2020 Staffing Placements I am pleased to be able to say that we have made our final teaching staffing appointments and can announce the teacher positions for 2020.

Miss Taylah Crompton joins us in the 1/2 next year and we are excited to welcome her aboard. Mr Jack Stevens will be taking 12 months leave.
We have a great team for 2020 and I am really excited for the New Year. The student placements are currently being finalised and will go home with reports on Monday 9th December.
Strawberry Fair News On Tuesday night we had a very successful meeting about the 2020 Strawberry Fair. Lots of progress is being made towards next year’s fair and we are looking at trialling some new ideas. We are also seriously considering how we reduce the waste produced on the day and hope to introduce recycling and a reduction in the use of plastics.
We are also on the hunt for a coordinator for the Cake Stall, if you might be able to help out please either talk to myself or Danielle Wilks.

2019 Premiers Reading Challenge Well done to students who participated in this recent Victorian event – over 4.3 million books were read by students across the state! Thank
you to Mrs Moore for supporting/coordinating this challenge at Wallington. We presented the students with certificates of completion at assembly.

How Good is your Child with Money? Financial literacy is an essential life skill, and it’s never too early to start learning. Find out all about financial literacy and how to help your child learn about how money works.
What is ‘Financial Literacy’? Financial literacy means having the financial knowledge, skills and attitude needed to make good financial decisions. This includes learning how to budget and manage money, weighing up whether to save or spend, and deciding what to spend money on.
Financial literacy at school Your child’s school may use some of the great online resources that are now available to support the teaching of consumer and financial literacy. They’ve been developed by the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) as part of the rollout of the Australian Curriculum. You can read more about them on the Curriculum Connections webpage. For more ideas about how to support your child’s financial literacy learning at home, the Curriculum Connections website provides links to information and activities for a range of ages from littlies to high schoolers.
What you can do at home Learning about how to earn, save and use money is a great way for children to practise their maths skills and set up good habits for managing their finances in the future.
There are plenty of resources online to help your child learn about money and how to make good decisions. Saving up pocket money to buy something they really want or calculating discounts and weighing up which items to buy gives your child a chance to practise using maths in a real-life situation. No matter what your child’s age, it’s never too early to start learning about how money works. For ideas on developing financial literacy skills at different year levels, see these arti-cles on the Learning Potential Resources website:
To coin a phrase – Using loose change to learn about Australian coins (for littlies)
Adding value – Learning about the value of Australian coins (for Year 1-2)
Cashing in – Using money and calculating change (for Year 3-4)

Christmas Picnic - Books
The Christmas picnic this year will be on Friday
13th December at 5pm. BYO Picnic Dinner and
rug and sit on the oval for a social evening to
finish the year.
A special visit from Santa will be at 6pm. Please leave a
wrapped book only (NO TOYS) to max value $10 at the
office with your childs name on it. (books for siblings are
welcome too), for Santa to hand out on the night. We
welcome 2020 prep parents to come along to the night.
