News For The Residents at Lakes of FairhavenMay 2015 Volume 3, Issue 5

Hello neighbors and friends!Spring time is half over and things around Walden on Lake Houston are getting

exciting. Hopefully, by the time you receive this letter; CBONS/CBIGG has completed their acquisition of the Dominion Golf Group and has announced their plans to revitalize all of our Walden facilities. I don’t know if you are aware of the subtle changes happening around the club; better service, better food offerings, more events that not only are for members but for all of our Walden community, and opportunities to be a voice to improve your Walden experience.

The Board of Governors (BOG) is in the process of establishing a relationship with our Home Owners Association (HOA) to ensure that any issues, plans and communications are shared to all of our community. Mr. Larry Tucker, who is on the HOA Board, will be the interface between the two groups. The BOG is also in the midst of setting up several new committees: Communications Committee, Pride & Recognition Committee, and a Community Outreach Committee. These committees will be an integral part of making the new Walden a much more pleasant experience for everyone. If any of you are interested in being on any of these committees, please contact any BOG member or Walden manager.

CBONS/CBIGG has added another ultimate club benefit that everyone can take advantage of within our community and as members. The benefit is called CONNECT and it offers the opportunity to those that join, the ability to reduce their food costs fifty percent (50%) when dining at Walden or other CBONS Connect Clubs. There is a monthly fee but everyone should be able to recoup that expense by utilizing the club more often for dining or for some of the fun events that will be coming up. For more information on this benefit, please contact Tanna Follis who can provide you with a brochure concerning the offering and the sites where you can utilize the benefit.

What does all this mean to our community and the current members of Walden? It means change. As mentioned in my other letters to you, CBONS has the full intention of investing a large sum of money to update / upgrade our club and all the facilities and to change the culture at Walden. These changes are already in progress.

Lastly, Walden has a new Golf Superintendent, Cody Skarpa formerly of Cypresswood Country Club. Please join all of us and welcoming him to Walden. If you haven’t met Cody, please say hello when you have the opportunity.

Sincerely,Walt Albright2015 Chairman, Walden on Lake Houston Board of Governors

Kitchen maKeovers in mayCould your kitchen use an update? You can transform your dull, seemingly dated

kitchen into a stylish, modern centerpiece of your home with a few DIY projects that you could tackle in a weekend:

Recolor Your Scheme – Freshen up your colors. Adding a new coat of paint or taking some risk with bold, striking wallpaper can miraculous transform any room. Don’t forget the 60-30-10 rule!

Contain The Clutter – Add functional storage to help contain the kitchen mess that can make your space feel cramped and cluttered. You can find some inexpensive solutions to improve how you store food as well as pots and pans online.

Update Your Cabinetry – You might be amazed at the difference knobs and handles can make to your kitchen cabinetry. With a drill and knob placement tool from your local hardware store you can ensure every knob and handle is perfectly placed in minutes.

Still Struggling with Ideas? - Check out one of my favorite FREE apps; “houzz”. It is filled with fantastic ideas, pictures, and instructions to remake any part of your home.
