is diffi cult to locate them. If the U.S. Postal Service returns a capital check to us, we make every effort to locate the person entitled to the check. The following is a list of people who have had their checks returned to us

because their address is not correct. If you see your name or the names of family, friends or associates, please have them contact Wake Electric at 1-800-474-6300, 919-863-6300, or email us at [email protected]. You can also visit our website for the names at www.wemc.com.

Changes in Delinquent Notifi cation Starting September 1, 2011, Wake Electric will no longer mail separate delinquent notifi cations to members who are past due on their electric utility bill payment. Members should always refer to any notice on the bill regarding payment deadlines and consider that communication a fi nal reminder for payment prior to disconnection of service. Wake Electric makes several efforts each month to let members know when a bill is due and past due, but in order to streamline our efforts and cut costs we will no longer mail a separate delinquent notice.

Bills are due and payable upon receipt and considered delinquent if payment is not received in our offi ce by the close of business on the 25th

day from the billing date. Members whose bills become delinquent are charged a late payment charge of one and one-half percent (1.5%) per month or a minimum of $5.00.

If the bill is still delinquent when the next month’s bill is prepared, the bill will show the previous month’s account balance, indicating the amount and date for which service is subject to disconnection. Wake Electric’s offi ce can be contacted prior to the disconnection date to discuss payment arrangements. Members may also request in writing that a copy of their bill(s) be sent to a third party if desired. For more information on bill payment, please visit www.wemc.com/about.aspx.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY TIP Add Attic Insulation

One of the easiest ways to make your home more energy effi cient is to add insulation in the attic. To see if you need insulation, look across an uncovered attic fl oor. If the insulation is level with or below the fl oor joists, you probably need to add more.
