“We believe every company has a responsibility

to reduce greenhouse gases as quickly as it

can. This used to be controversial, but the

science is in and it is overwhelming… Walmart

can help restore balance to climate systems,

reduce greenhouse gases, save money for our

customers, and reduce dependence on oil.”

- Lee Scott, 2005

Commitment 2: accelerate efficiency

Commitment 1: scale renewables

Drive the production or procurement of 7 billion kWh of renewable energy globally by December 31, 2020—an increase of over 600% versus 2010. The U.S. share is 2.5 billion.

By December 31, 2020, reduce the kwh/sqft. energy intensity required to power our buildings around the world by 20% versus 2010

Walmart is on the path to being supplied by 100% renewable energy

SolarCity/Walmart Battery Storage Project

Pilot Projects– Phase1: Small 15-30 KW batteries (2013-2014)– Phase II: 2015 test will use larger batteries:

o 200 kW batteryo Battery + Solar reduce utility demand costo Battery will also offer short-term back-up

power

Concept:Battery used for shaving peak utility

demand– Small 15kw-30kw Batteries charge at

night (low time-of-use cost)– Larger 200 KW Batteries will be

charged by solar systems– Can be used to manage peak demand

& provide limited backup power supply
