HEALTH AND SAFETY

A versatile product that can be used on most hard surfaces including showers, baths,floors, walls, toilet cubicles, urinals, wash basins, tiled areas and tables. It contains ahighly effective biocide and can be used as a damp wiping multi-purpose sanitiser inhousekeeping and building services applications.

Personal Protective Equipment:-

BIOTEK WASH & CLEAN is a concentrated product and must be diluted before use. It isusually dispensed through a wall mounted bottle, or bucket, dispenser or through a 30mlpelican pump fitted to the 5 Lt container. It is important to follow the recommendeddilution rates as over concentration may cause smearing on surfaces or leave themtacky. These residues can however be removed by wiping down the affected surfacewith a damp cloth or mop or rinsing with water.Spray BottleFor general cleaning dilute 1 plunge of BIOTEK WASH & CLEAN from either a Smart Pumpbottle fill dispenser or pelican pump, per 750 ml Biotek spray bottle.Either spray directly onto, or spray onto a cloth then wipe over the surface to becleaned. Allow sufficient contact time, agitating heavily soiled areas if necessary,before rinsing with clean water and wiping over with a clean damp cloth. If additional surface disinfection is required after cleaning spray BIOTEK WASH & CLEANdirectly onto the surface, ensuring an even coverage and allow up to 5 minutescontact time before rinsing the surface with fresh clean water and drying the surfacewith a separate clean dry cloth.Floor CleaningDilute up to 80:1 with water, 4 plunges from dispenser per 10 Lt of water, dependingupon degree of soiling. Apply by mop and bucket to clean and deodorise in oneoperation.

BIOTEK WASH & CLEAN is a concentrated alkaline multi-purpose washroom and hardsurface cleaner/sanitiser. It contains a pleasant herbal perfume and is formulated toclean, disinfect and de-odorise washrooms, showers, baths, walls, urinals and other hardsurfaces. It easily removes soap scum, whilst at the same time leaving a fresh herbalfragrance. Tested to BS EN 1276 standard for biocidal efficacy at a dilution of 25:1 and acontact time of 5 minutes.

USING CHEMICALS SAFELY AT WORKWhat Are Hazard Symbols?

Hazard symbols are orange boxes found on chemical labels and packaging. The symbol warns the user about the potential danger. To handle and store chemicals SAFELY the user needs to be aware of the potential danger and what steps are required to protect the user and others from harm.

CORROSIVE

May cause burns and destroy body tissue on contact.

Helping To Reduce the Risk of Harm.The hazardous nature of a product cannot be altered, only the risk of harm occurring during use. The simplest way to protect the user from potential harm is through the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

GLOVES

As a minimum requirement users of all commercial detergents should wear suitable gloves at all times.

IRRITANT

May cause inammation of skin or mucous membranes through immediate, prolonged or repeated contact.

HARMFUL

May cause acute or chronic damage to health, or death, when inhaled, swallowed or absorbed via the skin.

TOXIC

Low quantities will cause acute or chronic damage to health, or death, when inhaled, swallowed or absorbed via the skin.

OXIDISING

Can react by giving out heat and can cause ammable substances to catch re/burn aggressively. Store in a cool location with the lid tightly sealed. Segregate from ammable substances. Keep away from Corrosives.

FLAMMABLE

Chemicals that can catch re if they become hot or exposed to a source of ignition. Store in a cool location with the lid tightly sealed – No smoking.

GOGGLES

For use with all chemicals where splashing or accidental spillage is likely.

FACE MASK

For use with hazardous chemicals where a mist or vapour may occur.

APRON

For use with all corrosive chemicals or where splashing or accidental spillage is likely.

DANGEROUS FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

Capable of presenting an immediate or delayed danger to the environment. Store in a secure location, with the lid tightly sealed. Dilute and use as directed.

Golden Rules When Handling Chemicals.• Know the correct chemicals to use before starting the task.• Read the product label carefully. An orange symbol warns

you that there may be a danger present.• Wear the P.P.E. provided. Avoid contact with skin when diluting

or applying chemical products.• Follow manufacturers’ instructions when handling any

chemical.• Do not mix chemicals - This can be dangerous.

• Never put chemicals into unlabelled containers or bottles, or any containers that might be used for drinking or eating.

• Store chemicals safely, in their original containers, upright with the cap tightened.

• Report any spillages, damaged containers or faulty equipment.

• Wash away splashes immediately with clean cold water - be aware of the appropriate First Aid requirements.

SPECIAL NOTE 1 Identify the hazards associated with the chemical (if any). 2 Provide First Aid measures if the user is harmed. 3 States the correct P.P.E. to be worn to ensure safe use of the chemical.

Training in the safe and effective use of our chemicals is vital, and we have developed a comprehensive range of support and reference materials to enhance our face to face training sessions. These valuable reference tools offer guidance to help eliminate common mistakes, improve cleaning performance and ensure that staff are working in a safe and risk free environment.

We offer our clients a number of cleaning and safety training courses, supported by Product Guidance and Material Safety Data Sheet manuals, colour-coded wall charts, interactive CD-ROMs and recommended Standard Operating

Procedures. You will benefit from practical, hands-on training in your place of work – you will NEVER see a training video. Training can be tailored to your precise needs - from basic induction training for new staff to refresher training for existing staff. All staff can be certificated in the use of our products, and training records signed for inclusion in personnel files, to ensure that all staff understand the importance of safe working practices. For customers where staff turnover is high, this is a crucial resource to draw upon.

A KEY TO STAFF SAFETYTo help our customers comply with their important COSHH responsibilities we have

recently developed an updated Chemical Safety presentation for our distributors and end user customers. As before, the focus is on three key areas:

1) Identifying hazardous products.

2) Helping reduce the risk of harm to staff.

Scrape all food debris fromplates. Ensure all heavilysoiled items are pre-rinsedprior to machine washing.Empty glasses of solid debris(cocktail sticks, fruit peel,pips, paper etc.)

Rack items of the same sizetogether so none are hiddenfrom wash jets. Fill rackevenly NOT too tightly. Do notMIX sizes and make sure theyare spaced apart.

Thoroughly clean out the inside of the machine with a degreaser/sanitiser. RINSE THOROUGHLY.Replace scrap trays, wash and rinse arms and curtains.Shut doors and switch on and allow machine to heatup to correct working temperature.Machine ready to operate.
