Story of the two mothers

• The two mothers who live on opposite sides of the globe had decided to educate their children of their capabilities in making a difference.

• They aimed to raise funds for the 700,000 people who do not have enough to eat in their home state of Massachusetts.

• In order to raise this fund they had to influence the public to take part in the walking event and increase the number of supporters.

• In order to raise awareness of their event, boys and girls between 5 to 12 to walk the distance of 6.4km which is roughly the distance between Orchard Road and Toa Payoh.

• They did this on purpose to their children in order to let them understand that not everything in this world is perfect. Children are more thoughtful and observant around age 5 to 12 as they are able to learn more within age.

• However she doesn’t have the intention to raise awareness of all the world’s problems to her son at this stage of early life. She believed that he can do something about in his own little way.

• In Singapore , 450 children from 30 schools took part last year. One team helped design and exercise machine for the elderly and successfully tested it at a community hospital. This helps us to be more sympathetic to others.

• To Bulya , Ms Setha and the millions of mothers here and abroad who are trying to raise children who care. Thanks for what you did.
