Walker in the Wastes - Keepers only
You've reached the Walker in the Wastes resource site. Since this is intended mainly as
a resource collection, I'll make it quick and just index the files that are lying around
here.
Newer documents will be added on top, so that old hands can find what they're looking
for faster.
If you're a player and not the Keeper, I'm sure your Keeper would think that this
is a good time to go browse somewhere else.
By the way, some interesting news. I think I've finally located someone who can
convert Blair's diary to PDF. Hopefully I'll be able to translate it in the next couple of
weeks.
NEW! Dead of
Winter Maps 181kb
Two high-resolution images detailing alternative maps for Dead of
Winter, created and submitted by Boris Lohmann. The zip file
includes a detailed explanation of the ship drift route and a text file
explaining the nomenclature.
Expedition
Information:
The Artic 614kb
A PDF doucment with information on the artic, suitable as a handout
for your players before they get to the prologue. Created and
submitted by Morten Kjeldseth Pettersen.
Exploration of
the Artic
Regions 604kb
A pretty good looking PDF document with information on
exploration of the artic regions, Lord Franklin, the Inuit and what
not, created and submitted by Morten Kjeldseth Pettersen.
Reinhold Blair's
diary 39kb A document created collaboratively on the Walker in the Wastes
mailing list intended to be used as Reinhold Blair's diary. It's a
zipped RTF file, and here are the fonts for it.
Right now it contains segments by Ricardo Christe and Ricardo J.
Méndez, and submissions are welcome. I'd like to distribute it as a
PDF file. If anyone has a way to create them, please let me know.
Ritual of
Knowledge 640kb A loopable mix of two of the sounds (DrumSong and Kwakiutl) that
I plan to pass as the Ritual of Knowledge. It's mainly the Shaman
repeating Kwakiutl - where Sila is chanted out loud several times -
mixed with an ocassional drum-and-song retort from the choir.
This version is in mono, but let me know if you wish to have the
stereo version and I'll send it over.
Chapter 7 NPC
graph 12kb A diagram of the NPCs and main points of chapter 7, including one I
created for my campaign.
Some extra NPC
sheets 6.36kb The Byakhee character sheets for Reinhold Blair, Jason Decker,
Carter MacBane and Alfred Barrow, but this time including their

portraits from the sourcebook.
Kwakiutl.zip 370kb
A rather unsettling Inuit chant submitted by Morten Kjeldseth
Pettersen. You can clearly hear Sila called out several times.
Chapter 4 NPC
graph 63kb A diagram of the NPCs and main points of chapter 4, including some
that I concocted for my own campaign.
Chapter 5 NPC
graph 50kb A diagram of the NPCs and main points of chapter 5.
Information on
Anchorage 25kb More information from Morten Kjeldseth Pettersen, this time on
Anchorage from an exchange with William F. Hostman. Quite an
enlightening read.
Misc. documents
on the artic 480kb Several documents on the artic on RTF format provided by Morten
Kjeldseth Pettersen. I've edited them somewhat to remove references
to the late 20th century, but please let me know if you find anything
that slipped by. They are:
First hand experience with the Inuit
First hand experience with the Artic
The Inuit
The eskimo dog
Other native americans
Obscure dieties of the world
History of the Artic regions
Greenland
General knowledge
The Franklin expedition
Folklore on wind dieties
A night at the
gallery 100KB A Night At The Gallery is a short adventure I wrote for introducing
new players to my Walker in the Wastes campaign. Comments are
welcome.
Enlil.zip 473kb So your investigators want to research any of the gods mentioned in
Bridgeman's books beyond what's on the sourcebook? Here's an RTF
document with information on the Sumerian god Enlil that you can
give to your players. It also contains some confusing and misleading
hints that will be helpful in driving your investigators crazy. It is
explained in more detail in Enlil.txt
Dead of Winter
NPC sheets 7kb A collection of files for the Byakhee character editor for Windows
95 containing the NPCs the Prologue, contributed by Ricardo
Christe.
Chapter 1 NPC
sheets 7kb A collection of files for the Byakhee character editor for Windows
95 containing the NPCs for chapter 1. Do you use Windows, play
Call of Cthulhu and DON'T use Byakhee? You don't know what
you're missing.
Reinhold Blair
sheets 1.7kb The Byakhee character sheet for Reinhold Blair.
Prologue NPC
graph 35kb A graphic characterizing the NPCs from the prologue, including a
couple of personal notes on them.

Chapter 1 NPC
graph 76kb A graphic characterizing the NPCs from chapter 1, including some
that I concocted for my own campaign.
Inuit ritual song 1.3MB
This is a loopable WAV file that you can use for a song in an Inuit
ritual. It was originally taken from the album Songs of the Inuit II:
Drum Dance Songs in Inuvik, where it appeared as song #13
(Ungaliq - North Wind). Colonel Panic did a lot of work on it,
mixing it up and patching diffferent sounds so now it has that special
not quite fitting sound you would expect on a weird ritual. He also
made some changes so that it loops well, and the end result is a chant
that after five minutes will have your players on their toes and ready
to bolt (not to mention with a serious headache).
You can visit the Walker in the Wastes chat page, where we discuss the campaign in
general, and can also check out the Walker in the Wastes mailing list, where you can
check the list archives and subscribe to the list.
