THIRTY-SECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Dependence on God Today’s Old Testament reading from 1 Kings and the Gospel story from Mark present us with two remarkable widows who challenge us by their conviction, generosity and faith. The widow tossed her only signs of independence into the collection basket, but she maintained her complete dependence on God. It takes not only generosity to do this, but also faith. Perhaps that’s part of the message. Her example of faith is grounded in the love of God: her love for God and God’s love for her.

COLLECTION NOVEMBER 18th The Shepherds’ Trust has a mission to
provide, comfort and care for those who have steadfastly cared for us – our retired priests. As parishioners, we have our own memories of a Catholic priest who made a positive, meaningful and lasting impact in our lives.
Religious order priests such as our own Holy Cross Fathers have faithfully served parish communities like Holy Name Parish for many years. The Shepherds` Trust recognizes their faithfulness, their many years of service to us, and the strong ties we have to them by ensuring that funds collected in parishes served by religious order priests, be given to those orders as a contribution towards the retirement of our priests.
Each year, thousands of people contribute to the Shepherds’ Trust.
We want our priests to retire safely and with dignity. The Shepherds’ Trust allows us to help achieve this goal.
Your generosity is deeply appreciated.
