Improvements to
furnishings in the
Gathering room continue
as time and funds permit.
New pull down shades
were installed in the
Gathering Room, one
table has been refinished
and another is being
repaired and refinished.
Currently the room
houses an exhibit of

the Sister City program.
Bill Alexander
Interim Library Director
The library building is
benefitting from some
much needed attention in
the repair of the CCTV
system that was damaged
during the recent
renovations. A new
surveillance server, camera
relocations and improved
storage and visibility are
expected results. The
elevator will also be given
some improved controls,
better door closer
sensitivity and a tank
heater to keep the
operating fluid warmer
during our chilly season.
The expectation is that
these improvements will
cure the occasional jerky
operation.
Through the kindness of
the Friends of the Library
we have been gifted with a
pair of comfy bean bag
chairs for the improved
Young Adult area and a
popcorn machine that can
be used to enhance
programs for all ages.
Reorganization of
shelving and furnishings
in the Children’s room is
underway to better greet
the incoming children as
well as improve visibility
for the staff. No
additional furniture is
needed as reuse of desks
and shelving will
accomplish the project
goals. At the end of this
effort, at least 75% of the
collection will have been

Citizen Science Day
Tuesday, March 24
Show and Tell: 4:00 to 6:15
Presentation: 6:30 to 7:30
There is an amazing, dynamic world all around
us and we are a part of it. Everyday scientists around the world are studying humans, the earth,
and our place in it. If you’ve ever dreamed of being a scientist working on that next great
discovery, you have your chance. Scientists are increasingly turning to people like you and me
to help them collect and analyze valuable data that they in turn will use to make that new
breakthrough. Find out what you can do at one of these two sessions!
Show and Tell: Stop by to explore what citizen science projects are out
there that match your interests. We will have computers and tablets so you
can play with the actual websites and apps that you will be using.
Presentation: Learn what citizen science is and all of the different ways
you can help scientists all over the world. We will look at some of the most
popular projects, how to find projects to match your interests, and tips on
how to make your contribution valuable to the scientific community. Put on your binoculars
and grab your lab coat— We are doing science!
Spring Seed Swap
Saturday, March 14, 10:00 - 12:00
Do you have a half filled packet of seeds left over
from planting? Did you save some seeds from your
garden last year and have more than you need this
year? Are you looking for a source of seeds for your
own garden this year? If so, check out our Seed Swap.
Tables will be set up with various different seeds for
you to swap and take. If you’re interested in
contributing seeds for this event please contact Kyle at
[email protected] or 854-0630 x4256 with the type of seeds
you plan to bring. You do not need to bring seeds to participate.

Recently there has
been an increase in
holds from other
libraries on the
DVDs we purchase.
This causes the
DVDs to be gone
from our shelves
longer. What does
this mean for you?
If you want to
watch a new DVD,
please place it on
hold. Don’t wait for
it to show up on the
shelf, as it might be
months before that
happens. When you
request one of our
items, your request
goes to the top of
the list ahead of
other library’s
patrons. Find lists
of new DVDs on
our website, Face-
book page, or at the
library. You can
place holds online,
via phone, or in
person at the library.
