ELECTRONICS ‐ Televisions, computers and their accessories,CD/DVD players, telephones, radios, stereos, copiers, VCR's, battery operated toys (batteries removed), electronic media such as DVD's, CD's and their cases. No shrink wrap or tapes.
SALVAGE SHED ‐ Drop‐off or pick up reusable items in good condition. No clothing, carpet, yard sale remnants, broken furniture or trash items. Visits are limited to 10 minutes on any weekday or weekend period.
LUMBER SALVAGE ‐ Annex to the Salvage Shed. Drop‐off or pick up solid sawed lumber 4 feet minimum length and plywood or OSB 3x2 feet minimum. No pallets, rotten wood or painted wood. No nails or screws.
BOTTLES, CANS AND ALL PAPER ‐ Recycle all together glass bottles and jars, metal cans, plastic bottles, magazines, newspaper, and mixed paper. No plastic bags. No garbage.
CORRUGATED CARDBOARD ‐ Must be empty. No pizza boxes.
RIGID PLASTICS #2, #4, #5 ‐ Tubs, cups, buckets, toys, and other non‐bottle plastics. No metal. No battery operated toys.
BULKY WASTE ‐ Carpet and padding, couches, chairs, landscape timbers, renovation waste, treated, painted and stained wood. No mattresses or box springs
PLASTIC BAG RECYCLING ‐ Clean, dry, empty plastic bags and other plastic film such as dry‐cleaner bags, newspaper bags, bread bags, paper towel and toilet tissue wrap.
CLOTHING AND SHOES ‐ Used but usable textiles. Can include sheets and towels as well as clothing, belts and shoes. No pillows or other bedding.
HOUSEHOLD GARBAGE ‐Waste must be bagged.
TIRES ‐ Limit five (5) per month. Must be off rims.
METAL ‐ Scrap metal and small appliances. No propane tanks. Barrels must be washed, flattened, with ends removed.
CLEAN WOOD & PALLETS ‐ No painted, stained or treated wood. Will be ground into boiler fuel.
YARD WASTE – Loose, or in brown paper yard waste bags. No plastic bags. No construction lumber. Will be ground into mulch. LARGE APPLIANCES ‐ Limit two per day or weekend period. Washers, dryers, refrigerators, etc. Place appliances that contain Freon on concrete in marked area.
FOOD WASTE ‐ All food (fruit, vegetable, meat, bones, dairy, leftovers) and food related paper (napkins, paper plates) will be composted. No plastics or metal. This is the first residential food waste drop off in North Carolina!
MOTOR OIL, OIL FILTERS, ANTIFREEZE, ALL BATTERIES
HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE COLLECTION ‐ Paint, pesticides, chemicals, propane tanks, fluorescent bulbs and other toxic, harmful or hazardous materials. Households only. No business waste.

Welcome toNew Features at Walnut Grove Solid Waste Convenience Center
Please follow these guidelines:Residential use only. No business waste. Loads are limited to one car or pick‐up truck per weekday or weekend period. Loads must be covered. Mattresses and box springs are not accepted.No scavenging is permitted.
Accepted items: Compactors for household garbage, bulky wastes, cardboard, and single stream recycling for hauling efficiency.
Lower level containers for tires, metal, wood, yard waste, appliances and bulky items for easier disposal.
Paved surfaces to control dust, mud and storm water runoff.
Separate routing for large County collection trucks for lower level containers, and improved flow for residents to increase safety and ease of use.
New Services at Walnut Grove Solid Waste Convenience Center
USED COOKING OIL ‐ Vegetable or animal‐based liquid cooking oil free of excess debris. Will be converted into bio‐diesel fuel.
